This is the last solocast I will be doing for a while and all I have to say is... WOW

It's hard to believe that it has been a YEAR since I was kind of arbitrarily like "Hey, I should start a podcast" 

Here we are... and this project is complete. 

After what almost seems like an endless number of interviews, scheduling mishaps, nights where I couldn't think of a topic, nights where I went to bed three hours late because I almost forgot to record.... This is where we are....

It didn't make me famous. 

It didn't make me rich. 

Most podcasts have more hits on one episode than this one does on all 365 combines. 

But that wasn't the point. 

The point was to build up perseverance. 

The point was to learn. 

The point was to provide my content for those that were willing to absorb it. 

And to that I say.

I've found out over the course of time that there is a real paradox in the way that people handle themselves. 

We basically live in a world where nobody is really that great, but we are just conditioned to tell ourselves that we are great. 

Then we wonder why people are getting crazier and crazier. 

Here's the deal. 

You can be happy with who you are AND still strive to become who you want to be. 

There's no reason that you have to be upset with your current self in order to become your better self. 

You can be happy without being satisfied, but that's not commonly understood. 

So go out there, love yourself, but also kick ass and grind your gears off in order to become and even BETTER version of yourself, and then even your BEST self.

Justin Phillips:

Bryan Parady is the host of the "Bones to Bulk" podcast, and has built a brand and following around helping the skinny guys out there put on weight, and put on muscle. 

What I found interesting about Bryan is that he is breaking some ground in the fitness space by taking what everybody else does, and running in a different direction. 

While everybody is trying to make themselves a weight loss expert on YouTube or Instagram, Bryan is taking over the weight gain space on Tik Tok. 

I've also been listening to his podcast day in and day out, and all of the information I've been getting is SUPER useful. 

So take this episode to learn more about Bryan's success online and in the gym, and be sure to also check out his podcast and his other content!!!

There are too many of us out there now starting a podcast, Instagram page, Twitter Account, Facebook Group, and whatever else on Day 1. 

That's just setting yourself up for failure. 

Because you have nothing to back yourself on. 

Think about it. 

Even the guys that are rich and famous.... did they get rich and famous at the same time? 

Probably not. 

The most successful podcasts are run by people that are already established. 

People that have been working their rear ends off in some other part of their life, and building credibility. 

Maybe we should consider doing the same..

Stop saying "I have to ____"

Stop saying "____ happened to me" 

Stop saying "Moving On" 

Your life will be so much better with a little tweak to each and every one of these concepts. 

And it's so easy to do.

Just when you think you have everything figured out... 

Something new has to come up. 

Always be prepared for things to get thrown a little bit off track.

Justin Phillips:

There's this ongoing battle between content creation, and content consumption. 

You can find your fair share of people out there screaming that you should spend less time consuming content, and focusing on creating it for others. They're a dime a dozen. 

Here's the thing though.

Without you absorbing their content, why the **** would they create it? 

Nobody would be creating content. 

So not only is your consumption of content crucial to the success of your own content, but it also helps you learn and grow as an individual. 

So consuming content IS important. SUPER IMPORTANT. Don't feel bad about it. 

On the flip side, I can get the importance of creating too. 

Creating content (like this podcast) has introduced me to so many new people, ideas, and opportunities, I can barely even begin to explain them all. 

So should you be creating content, or absorbing it? 

The answer is both.

Decided to bring up an old concept to keep fresh in your mind.

At this point I think we have all heard the saying of "how you do one thing is how you do everything". 

I agree and disagree. 

While you don't necessarily HAVE to make your bed every morning... it might be a pretty tell tale sign of what kind of habits and character you have. 

What else can really show the character you have is who you are when nobody is around... 

So let's talk about that.

Here we go with part two. 

This turned out a little bit differently than what I was shooting for, but I think I got my point across even better. 

This podcast is about PERSPECTIVE. 

It's not about making decisions for you. 

It's not about telling you how to think, or saying that my way of thinking is somehow better than yours. 

It's providing you with the opportunity to see some things through another source. 

Like you know how everyone has always wondered if everybody sees colors the same way? Imagine if you could just see through someone else's eyes once a day. We would know!

Forget colors. Let's face the fact that not everyone sees life the same way. 

But through this, you can at least get a better understanding of the full picture.

As I write the description of this podcast after recording... I realize that there are still a few points and stories that I can hit on... so this is now officially a two parter. 

Let's just be real here for a second. I've been having a real tough time lately in my personal life, and I don't come here looking for any pity, sympathy, or what have you. 

I really come here and talk about some of the things that have been on my mind... because I genuinely don't want to see people in similar situations to what I have been in. 

Don't get me wrong... there are ups and downs in life. I'm in my downs right now, and I'm gradually on my way back up. 

But if I can do anything to help one person avoid some real pain. That's why I do this. 

So this two-part episode is about the concept of moving on. 

Not from a relationship, a job, a rude comment, etc. but just about the concept as a whole. 

Sometimes it isn't worth it to just let go of the past. 

Especially if the past is where you were the happiest...

Everybody do yourself a favor... and stop looking for all of the answers to your life just about everywhere you turn around. 

