Season 2.0 - Dave & Paul - Talk professional websites trailer
Dave & Paul - Talk professional websites
This is a slight change in direction for us, as we are going to talk about how you can build a website, the process you should go through and what you need to think about when doing it. We have been building websites for 20+ years, so we really are moving onto solid ground for us. David is an ex teacher and taught web design before starting his own studio. Paul started with SEO, moving onto web design, so we are coming at it from different directions.
Episode 1 goes live on 18th August 2021 - See you then
No 9 - Have we lost the 'Work Ethic' and how does that relate to workers rights and the Woke generation
This week we try and cover a lot of ground, all related but a big topic, the main conversation is about 'Work Ethic' have we lost it? What has society done to it, and why does it feel like a 'dirty word' sometimes. We also talk about How workers rights can impact on it and also The Woke generation, does that also have an impact?
No 8 - How to win back customers, and how not to lose them in the first place
We talk this week about why businesses lose customers, and tactics to help you not lose them in the first place, we have some experiences of our own about losing customers and how our attitude in some instances won them back again. We also talk about why it is simply better to try and keep the customers you have, rather than constantly attracting new customers.
No 7 - Is cycling the new business networking opportunity?
We talk about cycling as the new networking, about cycling in general, our rides, how to make cycling more inclusive along with some anecdotes and examples of how other group activities have been opened up to new parts of the community.
No 6 - Getting back into the office
This week we talk about the challenges for businesses getting back into the office after such a long period of enforced home working. We discuss how this will look and what might change, we also talk about the different perspectives people will have, depending on their role and current situation. I also have a little rant about the cost of commuting!
No 5 - Hybrid Working
Hybrid Working
This week we talk about how we think the world of work is going to look soon, with a combination of home working, office working & co-working spaces. We share some of our tips and also our thoughts on how to make it work well for your business and your staff with as little loss of productivity as possible.
No 4 - What is the value in free things?
Giving things away for free can be more complicated than it would seem, and sends all kinds of messages. In this episode we chat about how this is seen by the recipients and what we think it says about you and your business.
So when should you give something for free, and when should you resist, with some examples from our personal lives.
We chat a little about the business networking we do, as this is also based on giving away technical information to people to help them.
There are moral and ethical aspects to this question - by no means are we saying don't give - because Kehorne already do a lot for charities, but with proper care and attention the value of what you are giving must be recognised.
No 3 - On growing your business and why?
In this episode we look at the business you might be working in or actually running and how to look at it from different perspectives. Should you be growing your business and how you should be doing it. Its all about the options available.
Perhaps a great way to start is looking at the end and we discuss why this can be important.
We look at why having someone from outside looking in is so important and the type of person you use for this is critical and we talk about the personal experiences we have had on this.
No 2 - Customer service and using this to look at how the supply chain gets treated
In this episode we are talking about the traditional view of customer service - the standard B to C, but how this translates into treating your supply chain. A business often treats these two areas very differently, but why? Is the review system up to the job or are certain businesses running scared of a bad review? We talk about some personal experiences to lend some weight to our points.....
SPECIAL - May the 4th be with you - STAR WARS Special
We are developers, so we naturally love Star Wars, we could not let May the 4th go by without putting together a Star Wars special, we try and look at the legacy of Star Wars and its cultural legacy, but we also talk a little about other things surrounding it. We had a lot of fun putting this together, we hope you have as much fun listening to it.
No 1 - How has office communication changed, and how have we coped in the last 15 months
Communication and the future of office communications. We give the listener a little background on who we are (David and Paul) and the company we work in - Kehorne and where we were at before Lockdown. As a flexible employer we might have been better placed to deal with the changes that were about to happen but we still had issues to work through and we discuss how to went about this and the technology we used to enable us to achieve the necessary comminutions to keep the staff motivated and the work continuing.
We discuss the rules we put in place and the channels we use today to keep the team on track, with a slight discussion on the future of team communications.
