Covid Vaccines For 5-11 Year Olds with Dr. Jessica Hochman
Today Sarah talks with Dr. Jessica Hochman, a pediatrician from Southern California. Here's a note from Sarah about this episode: "I was nervous for this interview because we talk about topics like vaccines and masks that have become very divisive and political so I want to make a few things clear before you listen. 1. Juna, as a company, does not have a position on this issue and anything that I personally say is not meant to be an endorsement of Juna's position. 2. Our goal with this podcast, and everything we share at Juna is to give you the most accurate and up to date information we can find on pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood wellness, and empower you to make decisions with that information which work for you and your family. 3. I've seen many influencers and brands appeal to the emotional side of these issues and while emotion may certainly play a role in your decisions, our intention is to provide, statistics and science and leave the emotion out as much as possible. 4. Dr. Jessica's perspective is one of many. If you have someone you would like me to interview for the podcast on this topic, please send me a DM on instagram @juna.moms. Lastly, parenting is hard. Deciding whether or not to vaccinate your children, especially in this 0-11 age range is hard and we shouldn't judge one another for whatever decision we make because at the end of the day we all want what's best for our kids and will come to different conclusions on what that looks like.  Thanks for listening. - Sarah For more from Juna, check out our pregnancy and postpartum app.

Postpartum Stories: Motherhood Understood
Sarah talks to Jen Schwartz from Motherhood Understood.  Jen had a fairly straightforward path to becoming a Mom, but when she brought her son home from the hospital, everything turned. She fell into deep postpartum depression and her mom and husband took over the parenting duties *while she cried in bed.  Jen shares the not so pretty side of the role we are taught to believe comes naturally when we decide it’s time to start a family. For her, it took a whole year, lots of therapy and medication, just to adjust to her new life as mom.  Jen’s goal with sharing her story so openly is to help Moms feel less alone if they are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings, and let them know there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Her message: "1 in 5 moms are taken down by pregnancy and postpartum mental health issues during and following childbirth, but those of us who are suffering are pretty sure nobody hears, or even sees us." Ovulation Tracking with Lindsay Meisel
In today's episode, Sarah sits down with Lindsay Meisel to discuss all things ovulation, cycle tracking, and getting pregnant. This episode is the long-form interview with Lindsay. She is also featured in Episode 1 of Season 2: Getting Pregnant.  Let's go over a few key points about ovulation tracking:⁣⁣⁣ 1) It's only possible to get pregnant during your fertile window and that happens about midway through your cycle (day 14 for a 28 day-cycle). This is your most fertile time and it lasts about 48 hours. Everything on either side of the window and your chances of getting pregnant decrease significantly.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 2) There are signs that you are ovulating, like the cervical mucus test and your body temperature. If you like lots of data points and keeping track of things diligently, you can do this manually. If you would rather be more hands off but still know when you're ovulating, the Ava Women Bracelet could be good for you (not sponsored). ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 3) Tracking your cycle and trying to get pregnant can be a source of stress for some women. If you are finding yourself in this boat, think about how you may be able to remove some of the stressors and still achieve your end-goal. ⁣⁣ 4) Listen to the full episode for an in-depth conversation about ovulation tracking and getting pregnant.  Topics from the episode include: #ovulation #period #pregnant #pregnancy #ttc #tryingtoconceive #conceive #conception #makeababy #fertility #pregnancypodcast #pregnancyapp⁣⁣

