Jay Agonoy shares his thoughts on the things that he's into: From Anime, Pop Culture, Events, Technology and even some of his personal journeys in this thing called life.
We're going off-tangent with our usual podcast schedule to bring this recording from our Facebook Live at Dungeon Akiba in Mandaluyong City. I do admit that the sound was bad, but at best you take your sweet time listening to our conversation as we talk about Cosplay in Zamboanga City with our guest Scar Faeder. Our 2019 Recap podcast will be coming this Monday December 16 at 9am.
Gary Montejo, Chey Adamson and Serena of The Lily Cat join me in a wild discussion about ARCHcon 2019. We are recording this hour-long episode from Monster Grill in Cebu City.
The Philippine Blogging Summit (iBlog) is perhaps the only reason why I go to UP Diliman, and with that ending on its 15th run, I may need to find another reason to do so. I have Mike Abundo (Fintech Philippines Association) and JC Cuneta with me as we remember the lessons and keepsakes that iBlog has given to us.
I moderated a Cosplay panel at Cosmic Con 2019 last October 19, 2019 at Ayala Malls South Park in Muntinlupa City.
The panel includes Raven of Arkadymac.com, the ever-active cosplayer Jayson Tabuzo and Cosmic Con 2019's international guest Hanabi all the way from Vietnam.
This is Episode 56, the full recording of the panel discussion on "Cosplay and its Effects." Thank you for listening.
A few days ago I asked Facebook to Recommend me local cosplayers that you want me to follow. This in turn led me to do a podcast based on this thread.
I am very much eager to share my experiences with most of the recommended cosplayers, so here's to 30 minutes or so of describing most of them one by one.
I also have a few announcements with this episode so kindly stay listening until the end.
On another lengthy but insightful episode, I got Chad Ramos and Allen Silva of The Reimaru Files with me to discuss Paid Photoshoots in Cosplay Events, its concerns & possible long-term effects and possible solutions and approaches to it.
Spend your 1 and a half hour with us as we get to yet another cosplay community issue worthy of analyzing.
Hi guys! We're back with another podcast - this time, it's about the latest Makoto Shinkai movie "Weathering with You." Also, I gave hints about keepsakes 2.0 in this episode. I made sure that this will go on for 30 minutes or so - we've had longer talking times in the past few episodes. :)
This episode features Cosplay Tanabata 7 - the last of its namesake in Baguio City...let's call this as my guide to Baguio, just in case there's a cosplay event coming up (there's one next month) and you're coming from either Manila or somewhere else.
Recorded and first streamed live on Facebook, this is Episode 51 - with Visayas-based Cosplay Buzzer Gary Montejo and Mindanao-based resident Yuri consultant Serena of The Lily Cat.
On this two-hour special episode, we talked about the aftermath of the World Cosplay Summit 2019 Championship and shared our two cents on almost every team who participated in this annual tournament, dubbed as the Olympics (or Miss Universe, whichever you believe in) of Cosplay.
Congratulations to all teams, especially Teams Australia, USA and France! Another milestone in cosplay has been set in stone.
Recorded live on Facebook from Dungeon Akiba in Mandaluyong City, this is episode 50 - with JM Cruz of Project:Materia, Tito Natz of CH4U, Tito Dann Avellano and Tito Ferrari Lacson of Dungeon Akiba.
In celebration of recording and doing 50 podcast episodes (I have not yet reached 50 podcast episodes until now, by the way), I got my good friends to join me in discussing what was being an anime fan like in the 90s, as well as IBC TV 13's ongoing plan to revive their golden age - which includes airing anime amid their financial status.
Recorded live on Facebook from Dungeon Akiba in Mandaluyong City, this is episode 49 - with JM Cruz of Project:Materia, Tito Natz of CH4U and Tito Dann Avellano.
We talked about the recent incidents in the Malaysian ACG community where foreign cosplayer guests are being arrested for the lack of proper permits / visa etc., which is a serious community issue altogether.
Just a few days after Johnny Kitagawa's passing, Neojaponisme posted a series of tweets detailing why the Johnny's Entertainment empire was "detrimental to the quality of Japanese music industry over the last four decades."
Last but not the least, we discussed the detention of an alleged former MangaMura website admin, how the culture of piracy led us to content addiction and how hard life will be if we are deprived of content.
Just a quick episode drop before I get to ACX Day 2 - I talked about the Code Geass Re:Surrection movie (spoilers ahead), Blinks vs Shopee, and my thoughts before entering ACX Day 2.