Stop for a second. 

Breathe. 

It's important for you to remember what is important to YOU and to line yourself up with your own mission. 

I'm tired of everybody on planet earth being an entrepreneur. 

I'm tired of everybody finding a life of "freedom" and/or "happiness" 

I'm tired of it, because you're living the popular life. 

I'm not trying to put a bad spin on living freely and happily, but I see a lot of people PRETENDING that that's where they're at. 

Stop pretending. 

You've got your own thing. 

Use it.

We got Joe Corcione to jump on the internet with us and tell us a little bit about his story... there was some real shit in there that I wasn't expecting. 

While still young, Joe is just kicking off his career as a life and performance coach. I know that sounds like some ******* to a bunch of people... but I've spoken to my fair share of coaches on this podcast now and let me tell ya... I think they're doing something good. 

It was nice to finally find someone that is as nerdy about self-development as I am, and I think we just might be able to get you on board with the idea too. 

Self-development is for everyone. 

Everyone that will accept it.

This one is going to be a little bit confusing, but I think some of you will really resonate with this one. 

As most of us know, everyone really sees the world through their own lens. It's hard to talk about "reality" because it really is different for everybody... but only to an extent. 

Anyway, let today's episode be a reminder that you are in fact seeing the world through a certain lens, but you have the option to change that lens. 

The world is huge. 

The opportunities are endless.

All of us have competition in some aspect(s) of our lives.

I feel like there are a lot of you though that are thinking of your competition the wrong way. 

Your competition is there to make you better, and you're there to make them better. 

Without competition... there would almost be nothing worth having on this planet. 

So respect your competition... but also remember that they are your competition.

Nobody ever talks about how realizing mistakes is actually one of the biggest missed opportunities for a lot of people. 

I mean, let's be real, most people probably do want to be the best version of themselves. 

A good number of people are willing to work on and improve themselves. 

The problem comes when we don't know what it is that we need to be working on or improving. 

Therein lies the problem that we all have situations where we figure out our problems too late.

How often do you get told to do what is easy? 

I want you to REALLY think about the answer to that question. 

When you go through a bad breakup... you are often going to be given advice to move on. 

When it comes to having a career, many people are going to tell you to go through school and then come out with a corporate job. 

When it comes to getting in shape, you will find all sorts of diets, fasting methods, workouts, and so on that are supposed to "help" you and that are supposed to be the easiest and quickest way to get where you want to be. 

When did easy become so mainstream? 

It's not always about what the easiest way is. The quickest method of attack. In a lot of cases, it will be far more worth it to put yourself through hell in order to get to where you want to be.

And if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes.

We all have fire smoldering inside of us. 

It's those that find that fire and feed it that get ahead of the rest. 

Because that fire is your fuel. 

But that fire also needs fuel. 

So what is it that is going to fuel your fire, so that your fire can then fuel you?

Every once in a while I find myself asking myself whether or not I actually have any sort of credentials to talk about the things that I talk about on this podcast. 

Let's cut to the chase.

I don't own a business.

I'm not famous.

I'm poor. 

So why should you listen to me? 

Well, I spend hours upon hours upon hours learning. All I do with this podcast is simply take all of my thoughts and ideas and pour them into your ears through a microphone. 

I am documenting the process of myself learning what it takes to get to where I want to be. 

I let you in on resources that you might not know about. 

I shine ideas in a light that maybe nobody has thought about. 

And this is how I am creating my own path. 

Pretty soon, I'll be able to say that I produced a podcast every single day for a year.

That's where my results start.

Everyone has their false starts. 

Athletes. 

Doctors.

Entrepreneurs.

Parents. 

Astronauts.

No matter what it is... sometimes things are going to feel like they are really starting to take off... and then out of nowhere you find yourself at the bottom again.

But this is how you learn. 

This is how you grow. 

And if you can fight through the false starts.

Your chances at success instantly become higher.

I'm changing it up a little bit today. 

Normally I'm trying to help get you into the champion's mindset. I'm usually trying to give you tips and tricks to help you succeed in life. 

Today I'm going to flip that around. 

I'm going to give you a look into the other side of life that we all inevitably face at one point or another.

Hopefully, it'll clear something up for you, and also help you understand why it is worth it to aim higher. 

We are all better than our lowest point.

A lot of us tend to have a lot of stress going on in our lives. 

Work, school, relationships... whatever it might be. 

Stress has the ability to tear some people's lives down. 

Stress is often combatted with alcohol, drugs, and some other seriously not good methods of dealing with it. 

So here's what I want to tell you. 

You've got a lot going for you. 

If you let stress get in the way of that, you will regret it. 

I want to give everyone this reminder, before it's too late for you.

I don't say this to scare you or worry you... but to help you.

This week we got to sit down with an old acquaintance from high school, who didn't necessarily take any of the "traditional" paths to where he is now.

With a dream of becoming an actor, Billy was always told that acting school "wasn't a real thing" but then once he found out for himself that it was, he went behind what everyone else was telling him, applied, and got accepted to the acting school he wanted.

