Don't set up a false dichotomy between making money and being concerned for people. Compassion and business are not at odds. You don't need to choose one or the other. You can do both. Often, growing your business can help a lot of people.

There are some parts of your new business that you're going to just have to take a deep breath and wing it. Put something out there, see what happens.

Here's a quick answer to a question I was asked on the twitters about why The Nights and Weekends Podcast has gone kinda silent this year.

Sometimes, life gives you natural stopping points for time blocking.

Examples:

• Work on this task until the kids get off the bus. 
• Think about this coupon strategy until it's time for that meeting. 
• Work on that UX problem until timer on the oven says that the lasagna is done. 
• Work on the app (from my laptop, on the couch) until the baseball game is finished.

Ahhh, the best laid plans.

Sometimes, life throws you a curve ball and you accidentally pull an all-nighter.

Big picture thinking, vs. task-oriented focus.

Sometimes, you just gotta keep your nose to the grind stone and execute on the vision. Sometimes, though, you need to rethink that overall vision.

Here's where it gets tough... you can't do both at the same time.
