Word Culture

By Kenneth Igiri

Pouring out my deepest thoughts regarding my personal Faith, sharing what many choose not to talk about. Extreme Extra-Biblical Contemplations.

Venture only if you are open enough to explore beyong tradition and authentic enough to know that truth does not fear scrutiny.

To me, discovery is an act of worship and discovery requires enquiry - a journey that helps us displace dogma and embrace truth. We do not claim to have all the answers, we just want freedom to ask all our questions.

We Have to Be Sure About this One

We Have to Be Sure About this One

There are fundamental questions we have to ask about our existence. Is there a Creator? How does He interact with His creation? What has He offered us to be part of His plan? We must explore and be certain of our position on these and more.

Does God Make People Successful?

Maybe. But if we were to do a scientific study, we may not find that all successful people are godly. We may also need to define success.

What Are Our Prayer Points

What Are Our Prayer Points

What consumes our prayer meetings? Prayers for more personal comfort? What would God have us be enthusiastic about bringing to Him in prayer? What did the men and women in Scripture spend time praying for?

Being Prayerful vs. Being Practical

Being Prayerful vs. Being Practical

Should we be praying for a transformer, a car, government, and so forth? What are the boundaries of divine intervention. Did God rest after creation and leave us to our own devices? This is a contemplation about the balance between being spiritual and being strategic; being prayerful, and being practical.

Cornelius & the Memorial

Cornelius & the Memorial

Some quarters teach that we can move the hand of God with our given citing the example of cornelius. We also wonder whether we can trigger an appearance of the Lord Jesus by persecuting Christians.

To You It is Given

To You It is Given

Some things are simple given to some people. Faith is a response to God's promise, not so much our idea. Think about the ship in James's context. There was no engine, you had to align the rudder with the power of the ocean.

Embracing Our Heritage | African Identity in the Modern Era | Dr. Ronke Babajide

"Who you are is what makes you special. Don't change for anyone. Maintain your identity, that matters most." - Dr. Anil Kumar Sinha  The typical African appears to be always at the receiving end - receiving aid and content to only consume what the rest of the world produces.

Some posit that this may be a case of inferiority complex created by experiences that have robbed many of us of the pride we ought to take in our heritage.  We often seek validation from the rest of the world. Our sense of worth is defined by how much we have embraced other cultures, memorized the history of other people groups, mastered foreign languages and the likes.

Our appetite for anything from "abroad" never seems to be satiated.   In this edition of the Truth Interviews we asked poignant questions about our identity as Africans. Is there any originality left in us? Do we have anything significant to offer the world? Are we excluding ourselves from the global village square by calling for local content? Does it even make sense to talk about an "African Identity"?

If He Gave Us Jesus, He Will Give Us All Things

Drawing from Roman's 8:31-33, we emphasize that the only way we know that God really gave us Jesus Christ from Heaven is that He still releases things from Heaven even today. And nothing can stop us from receiving what is released.

Abel Mizraim

Abel Mizraim

Abel Mizraim means "The outcry of Egypt". This was a label given to Jacob's burial ceremony by the terebinth of Mamre. It is an intriguing one because Jacob and his son Joseph who took him there were both Hebrews. However, the influence of Joseph on Egypt was so strong that the world had come to identify him with Egypt.

Love Differs from Sex

Jacob had four children with Leah yet Leah was the unloved wife. This is a dilemma women can experience even in marriage. The man loves sex but doesn't love the woman he is having sex with.
