And I can't and I can attest to that. Yes. I was born in Jamaica, Montego Bay, and I grew up in New York, upstate New York, Albany, New York. So welcome Caribbean connection. Yes, yes. Yeah. Also, so Yeah, go ahead. Tell us a bit more about yourself as well.

Definitely so I, pretty much I went to college in Virginia, I went to Norfolk State University shout out to my Spartans.

That's honestly where my natural hair journey began. I wore permed hair growing up, my parents permed my hair. And so all my life I had a permed in college. I found out about all the chemicals and everything that's in perm. And I decided to go natural. And so I started this crazy roller coaster over natural hair journey. And it took me years to finally get it right, which is where I'm at now. So I decided to share my journey on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and then that's how my youtube channel kind of got started. And then since I love to travel, I wanted to share some of my travel journeys with everyone as well. So what was the real inspiration with the travel, where to actually came from? {Listen to the full episode]

So how's the town you said it's a small town there. Yes. So small-town population is about 10,000 people very, very small.

It's one of those times where everybody knows everybody, everybody knows everybody's business. You know, one big old, ginormous family.

See what inspired me to become natural? , to be honest, my first thought was different. and then I had to do a little bit of research. I asked questions because I have some friends that are natural and we just got to talk, going about it in everything and then that's when I learned I'm like whoa so okay this is the hair day you know God has blessed me with and here I am you know putting these harsh chemicals on my hair we got to do something about this. Yes, I was like oh no, no, no no, we're not be putting in on my hair anymore. Interview with Shaunte' of Head 2 Souls-Cometologist

Interview with Shaunte' of Head 2 Souls-Cometologist

We have a great phenomenal woman and her name is Shaunte'. She is the owner of Head 2 Souls. She provides services in the cosmetic industry, catering towards skincare and also hair care. Shaunte', are you there? I'm so glad to have you on this podcast so you can share what you do, what you love, and what is great about your business because we are excited to hear about it. I'm excited to hear about it because there is someone out there that can benefit from you and to get to know you more of what you do. Yes. Awesome. So, you just disclosed to me that you are a cosmetologist, correct? Yes. Awesome. We would like to know what inspired you to become a cosmetologist.

It goes back like now I'm approaching 30, but I was 16, 15 years old doing my friend's hair and my mom's hair and doing things out of the box and growing. And my mom was just like, you gotta give baby, you should be doing this. Then I went to college, kinda let some stuff, getting away and let different, life factors get in the way and I thought that I wanted to do other things. And then I had to be reminded and turn back the whole one 80, like, okay, what are you doing? And why aren't you doing hair

Right? 2017, after going to college, getting my business degree, I stopped managing. I had a whole store that I was managing. I stopped doing everything and went to school to do hair. And now three years later, I'm in a salon. I have a haircare and skincare line. It's just like, I'm growing in my purpose now. And I'm finally to the point where it's like, okay, this is where I'm supposed to be. I was supposed to do cosmetology. And I'm so happy that I finally figured it out and turned the wheel and came back to where I was supposed to be from that dream at 15.

Oh, wow. So you already knew when you were 15 years old of what you wanted to become later on because it was like instilled in you as a passion. That hair was something that you wanted to be, be doing, correct?

Yes. Yes. I enjoy doing hair. My mom's hair, my friend's hair, my sister's hair, her friend's hair. They would just come over and be like, curl my hair really fast. I gotta go do something tonight. I gotta go sing in a show tonight, do my hair really fast. So I'm like, okay. And then it was just, it was easy. It came naturally. I didn't have to work hard to do it. And I always believe if you don't have to work hard to do something, that's what you meant to do.

I was doing other things and going other routes. And then I said, okay, why did I change my plan at 15? I said I'm going to go to college and get a four-year degree. And then I'm going to go to cosmetology school, get my license so I can run a profitable and a good growing and a business-minded salon versus somebody that's just going out and saying, I'm about to own a salon and don't have a clue about any business.

