Ep. 14 Baker Freiberg On Disrupting Your Personal Health and the Health Industry

Ep. 14 Baker Freiberg On Disrupting Your Personal Health and the Health Industry

Baker Freiberg serves as VP of sales for EHOP Health. He’s a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate and an avid Tar Heel fan.  After spending a decade in the insurance industry he joined the EHOP Health team to focus on long-term cost reduction through chronic disease reversal.  He is a positive force working to transform the businesses we serve by building a health plan focused on needing less health care.

Baker was raised to be an active kid growing up, participating in ALL of the sports. His Dad served as a healthy role model as he committed to a consistent morning workout routine.  Growing up his idea of health and wellness was built on the notion that as long as he was active, he could eat whatever he wanted. Always believing, “you can outrun a bad diet.”  However, that theory caught up with him after his first semester in college when he found himself 40 pounds heavier.  Recognizing that nutrition is key for long-term health Baker has spent the last 20 years improving his nutritional skills to support his overall health and current ironman training regime. Ep. 10 Nikki Batiste On Overcoming the Battle of the Mind

Ep. 10 Nikki Batiste On Overcoming the Battle of the Mind

Nicole Batiste is a warrior.  An overcomer with a gentle spirit.  Her tender tone and wise words give you a sense of warmth and safety, however, the beginning of her own story is anything but that.  Tragically,  she fell victim to sexual abuse at a young age and sexual assault continued into her adult years.  Emotional trauma naturally followed her, but she began to discover that the most toxic relationship she was experiencing was the one with herself.

She was her own biggest critic and a self-professed “mean girl” to herself.  From her life experiences, she always blamed herself,  used negative self-talk, hated the way she looked and never felt good enough.  Her interactions with people were short and she pushed people away because she didn’t believe they’d accept her.   She didn’t want to share her opinion or speak up for herself so she began to lose her voice and purpose.  One day she began to think, “there has to be more to life than this.”  That’s when life shifted.

Ep 9. Rebecca Arsena On Overcoming Disordered Eating

Rebecca always knew that her past story existed for a purpose. Before, anorexia defined her life. Now, she defines her life by committing to the path of healing and paying it forward to others. She found her voice when she started educating herself and pursuing health certifications. She became her own health advocate and recognized she can’t outsource her health to someone else.  Functional Medicine opened her eyes to see that while she had been struggling with adrenal fatigue, GI issues, and metabolic dysfunction due to her past choices and dead-end solutions from doctors, there were effective paths toward healing. Shannon’s own journey inspired her to pursue a certification as a Holistic Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in order to help others.  Since she’s walked the walk, she’s able to empathize with those who have an emotional struggle that weighs heavily on them in their health journey.  She serves as that listening ear and supportive voice that helps others overcome their own health challenges.