After going through some bumps along the road, he is now out with an Associate's degree, and piecing together his career with what he has learned. He has also had a few trips to NYC and LA where he gained a lot of life experience.

Lately I've had to go back and ask myself a few times... Why is it that I still do this podcast? 

I mean, no one is listening, honestly. 

I've destroyed incredibly important parts of my life because of it. 

Why is it still going? 

Well there are a handful of reasons. 

But the main reasons, are the opportunities I have been provided through the podcast, that I seriously would have never thought possible.

The people I've met. 

The skills I've acquired. 

The advice I've gotten. 

All of those are the reasons that I keep going, and the reason that I encourage you to pursue whatever your dream is too.

For this one, the description is in the title. 

Some people will tell you that people can change, and some will tell you that people never do. It's actually pretty situational. 

Here's my spin. They don't. 

But they do learn, grow, and evolve as people. 

You don't have to CHANGE for yourself or anyone else, but it is almost always necessary to grow as a person. 

I've been doing a lot of growing over the past couple of years, and I've still got a LOOONG way to go... and I know it. 

I just hope that someone else is with me on this journey.

By now you probably now that just about anything you do without moderation can turn into a bad thing. That also goes for being a nice person. 

Listen, I'm all about giving compliments to strangers, helping your friends, and the whole nine yards, but there's a catch to all of that. 

If you are nice too often, your "nice-ness" really starts to lose its value... and pretty soon there are no kind words left to go around, even though they are going around all the time. 

Does that make sense? Maybe it makes more sense in the audio..

I see so many people leading busy busy lives. 

It seems like nobody has a free hour in the day anymore, but we still all find ourselves in drastically different situations physically, mentally, and financially? 

So what's the difference between your busy and my busy?

The college debate is hotter than ever. 

Should you go, or should you not? 

We'll discuss that some other time. 

Here's the part that nobody else is talking about. 

The COLLEGE DEBATE actually has VERY LITTLE to do with EDUCATION. 

In other words, people that are "anti-college" can also be "pro-education" 

The bigger part of the debate is really the methods you use in order to obtain that education. Also the quality of education, and how you actually define education. 

Being educated is a good thing, but in today's world, you don't have to go to college to learn. 

That's the point.

As I listen to more podcasts, and read more books from those that I would consider successful, I continue to pick up on some clues as to what got them to where they are. 

Today I'm exploring the correlation between the successful people on this planet, and influence. 

That's right, how are those that we consider to be some of the most influential human beings, actually influenced by others? 

Does GaryVee get inspired by Jeff Bezos quotes? 

Does Mark Cuban listen to what GaryVee has to say? 

Do any of them listen to the general rules of society? 

What does that tell us about the successful?

I found this interesting article on Forbes about why companies have started paying their employees to workout on the clock. 

It turns out that working out is actually good for your mind AND your body. Who would've guessed. 

With more and more studies coming out about the effects that physical exercise can also have on your brain, and your productivity, I could definitely see more companies jumping on this training of giving their employees time to workout on the job. 

I know going to the gym isn't exactly the most appealing idea to everyone, but maybe if it gets you away from your unglorious tasks for half an hour, then it's more incentivizing?

So we thought we'd change things up a little bit this week and let Justin take his turn in the guests' seat!!!

This also gives Gerard a chance to practice some of those sick interview skills that you need in order to have a show like this run smoothly. 

But overall, this episode was actually really fun, and it gave us a chance to explore around inside of Justin's head a little more, and also just flip the script and have some questions answered. 

We cover the whole nine yards, from mental and physical fitness, to the technical aspects of running your own podcast, and trying to start a business while working a full time job. 

It's not EXACTLY like all of the other "quit your 9-5" stuff that you might see out there, but we think we are working toward a similar goal, but from a whole different angle.

People are going to work every single day with some level of fear that they could eventually lose their job, which means that they would lose their income, perhaps insurance, and other benefits that might come with the employment. 

This is a big part of the reason that workplace stress is so common now. 

That stress is often magnified by poor leaders, working conditions, and heavy workloads. 

I'm here to focus on the leadership. 

Leaders can really make or break your entire work life, depending on your situation. 

And the leaders may not be the people that you think they are. 

Your bosses, managers, and other figures of authority aren't necessarily the leaders of your organization. 

They could be, but a lot of times the best leaders could also be your co-workers, or even your subordinates. 

Leadership is actually about trust, cooperation, and safety. 

So if you do not feel SAFE at your job... that could be the first problem....

Let's get this straight. 

MOST people that quit their job... are not necessarily quitting the work that they have to do. 

They are getting themselves away from the people that they have to work with. 

There are a lot of terrible managers, bosses, leaders, etc. out there now in companies. 

I haven't always been a big believer in that, but I've come around to notice that it's just true. 

This is not to say that all managers/bosses/leaders are bad, of course there are also excellent ones out there. 

My point here, though, is that we do not put enough thought into the role that people play in a business. 

Relationships, communication, morale, and so on... I see tons and tons and tons of operations getting to wrapped up in sales and other numbers, that they forget why they're in business in the first place. 

To help people. 

This goes for companies big and small. 

Period.
