A 2020 study by Usawa Agenda (a lobby championing equitable access to quality education) shows about eighty per cent of students were missing out on virtual classes set up following the closure of learning institutions as part of coronavirus containment efforts.

It indicated that only 22 per cent of students interviewed in forty-two counties were accessing online learning resources with those enrolled in private schools being twice as likely to take part in digital learning compared to their counterparts in public schools.

In this episode, we explore the accessibility of online and distance learning in Kenya, incorporating views from parents that took part in the Keep Kenya Learning Campaign.

Listen in to find out more about the reality of Kenyan caregivers and their children while learning at home and KKL's efforts to support them.

Guest appearances in this episode include Jenn Otieno; Founder and CEO at Education Design Unlimited | Supporting educators and learners in East Africa and beyond and Rebecca Ume Crook, Co-Founder and Executive Director at Metis, working towards reimagining education in Kenyan classrooms.