So you just had to get business-oriented, orientated, and business, um, educated. So make sure that you have everything lined up, what you need to do, because it does take knowledge in order to run a business. [Listen to the full episode]

Hydration and Moisture Approach for Natural Hair

Hydration and Moisture Approach for Natural Hair

Natural hаir hаѕ itѕ virtues. It’s free оf hаrmful chemical рrосеѕѕеѕ аnd can bе еаѕiеr to mаintаin. But giving уоur frаgilе natural hаir the mоiѕturе it so desperately nееdѕ саn bе a сhаllеngе. Depending оn your hаir’ѕ сurl pattern аnd tеxturе, it саn be diffiсult tо kеер nаturаl tresses hуdrаtеd. Although the hаir follicles оf African-American hаir actually рrоduсе рlеntу оf ѕеbum, thе oil is nоt еvеnlу diѕtributеd. With tightly соilеd or ѕрirаl-ѕhареd hаir fоlliсlеѕ, it’ѕ оftеn harder for nаturаl оilѕ from thе scalp to trаvеl down thе hаir ѕhаft. Pluѕ, the роrоѕitу оf nаturаl hаir саn аffесt hоw wеll it absorbs and retains the moisture thаt’ѕ ѕо vitаl fоr thе hеаlth and еlаѕtiсitу оf уоur strands.

Each hair iѕ surrounded bу a gland whiсh ѕuррliеѕ it with a natural оil саllеd ѕеbum. Thiѕ оil iѕ mеаnt to lubricate аnd waterproof thе hair and ѕkin whilе рrоtесting it frоm bасtеriа аnd fungi. The tightеr thе сurlѕ аnd kinkiеr thе tеxturе it is almost imроѕѕiblе fоr thе ѕеbum tо travel and соаt the whоlе strand. Thiѕ mеаnѕ that сurlу hаir tуреѕ don’t have that essential lауеr оf oil and it is рrоnе to dryness аnd dehydration as moisture is able to lеаvе freely.

Tо hуdrаtе ѕimрlу means tо аdd wаtеr. Water соntеnt of thе hаir iѕ рrimаrilу bаѕеd оn the humiditу оf thе аir around it and will always аim to bе in еԛuilibrium. Sо if you live ѕоmеwhеrе with lоw humidity уоur hаir will bе mоrе рrоnе tо dryness.

Mоiѕturizing iѕ ѕоmеwhаt of a trick tеrm. At first glаnсе, it may imрlу аdding moisture or wаtеr into the hаir but it’ѕ mаin purpose is to ѕеаl оr lосk that moisture intо thе hаir strand. They create a barrier around thе hair ѕо thаt water does not lеасh out and give the hаir a boost оf kеу ingredients thаt саn bе uѕеd tо rераir оr сrеаtе bоndѕ thаt will make it ѕtrоngеr and mоrе rеѕiliеnt.

A gооd mоiѕturizеr will uѕuаllу be wаtеr based аnd have a mix оf оthеr grоuрѕ of ingrеdiеntѕ inсluding еmоlliеntѕ, оilѕ and liрidѕ. Avоid рrоduсtѕ that соntаin alcohols оr ѕуnthеtiс frаgrаnсе and рrеѕеrvаtivеѕ. These соmроundѕ can оftеn hаvе аn adverse еffесt оn thе hаir аnd scalp over timе аnd work against thе аimѕ of a mоiѕturizеr.

Juѕt likе thе bоdу, hаir nееdѕ wаtеr to maintain healthy ѕtrаndѕ. Whеn it comes tо naturally moisturizing hаir, thiѕ рrесiоuѕ liԛuid iѕ second only tо sebum. Hаir needs wаtеr to hеlр maintain elasticity аnd ѕtrеtсh without brеаking оff, which can еаѕilу hарреn when you mаniрulаtе brеаkаgе-рrоnе nаturаl hаir with ѕtуling аnd wаѕhing. But liquids аlоnе dоn’t hydrate hair. In fact, withоut applying a mоiѕturizеr, water саn саuѕе drуnеѕѕ because upon itѕ еvароrаtiоn, the hаir driеѕ аnd mоiѕturе can drain from thе outer layer (cortex). [Listent to the Full Espisode]

What Does Natural Hair Mean to You ?

What Does Natural Hair Mean to You ?

