Her career includes 143 A grade games and she also played exactly 100 junior games.

Second-placed Timboon Demons are flying along this Warrnambool and District league A grade season and centre Mellissa McKenzie is loving being part of it.

South Warrnambool footballer Charlie Bradshaw has decided to retire after having numerous concussions during his career. 

Bradshaw talks candidly to The Standard sports journalists Sean Hardeman and Brian Allen about why he has decided to stop playing and about the support he has received since making his decision.

He also talks about his father, Kevin, who sadly passed away last month.

Cobden fans can expect to see a different side of Ricky Sullivan in his second stint at Bomberland. 

Sullivan, a multiple interleague player and Victoria Country representative, has returned to the Hampden league after an eight-year exile to Townsville. His stint up north was fruitful.

Sullivan claimed two premierships at Thuringowa Bulldogs and spent seven years at the Gold Coast Suns' academy - four as Townsville region coach and three as assistant coach of the AFL club's under 18 program.

He joined The Standard's Nick Ansell and Brian Allen for this week's edition of The Main Break.

Some may think women's football is a new phenomenon with the recent rise of AFLW and the women's competition in the south-west.

But meet Nullawarre's Judith Poumako and Merle Dalton and you'll learn that's certainly not the case.

They were part of women's football teams in the 1950s and are keen to share their history.

They would love for others to come forward and add to the archives.

Footy and netball are back! It's been a long drought due to the coronavirus pandemic meaning almost no footy and netball across the Hampden and Warrnambool and District leagues in 2020. The Standard's sports journalists Nick Ansell, Brian Allen and Sean Hardeman discuss their HFNL and WDFNL 2021 predictions. The season kicks off with Good Friday matches. Koroit v South Warrnambool in the HFNL and Old Collegians and Merrivale in the WDFNL.  

Athletics South West Turbines president and coach Jeremy Dixon joined journalists Brian Allen and Sean Hardeman for the Main Break this week. The former New Zealand sprinter is now a prominent sports figure in south-west Victoria. He was named 2019 coach/official of the year at the Amazon Sports Star Awards for his work in the region. The Athletics Victoria Shield League season, under coronavirus pandemic limitations, is just weeks away.

Warrnambool Tri Club's 2020/21 season starts today (October 23).

So it was perfect timing to have president Ian Barnes join sports journalists Brian Allen, Justine McCullagh-Beasy and Nick Ansell on The Main Break podcast.

The Albert Park Virtual Duathlon is from October 23 to November 1 with individuals and teams invited to get involved in the free event.
