She has to be knowledgeable in how to read financial reports, accounts, and determine risk assessment for her clients. Nicholas Zink and Greg Cramer Scott Bintz Interview

Nicholas Zink and Greg Cramer Scott Bintz Interview

In this episode we broke down the mind of Scott Bintz and how he came to be where he is today. He goes into depth on the importance of culture, teamwork, and relationships when trying to build a successful business. Scott founded RealTruck.com and attributes a lot of his success in life to the rise and build up of that company. After Scott sold RealTruck to Truck Hero he decided to branch off and focus his priorities on different aspects including a book, motor cross racing, and smaller companies.

Our main objective was to understand what set him apart and how his target market was engaged. It was very evident that Scott found his groove after a couple failures. Sales were sky rocketing and he highly attributes the sales to very loyal workers as well as the very strong culture that his company demonstrated. We related well with Scott and found this podcast very beneficial.

Anyone listening to this podcast can benefit from Scott's words of wisdom. Hearing a successful entrepreneur speak about the do's and don'ts and what to focus on when starting a business could potentially save someone a lot of money. This podcast opened our eyes up to the opportunities available after college and helped us understand not to limit ourselves in our professional world.

This helped us get real-life examples on how to target consumers, how to stay motivated, and how to realize and seize opportunities. We then ask questions to get relevant information on time management in the business world from a man who knows how valuable every second is. This included talking about day to day activities in his role, his balance of work and social life, and how he and the other co-founders work as a team. Cole’s biggest takeaway from the interview was to work towards a goal no matter the amount of work it takes to get there. Zack’s biggest takeaway was that every opportunity, no matter how small, may lead to something great; so, every positive opportunity should be seized. Overall, the experience of talking with Mr. Schott was much more relaxed than we expected. We gained a lot of very valuable information and enjoyed our experience. We hope you enjoy listening to this podcast!

Maddie & Joe Interview Leah Ecklund

Maddie & Joe Interview Leah Ecklund

This episode of the Consumer Behavior Conversations brings you through the effects of culture, social media, color theory, and so much more. We had the honor of talking with Leah Ecklund, a young professional in the Fargo-Moorhead area working as a graphic designer, freelancer, and local beer pourer. She was gracious enough to speak about her work and how graphic design affects consumer behavior from a fast food restaurant’s colors to being culturally aware of how a design will resonate with every single person.

One of our goals when we started this project was to see how culture affects consumer behavior. In this podcast, you’ll have the opportunity to hear Leah’s thoughts on how consumers behave as well as how her experiences in our local area have influenced her own consumer behavior.

Leah is a highly motivated individual that burns the candle at both ends, but also finds balance between her work and social life. Because of this, our conversation flowed from both perspectives of consumer behavior. We learn how Leah communicates with her freelance customers as well as how social media has affected her own behavior through sponsored ads. Leah has also seen the side of being an Instagram influencer through her bookstagram (Instagram book page) where she has become a representative for book-related products.

Tune in to this episode to learn what it is like to be a modern-day artist working and succeeding in the Fargo-Moorhead area. This conversation will open your eyes to the other side of advertising design and allow you to see the perspective of the producer rather than consumer.  Leah is a great source of knowledge, and we are so excited to be able to share this with you. And above all, SUPPORT LOCAL ART:)

Gabe & Noah ft. Bri Boerner

Gabe & Noah ft. Bri Boerner

On this week’s blog, I will be talking about Noah and I’s podcast with Bri Boerner. She is the content specialist at Discover Benefits. You will read about introductions and three main concepts we touched on while learning a little about Bri.

Getting ready to interview

Going in, none of us had done a podcast so we were all nervous. After a few technical difficulties and getting to know Bri before going live we decided to get rolling.

Introduction

We found out Bri is a Fargo native, attending NDSU from 2009-2013, graduating with a major in print journalism. She was an active participant on the Bison Information Network, then graduated to a local news station where she was a producer for the nightly news. She then moved to Discovery Benefits in 2017.

Exposure

Our first concept covered is exposure for Discovery Benefits. She talks about making sure consumers know about their “knowledgebase”. They have a public one that can answer questions like password resets and information about Discovery. Their private knowledgebase is used by clients who have a login.

Attention

Discovery keeps its customers attention by eliminating the need to call customer service. This is done through their knowledgebase which uses guided helps. These are yes or no questions that help to answer their original question.

Comprehension

Bri was adamite about keeping their search engine simple for the consumer. She was specific about their knowledgebase which she described overall as a search engine like Google. This allows customers and employees (in the two separate systems) to search for keywords and click links to find answers to their questions.

We hoped you enjoyed the blog and hope you listen to our podcast and subscribe to our class channel.

Derek Hogenson and Luke Povolny interview with Dick Thurs

Derek Hogenson and Luke Povolny interview with Dick Thurs

In our podcast we had the privilege to interview Richard Thurs, he is a Buyer and DMM Lead line leader at Scheels Corporation. We started out talking with Richard just kind of trying to get to know him more and learning just more of a general background of him before we really got into more serious questions and started to pick his brain. We learned that Richard is a small town Wisconsin guy who is a big sports fan and is unfortunately a Packers fan, we had a couple of good laughs about that and some good natured jabs. He told us about his moving away from the small town life and getting off to college and the transition it was for him to make the jump to a college town. In the process of him moving we learned how him being at college is what got his career going for Scheels as at the start he was just a college kid trying to make some extra money but then started to really enjoy his time with the company and decided to switch career paths. We got to learn a lot about the process of climbing the corporate latter and now about what he has to go through on a daily bases and what can come along with it between the good and the bad. We feel the best take away from our interview with him is just to keep going, keep trying stick to what you really want to do and don’t be afraid to really put yourself out there, you can never have too many connections.
