Social Studies is History, Geography, Culture, Economy and Government. They all interconnect. In our "history" we know civilizations sometimes survive and sometimes crumble for many reasons. If you were our leader, how would you prevent our very young civilizations called America from crumbling?

Our final episodes' topic: Let's create our perfect civilization based on and givinng references from our past civilization's: history, culture, government, economy and geography.
Episode 11
Topic: What are the most important concepts to learn in school to create a strong civilization and why? Our panel had many ideas of how to keep our civilization strong starting the here and now. Reading and being informed is of greatest importance. Internalizing and analyzing literatrue and facts and applying them today with an open mind and as our panel said "Teachability" is greatly needed; however, not fully activated. It was also suggested that our understanding of math in terms of numbers to connect with economy and government is so crucial.

Episode 10: Slinger Middle Schooler's Talk
Based on past responses, Slinger Middle Schooler's discussion topic for this episode is : Episode 10: Is it appropriate for governments to limit their citizens’ freedom of speech? This discussion has many twists and turns as we interpret what is appropriate for governments to do in our opinion, we tie it to past civilizations and bring back to today.
Episode 9: February
Based on student input our episode 9 is a panel of past participants discussing the topic: Is democracy the future of the entire world? How this question is interrupted will lead us to discuss the past, present and future of what a democracy is to us and the world. We end with what we can do to continue this in 5 words or less.

Our topic in Episode 8 again stems from our prior episodes. The natural discussion leads us to discuss: “What is the most important part of our history to help us in the present and make our future secure?”
As our panel realized and discussed, there are so many major areas of importance for all of us to learn and pay attention to; however, what is the most important? You may be surprised at what the outcome of our discussion turned out to be. It might even cause us to think… maybe our new podcast name should be….

Episode 5: What is Social Studies and why do we study it?
This week our panel accentuates on the fact that Social Studies is history but it is so much more. Tolerance and culture entered the conversation. As we continue discussing Hammurabi's Code and relating it to other government systems became center focus. Making connections to current books and literature also entered the conversation. Perspective in laws and how we approach our study of Socials Studies is a great connection with a great discussion from this panel.

Today's panel did an outstanding job of discussing what they think Social Studies is and why we study it. The major theme started with the idea of learning from the past to how technology can be both positive and negative and it is up to us to use it for the good.
Great job to all the panel for their knowledge, research, connecting to their classes and the real world.

2022 Final Episode SMS Talks
Today we are joining together many of our students from ALL of our previous panels to talk about the many questions and thoughts about Social Studies and why we study history. We have our brilliant minds of our students discuss and continue our connections to geography, religions culture, government and/or economy in ancient times and how it connects to today.
Our question today is: "What is one major fact that we have learned about The Middle Ages that will help us now and in the future?"