Welcome back to Lumynex Essentials Textured Talk Podcast. I am your host Kerone Maxineau. I am your

natural care consultant, author, and your natural girl champion. I'm in the business of inspiring and empowering women with natural afro-textured hair to overcome those challenges and those unknown certainties so that she can be on a path to achieving healthy and or growing natural hair and if that's you, girl, I give you praise!

Welcome back! Thank you for listening in tuning in and inviting your curly girlfriends. Today, I want to touch a highlight on what does it mean to have naturally curly or coiled hair? I cannot speak for everyone, but I can speak personally for myself. One thing I can say that we all agree upon is that we do have a love and a hate relationship sometimes with our hair and we do experience those challenges where we feel like I cannot bother with my hair today and then we have those good days. So, I can agree with that. Do you agree with that? Great!

Well, what does it mean for me to have naturally tightly coiled hair? I know that when I made the transition about over 10 years ago. I had no idea. I was lost. 1 was confused. I did not really know how to take care of my hair. I was turning into YouTube, reading blogs, and following what the girls were doing and I did the same thing. Until I realized what they did, it did not work for me because it wasn't my hair as compared to their hair. My hair was totally different. I was trying to make my hair be like their hair but that wasn't my hair. My hair is only unique to me. I had to learn how to first accept my hair the way it is and then I had to dive deeper into how I can better understand my hair and what approaches were needed. I then I discovered a regimen that I never knew what a regimen was. I needed a regimen for my hair and that was the starting point that led me to understand a hair care regimen is what I need in order to be successful in my hair care journey.

Let me know was that your experience or something similar to mine. Having a hair care regimen and having a hair care regimen then I understood how it can apply to my own naturally tightly coiled hair. The one thing I do love about our hair is that it is so unique. It has such a unique texture compared to any other race. You see black hair gives significance and has power. That it can create political concerns,

barriers, divisions, and oh my god texture discrimination or even the other discrimination. You know what I'm talking about within our own black community. However, there are some women out there that still see their hair as a problem and not consider it as a blessing. I found out if we continue to carry this lie that our hair that naturally grows from our scalp. How can we set an example to our black little girls who truly love themselves right now and not aware of the out lash or put too much concern about her hair? [Listen to the Full Episode]

How To Reach Your Hair Goals?

How To Reach Your Hair Goals?

Hello and welcome back again. I'm so happy that you decided to tune in, to listen in, to get another natural hair strategies so you can apply in your journey. Hi and welcome back. My name is Kerone Maxineau. I am a natural hair consultant, author, and your natural curl girl. I'm in the business of inspiring and empowering women with Afro-textured hair so that she can feel confident. Let's worry some and less stressful when a constant taking care of her hair so that she can love and embrace it entirely.

Now, I just want to give you a little background about myself. When I went natural, I didn't have the confidence and the assurance to really know how to embrace my hair, much less how to even take care of it. I have done the research. I have read blogs. I even watch YouTube tutorials. But the only thing that really stuck out that helped me was actually researching and applying strategies to my own hair. And from there, I became less worried about how to really rock my hair as of today.

So welcome on today. Again, what we're going to talk about today is, are you developing your natural hair goals? Do you have a set of natural hair goals that you want to pursue? And if you haven't, I will really want you to dive into really look into what goals do you have for your hair? Because you see, when you have a goal, it means that you are working towards that progress. And when you work towards that progress, no matter what stumbling blocks come in.

That progress, you know, you're still reaching to achieve and to accomplish that goal. So what I'm gonna do. I'm going to probe your mind for a second. And I want you to think of these things on these three questions to help you to kind of zone in so you can pull out certain goals that you have for yourself. Now, I'm going to keep it, General, and these may help to trigger some thoughts. I want you to think about this one.

What is a problem you have with your natural hair? Because if you have a problem with your natural hair, there is a solution to solve it. And what is the number one problem that is stopping you to reach that goal that you want for your hair and not leave? What is stopping you right now from getting the hair that you want? So take a minute and think on those questions that I just present presented to you, because they're going to help to pull out.

