Kendra needs a babbling brook, but gets a babbling Ken instead

What a week. Ken and Kendra talk Twin Peaks: The Return, True Blood, and Men In Black. Is it too much scifi? No such thing.

Kendra & Ken’s all-time top 5: Peri, Peri, Peri, Peri & Joan Cusack

Kendra & Ken’s all-time top 5: Peri, Peri, Peri, Peri & Joan Cusack

Our alternate title: Kendra and Ken ask Jake Lacy to warm their butters

In this episode, we discuss High Fidelity, the new Hulu show, that Kendra watched despite being afraid of commitment while being so committed to staying in her apartment.  It stars Zoë Kravitz and she is utterly cool in this and probably real life. Listen to the ep and get our thoughts on the whole thing.

Ken and Kendra put on their bonnets and talk Emma

In this episode, Ken and Kendra casually talk about coronavirus for the first 5 minutes and then stop talking about it completely and instead shift to Emma! It's a movie directed by Autumn de Wilde and is very fun and good. We talk about Johnny Flynn, Anya Taylor Joy, and our true enjoyment of cinema!

Ken and Kendra break up with the Joker and now THEY run this town.

Ken and Kendra break up with the Joker and now THEY run this town.

Kendra and Ken saw Birds of Prey, etc, etc and they really liked it! With some quibbles. But Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Journee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress and Rosie Perez make it all so much fun! Ewan McGregor and Chris Messina play the bad guys and they’re mostly fun to watch too. The plot was a lot, the editing was a bit much, but the movie was kind of just right. We recommend. Ken also recommends First Cow, Kelly Reichardt’s latest slow-burning masterpiece about friendship on the American frontier in the early 19th century. Kendra responds, “ooo look at me, I’m Ken, I watch indie movies, ooo, I’m a precious little boy!” Aw, they love each other. See you all next week!

Locke and Key is set in a fictional Massachusetts town, Kendra relates

Kendra is here to talk about her favorite things: Peri Gilpin, The 100 and now, Locke and Key. Ken is all ears, and no key teeth. He also recommends Kendra’s latest bonus ep of Someone Lived Here, wherein she visited and discussed Orchard House, a childhood home of Louisa May Alcott. He does not recommend Alien 3, which he rewatched recently after about 25 years. He’s been telling people that it’s not half bad. Which is true, because it’s all bad. He also suggests not trying to scare yourself by looking into a mirror in a dark bathroom. Yes, he’s weird. Anyway, enjoy the show!

We get an Oscar by changing Ken's name to Oscar

We get an Oscar by changing Ken's name to Oscar

Kendra and Ken talks Oscars! They’re happy about Parasite, sad about Great Gerwig’s loss, and truly still befuddled about the reason behind Eminem’s performance. They approve of Pitt and Dern, but wonder what Renee Zellweger’s speech was about. They know what Joaquin Phoenix speech was about: milk! They also take the time to declare their sickness, as well as their full support for Kendra’s other podcast. It’s called Someone Lived Here and there’s a bonus ep out now about the Louisa May Alcott house. Ken is in no way jealous about this other podcast and has no problems with Kendra’s two-timing, backstabbing nature. Finally, in light of awards season being over, they wanted to remind everyone about the original impetus of the podcast: the utter shock that Peri Gilpin never won an Emmy for Frasier. These award shows need to get their act together! See you next week!

Kendra and Ken discuss Sex Education, ie the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kendra and Ken discuss Sex Education, ie the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kendra and Ken are back, talking Super Bowl Surprises, Oscar snoozes, but mostly the beautiful intricacies of the Netflix show Sex Education. Kendra ranks the villains of the show, while Ken defends the lead character Otis, perhaps protesting too much. Ken also shouts out the music on the show, particularly Ezra Furman whose soundtrack for the show has just recently been released. Of course Gillian Anderson rules. But they both want to take the time to point out the bright shining brilliance of Ncuti Gatwa, who plays Eric. He’s the heart and soul of the show, and the main reason they both call the show one of their favs. Also one of their favs? Peri Gilpin, of course! See you next week!

Ken fights the final boss in 1917, Bill Nighy in Detective Pikachu

Ken fights the final boss in 1917, Bill Nighy in Detective Pikachu

Ken and Kendra are back, discussing lost dogs, the year 1917, Henry Cavill’s thighs and Bill Nighy becoming a Pokémon Pokéman. Ken really loved 1917 (The Movie) but doesn’t want it to win Best Picture. Kendra saw Detective Pokémon and doesn’t want it to win best picture either. She also finished The Witcher on Netflix. She remains disturbed (impressed?) by Henry’s ham hocks. Ken thought he lost his dog but she was just in the other room, dreaming about Henry’s ham hocks. Kendra and Ken’s dog then had a discussion about Henry’s ham hocks. Ken, feeling left out of this ham talk, daydreamed of a Parasite. No, not trichinosis. He really wants the movie to win at the Oscars. Anyway, have a listen. It’s a good one. See you next week!

Kendra and Ken talk Oscars! Dogs! Cavills!

Kendra and Ken talk Oscars! Dogs! Cavills!

Kendra and Ken talk Oscars! Dogs! Cavills! Atwells! And classic modern Westerns from 1971! Kendra, coming off the high of adding copper highlights to her newly self-furbished kitchen, wonders if she has time for Cavill and his monster hi-jinx in The Witcher on Netflix. But sure, why the hell not, she’s game! Ken, coming off the high of finally seeing Robert Altman’s 1971 classic anti-western McCabe & Mrs. Miller, as well as getting a dog whom he already loves and adores more than anything, also loved and adored the Starz-BBC joint-joint Howard’s End. Hayley Atwell shines in it. Ken pleads, “Put Hayley Atwell in more things!” Kendra agrees but Ken can tell her thoughts are elsewhere. She’s dreaming of more copper. ‘More copper, less bards’ is her motto. It makes sense if you listen to the ep! Anyway, hi Peri!

Kendra Raves. Ken Rants. The dynamic duo is back!

Kendra Raves. Ken Rants. The dynamic duo is back!

Please join Kendra and Ken in celebrating the 2010s. They’re gone but only the first half of the decade is forgotten. Ken rants and then Kendra raves...about her fav shows from the last 10 years. She reiterates Fleabag’s greatness but also brings up faves The 100 and The Leftovers. She also laments the early canceling or Sweet/Vicious, an MTV show ahead of its time in rightfully hating men. Ken does his part to be hateable by revealing that his best-of-the-decade movie list is made up of 15 flicks and 10 more as an honorable mention. His top two aren’t surprising but neither are the rest of his picks, don’t you worry. We’re excited to move into 2020, even with all the problems in the world. As Brad Pitt said at the Globs (sic) last night, “if you see a chance to be kind to someone tomorrow, take it...I think we need it.” We agree!

Hi Peri! We wish you happiest New Year!

Kendra grants herself a birthday wish: zero dystopian tubes

Kendra grants herself a birthday wish: zero dystopian tubes

This week is robot themed. Kendra talks about her in-flight films that all centered around robots. Alita: Battle Angel and A.X.L. The first one is about a society with cyborgs that includes a floating metropolis fed by tubes. Not cool for the people who have to keep the tubes fed.

A.X.L is about a BMX biker who befriends a violent military dog robot. It is very bad and was a mistake. Ken tried to get in a couple of words about Terminator movies, but NOPE -- no time. Only weird robot movies, non successful franchises invited.

And our connection to Peri Gilpin is she was in How to Kill Your Neighbors Dog with Jared Harris. Who is in Carnival Row, which Kendra WILL be watching.