As a bonus, I have a few unreleased recordings from Pinoy Otaku Festival that I hope you enjoy. See ya later!
I recorded this podcast on a different location, hence the different kind of setup than usual. This is to show my friends how I create content. Serena joins me in this discussion about the simultanous anime film screenings held at SM Megamall last Saturday, as well as other topics that we can crunch in 30 minutes or so.
Three episodes to go before the big 5-0, what do you want me to talk about?
Finally, a new episode after two weeks.
On this episode, we will feature the Idol Panel I did with Wiljanz, Tanchikon, Yonette (Lorenzo), and Trina (from Ivy! Musume), as well as a brief chat with SeikaON (Chiyo, from Asterism) and her sub-unit SeKiSei which has been set up real quick.
To celebrate the 45th episode, we took it to get more fans involved on a live chat that is broadcast on Facebook.
Vinny of 48G Philippines, "Woken Matt" Feito Primus, "Faithful" Ahdrian, "Cloud Niner" Jaycee, CH4U's Tito Natz, and Idle Talks' Ellie Nogami join me on this landmark podcast to discuss the events that have happened after the MNL48 Second General Election.
We're now into the last part of our VOTEMNL48 project with the NICE ONES on board. Plus, a sneak peek into my first guest appearance on The Lily Cat podcast (see the full episode here). Happy long weekend!
We are now on the second episode of our #VOTEMNL48 series - this time, fans speak about Ash and Joyce and why they are worthy of your votes in the 2nd General Election.
For the first ever episode in a series of tentatively-titled VOTEMNL48 podcasts in line with MNL48's Second General Election, we talked to Ahdrian representing MNL48 Faith, and the Friends Fries fan club of Shaira and Shaina, perhaps the only twin idols in the AKB48 Group.
Next episode will be lively and full of joy in the clouds.
I learned the term "fishing" in the local idol context through my peers, and this is perhaps the focal point of my discussion with Stan Galupo of Back2Gaming's MNL48 Weekly. On this episode we talked about our thoughts before the MNL48 Living the Dream Concert, as well as mentioned the events which will be happening on the same day as the concert.
[Erratum] Jaydee has 3,000+ followers, Stan has told me, not 4,000.
This episode is so long it's spicy. Y'know, I was supposed to cut this into two parts but I decided against doing so as we won't get the message across. It has to be in one package.
Stan Galupo joins me in discussing the possibilities of what radical MNL48 fanatics can do to destroy the franchise itself, and what happens after. My message is clear: You've already been desensitized in rallying against the management that you forgot these possibilities. You're also alienating the casuals to leave the fandom. Let's not be like this, shall we?
I got Stan Galupo of Back2Gaming's MNL48 Weekly on the podcast, and before we delve on the meat of the matter which is MNL48 itself, we recalled the good times in the Cosplay community. Also, Stan gives us a peek on how he writes about the Filipina idol group.
This is like the calm before the storm. Next episode's going to be spicy.
With the 2nd General Election coming up this April, we're already at the point where tensions are high. On this episode, I talked to Ellie Nogami and Reginan Abang as well as discussed the said election straight from the horse's mouth as told by Anime Pilipinas on their bombshell story that made the fandom go nuts.
We're open for MNL48 fan clubs to campaign for their oshi and the 2nd General Election on this podcast. Check my Twitter for more details.
It's election season here in the Philippines, and with that are the news and conspiracies that run amok, confusing and (chances are) misleading people.
Aside from the National Elections, the MNL48 Second General Election is coming up, as well as the Pinoy Otaku Festival's Otaku Choice Awards. This episode puts more spotlight in the latter.
#VOTEkeepsakes. as your online media brand, as well as my endorsed nominees: Check the list here.
Just an hour after Otakufest 2019 has ended, we look back at one of Cebu's biggest events with Serena of The Lily Cat and the city's Cosplay Event Buzzer Gary Montejo. This is the second part, recorded from Jollibee at Super Metro Besak.
Just an hour after Otakufest 2019 has ended, we look back at one of Cebu's biggest events with Serena of The Lily Cat and the city's Cosplay Event Buzzer Gary Montejo. This is the first part, recorded from SM Seaside City Cebu.
From the Manila Domestic Passenger Terminal (aka NAIA Terminal 4), Serena from The Lily Cat and yours truly talk about the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, Phantom of the Opera, and Cebu's Otakufest 2019 just a few hours before we take flight going to the Queen City of the South.
It's a privilege to have JM Cruz of Project Materia on this podcast, as he shares the story of the band and its plan to come up with a major project that they can call as their own.
