Life is a journey and even in the midst of a pandemic, we can depend on God to instruct us on our journey, show us the way and watch over us with His eye. Psalm 32:8 says:

Episode 30: Don’t Ask “Why?” Just Trust God

There are moments in life where we simply don't understand why things are happening the way they are, but in those moments, God wants us to trust Him. In those moments, may we, like Job, say to God, "“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted." (Job 42:2)

Episode 29: Nine results of a righteous person

Episode 29: Nine results of a righteous person

In Psalm 1:1-3, David tells us nine results of a righteous person. The righteous person does not seek counsel from the wicked or ungodly, he does not walk in the path of sinner, and he does not sit in the seat of the scornful. Instead, his delight is in the law of the Lord and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted near rivers of water that brings forth fruit and his leaf does not wither. As a result, the righteous person is blessed, or truly happy.

Rituals are not a Requirement for Salvation

Rituals are not a Requirement for Salvation

As the gospel message began to spread to the Gentile world, some Judeans began to preach that the Gentiles must go through the ritual of circumcision, as required in the law of Moses, for them to be truly saved. We then see a debate arise within church as to whether or not this ritual was required for salvation. Paul brings the debate to the Jerusalem Council where Peter addresses the Council and gives four reasons what rituals have NO part in salvation. Salvation is only by grace through faith in Jesus' death and resurrection. If we try to add requirements to salvation, it ceases to be a free gift, as God intended. Adding rituals to the requirements for salvation makes salvation based on what I do, not on what Christ did for us.

Episode 26: Introducing Deacons into the Church

Episode 26: Introducing Deacons into the Church

With growth, comes growing pains. As the early church was growing faster than the disciples could keep up with, complaints began to come in that the Hellenistic Jews were not receiving food from the charitable donations. The current leadership structure, was no longer effective and so it was time for a change. From this, the first seven deacons were appointed and a distinction was made between the role of pastor and the role of deacon. In this episode we will discover 9 qualifications that Paul listed for those who are to be appointed as a deacon.