Yes, it's true -- the current divorce rate in the United States is somewhere between 40-50%. In a study from 2013, couples were asked their top reasons for getting divorced and 57% said one of the top reasons was “too much conflict and arguing”. When you spend your life with someone, there’s bound to be conflict. But the key is using that conflict to make you and not break you. This interview is the full conversation with Sheina Schochet, a mental health counselor from New York specializing in pre-marital counseling, life transitions, and maternal mental health. This interview appeared in the 10th episode of our Family Planning Series, "Life After Baby". Family Planning 101: Adoption
Today's episode Today’s episode is the 12th part of our Family Planning Series, and we’re talking all about adoption. To help with this topic, I sat down with Amy from Kansas. Amy is a Mom of two adopted boys who are virtual twins and was pregnant with a third boy at the time we recorded. There are many reasons why an individual or couple might consider adopting a child. For some it might be Infertility, health concerns, or to help a child in need. For others it could be the lack of a partner or to go from Step-Mom to Mom. But, regardless of your motivation, adoption can be an amazing way to make your dreams of having a family come true. ----- ----- -----  For more from juna, visit juna.co or check out the Juna App for Pregnancy and Postpartum. Family Planning 101: Let's Talk About Sex
Let’s Talk About Sex. Not in the Cosmopolitan headline, “21 Mind Blowing Sex Moves You’ve Never Tried” kind of way. But rather about the things that are actually going to help make your sex life, your relationship, and your marriage better. According to Dr. Renee Hilliard, a former OBGYN turned Sex and Love Coach, nearly 85% of people have some difficulty with getting their sex life back after kids, or struggled during the baby making process. That means that most of you listening to this episode will find something to relate to: Today’s episode is the 5th part of our Family Planning Series, and we’re talking all about sex and intimacy, specifically during this period of your life where you’re either trying to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum. Family Planning 101: Alternative Healthcare
Today’s episode is the 3rd part of our Family Planning Series, and we’re talking all about Naturopathic and Alternative medicine for reproduction and fertility. By the end of this episode you should have a much better idea of what naturopathic doctors do, whether this is the right route for you, and gain a better understanding of the connection between your overall well-being and how that might affect your ability to get pregnant. In western culture, alternative medicine has a bit of a stigma associated with it -- namely that it’s practices or medicines may not have a body of scientific evidence that proves their effectiveness.  But as our Doctors, Dr. Aimee, Raupp and Dr. Saru Bala tell us in this episode, naturopathic medicine is actually more of a bridge between the conventional and alternative world of medicine, often giving you a more complete picture of your overall health. What To Expect When You're NOT Expecting with Hailee Repko (Rebroadcast)
Every life is a gift, but let's be honest, it doesn't always feel like that right away. It's estimated that 50% of pregnancies are unplanned, which means half of you who listen to this podcast can relate to Hailee's story in this episode about an unexpected pregnancy.  Sarah chats with her creative partner here at Juna, who experienced an unplanned pregnancy at 25. We talk about what to expect when you're NOT expecting and how to find a Mom community when none of your close friends are not in the Motherhood phase just yet.  Our culture leads women to believe that pregnancy is always a positive experience, but in reality it's very emotional, and those emotions aren't always pretty. That's OK, it's normal to be stressed and important to be honest with yourself.

An Unplanned Pregnancy, Genetic Testing, and Lactation Cookies with Whitney Rovell.
In this episode, Sarah talks with Founder and CEO of Miracle Milkookies, Whitney Rovell. Whitney is the mama behind Miracle Milkookies. She first learned about lactation cookies when her  friend dropped them on my doorstep after having her first baby in 2015. She had NO idea what a lactation cookie was, but she knew they really helped her produce more milk. She googled lactation producing ingredients and learned that oats, yeast and flaxseed seemed to be the magic milk-boosting combo. She added yeast and flax to her go-to oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe, a recipe she had created years before that family and friends always loved. She made the cookies and couldn't believe how great they still tasted, plus she was making SO MUCH MORE MILK! She posted the recipe to her blog (that only my mom read) and called it 'The Miracle Milk Cookie'. On the show, Sarah and Whitney dive into her unplanned pregnancy, the whirldwind of starting a business from her own kitchen while having two babies, working with her husband on the business, and a genetic test marker that forced them to make a difficult decision. Gestational Diabetes with Rebecca Pardess
In this episode of the Juna Women Podcast we talk about Gestational Diabetes, including who is at risk, how and when to get tested, and what to do if you get a positive diagnosis. The craziest part about Gestational Diabetes, and was true in Becca's case, is that about 40–60% of women  have no demonstrable risk factor. Typically, women exhibit no symptoms, which is why many advocate that all women be tested. Gestational diabetes affects ~3–9% of pregnancies. It is especially common during the last three months of pregnancy. It affects 1% of those under the age of 20 and 13% of those over the age of 44. For more vist www.juna.co/juna-women-podcast.
