HardHat Uncovered - Episode 10 - Indoor Air Quality Part 2
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a major concern to businesses, schools, building managers, tenants, and workers because it can impact the health, comfort, well-being, and productivity of the building occupants. OSHA and ISO recognize that poor IAQ can be hazardous to workers’ health and that it is in the best interest of everyone that building owners, managers, and employers take a proactive approach to address IAQ concerns. IAQ has been identified by the EPA as one of the top five most urgent environmental risks to public health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that the majority of Americans spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors.  Listen to the team as they discuss these questions, the hazards associated with IAQ, and how an organization can protect their employees. HardHat Uncovered - Episode 9.2 - Silica part 2
What is Silica? Is it harmful? How am I exposed? What materials contain Silica? Does all dust contain Silica? How do I protect myself? These are just a few of the hundreds of questions associated with this topic being asked by workers across the world. Approximately 2 million construction workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in over 600,000 workplaces. OSHA estimates more than 840,000 of the workers are exposed to silica levels that exceed the new permissible exposure limit (PEL). ISO and OSHA have set standards in place to protect employees; in addition, the new Silica standard from OSHA has raised several questions. HardHat Uncovered - Episode 8 - Compressed Gas Cylinders
Pressurized containers of compressed gas cause around 5,000 injuries per year, requiring time away from work and kill about a dozen people each year (according to OSHA labor statistics). HardHat Uncovered - Episode 7 - Ladder Safety
We took a look at the deadliest jobs in construction. One of the stats we discussed was the fact that about 40% of all construction worker deaths are caused by falls. What might surprise you is the fact that falls from ladders account for about 25% of those deaths. In 2014, 90 of the 359 fatalities from fall hazards were from ladders. The number of deaths from ladder falls has been on the rise the last couple of years. The OSHA construction standard for ladders (1926.1053) is consistently the third most cited OSHA violation every year for the industry, just behind the duty to have fall protection and general requirements for scaffolds.

Listen in as the team discusses the risks of speeding and how to avoid the NEED FOR SPEED!