I got Serena (The Lily Cat) back in this discussion about Wonder Festival Winter 2019, and we tried to get the relevance of this in the Filipino context while gushing on the announced figures as we try to imagine (or remember) it.
We're now on our 30th Episode! Thank you very much for listening all the way. I've got Anime Corner Philippines' Marlo Barcellano to talk about the possible impacts (if there are any) of the dissolution of the Crunchyroll-Funimation partnership. (This segment has been edited for clarity after we experienced technical issues beyond my control.)
This also includes a brief chat with Sofia Abigaile Sanches, Student Category Winner of the 2018 Nihongo Speech Contest as we look forward to this year's contest (I've featured her on the online journal).
It's just a few weeks before Otakufest 2019 in Cebu, and I'm looking forward to see you all there alright.
As part of my 10th year in the anime/cosplay circle, I'm bringing back an old recording from 2011.
Meidolls Cafe was then the first maid/cosplay cafe outside of anime/cosplay events, and when the recording was done, they were at one corner inside Saunterfield Building in Cainta. After a month, they were able to move to a noticeable space in the same building, until they stopped operations around a year after.

Our next episode comes from Bayanihan Center in Pasig where the first Anime Idol Convention (AICon) was held, gathering an estimated 300 anidol fans. You'll hear a lot from the people who are present there in this episode.
Hey guys!
I asked Serena from The Lily Cat to recommend me Yuri anime, and as a trusted source on this matter, she gave me A LOT. Go listen to our casual Yuri discussion.
This will probably be the last podcast for the month, as I pursue other things - but I'll be back for more discussions next month from AICon 2019 as well as the Queen City of the South as I will be attending Otakufest 2019 from February 24-25. See you soon!
Maayong buntag (from this Tagala right here - Good morning!)
I talked with Cebu City's Gary Montejo, and asked him about the tasks, the challenges and the greatest keepsakes he has so far as the city's Cosplay Event Buzzer who spreads the word on upcoming events in the city.
As soon as you see this, i'm already at AICon at Bayanihan Center Pasig - see you there!
Happy New Year!
Welcoming the first podcast of 2018 is Anime Pilipinas Executive Editor JM Melegrito as we discuss the Shonen Jump digital service (which is available in the Philippines) and its importance for Filipino manga readers, as well as continuing a discussion on "Con Fatigue" coined by The Reimaru Files (in which I was a guest panelist for their RF Talks Episode 16).
I also checked in with JM on what's happening to Anime Pilipinas as they are changing their brand for 2019.
What's happening before the year ends, and what's in ot for the podcast this 2019 - that's our episode 23. (It's been a long time since I did this, so inevitably I'll forget the episode count again.)
As I celebrate Protektor's birthday just before the crowd gets to his place, I talked to him about his recent journey to Taiwan and his perspective on local aidorus in 2019. Also, I mentioned upcoming events for December.
The latest episode of the podcast is recorded from High Grounds Cafe in Quezon City, during the sidelines of MIA Online Mobile's launch. I'm joined by KLAGER (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqd6Gmqni35MnYYeMrfl4GA/about), Storm (http://www.brentertainment.tv/), Mr. Lucha of the Manila Wrestling Federation and Louis from The Reimaru Files (reimarufiles.com) among others. the first half is about games and the state of gaming streamers in the country in a nutshell; followed by discussions on wrestling including from heel/face to John Cena and Roman Reigns.
How my life has been after getting immersed to MNL48 and independent idols?
After this podcast, I will be on a break to focus on my work. I shall get back to you soon with the biggest project I will do for this year.
This episode spans 5 segments recorded all throughout the month - some segments are on Facebook live, some can only be heard only in this podcast. I shared what grinds my gears about marketing self-published books, my thoughts on strawless restaurants and habit-forming, Barangay 143's pre-TV screening and a few segments from the September JYA JYA FAIBO WAIPA Facebook live, all recorded this October.

If you're keen enough to notice, Episode 1 has gone missing because some of the files were lost, but thankfully I got a backup of this one.
I was talking about MNL48 and the Conditional Access on Digital TV. Enjoy the first episode that started my podcasting activities all over again.
(You may hear me saying this is Episode 16 but I lost count, my apologies.)
The latest episode of keepsakes. is taken from a streamed discussion of Jay with Daddy Faith himself, considered the father of ISDB-T in the Philippines, Mr. James Santiago after the recently-held 1st Manila Idol Matsuri 2018 at the TIU Theater in Makati City last Sunday, September 2.