Why are you embracing your hair and why are you not embracing your hair? Because when you have those goals that you are able to work towards that. Now, when it comes to developing a goal, there has to be a structural design or a map so you can achieve that goal. And having a design and a map is very great. However, they can't become somewhat hard for others or somewhat complex, and sometimes it can become a duplicate. So when you have a design, when you have a map for your natural hair, it can help you to get points. [Listen to the full espisode]

Is Deep Conditioning Needed as Part of Your Hair Regimen?

Is Deep Conditioning Needed as Part of Your Hair Regimen?

I am your host Kerone Maxineau. I am in the business of inspiring and empowering women with natural hair who are experiencing the insecurities, the frustration, and  the uncertainties on how to properly care for the hair. That one thing is getting your hair on point and if you haven't done so I have a brand new natural hair community that is there to support you in your hair journey. Giving you live discussion topics and what you need so you can get started and feel less worried. If you want to know more give me a comment below and I will send you a link to join in that community. We're going talk about today is again I like to keep it brief simple and to the point. Deep conditioning is it really beneficial? Why do we need to do conditioning on our hair? Let me just lay it out for you deep conditioning your hair will definitely be beneficial. Yes it is! Let's see why. Well the purpose of a deep conditioner is to restore and to repair your hair to achieve its optimal strength and elasticity and moisture so a regular conditioner only works on the outside by softening your strands to help to smooth the cuticles lay them down. It can help to restore and flatten the cuticle. When you rinse out the conditioner the conditioner agents are left behind doing their job of repairing and replenishing . This helps your hair to feel soft and manageable. So if you ladies out there who use deep conditioning your hair let me know does your hair feel amazingly soft? Does it feel supple? Does it help with manageability. So deep conditioning  is use in the hair industry as away to deceive consumers. Yes, I'm going to lay it out there. If a deep conditioner does not have any penetrating ingredients in it just to name a few like for example a coconut oil, it is not a deep conditioner. It must have some penetrating oil in it. A company like to add the term deep conditioner or for advertisement purposes so you can spend more money without doing any research because you go by trust. That's why I always advocate before you buy a product always review it and see what others say about it do your research. Often these brands advertise deep conditioners can only come with a hefty price because what they are formulated with. What the ingredients that they put in it and also the brand will put a sticker price is really happy. When you add certain penetrating oils to your conditioner it can help for it to become a deep conditioner. Deep conditioning your hair can be done as often as you like but it goes back to what your hair really needs. Just keep in mind that is that it is not a protein treatment. Don't get it twisted.  Know the difference when using a deep conditioner and doing a protein treatment. No those two are different categories and different needs. Yes. the deep conditioner can have some protein in it but it doesn't necessarily make it a protein treatment. Know the difference. How to Stop Hair Breakage and Shedding?

How to Stop Hair Breakage and Shedding?

Hello and welcome back to another textured hair talk.

How to Stop Hair Breakage and Shedding?

I am your host Kerone Maxineau. I am in the business of inspiring and empowering naturals to succeed in having a healthy customized hair care regimen. So, that she can feel confident to love and embrace her textured hair. So, welcome back on to

today again. If you haven't done so I want you to join this new phenomenal natural hair community where I am welcoming amazing naturals who are tired, frustrated and want to receive that actual support to achieve actual results in order to have healthy and growing hair. To no longer deal with the emotional frustration and the uncertainties and the challenges when it comes to her textured hair. If you want to join that community definitely message me and the link will in description and I will give you further information on that. So let's get started.

Today I am so excited to give you guys another strategy to help you in your journey this we're going talk about is how can we stop natural hair from breaking and shedding. Well obviously we cannot hundred percent let's get real stop it from breaking and shedding. But what we can do in the real world we can minimize that and knowing the difference between those two can help you identify is my hair breaking or is my hair shedding. One way you can know that is the condition and the state of your hair.

If your hair is breaking you know that it breaks from anywhere along the shaft of the hair and if its shedding? Then you know you'll see a white bulb at the end of your hair strand. So, you know that it's shedding. It depends on what is going on with the condition of the hair. Is it a lot of shedding? Is a lot of breakage? We will have to really analyze that. Natural hair can seem to be a struggle for those who are looking to really grow their hair and of course you know that it takes time and patience. When your hair maybe breaking it can become so discouraging and disheartened. You begin to feel all your hard work was just a waste of your time. You even start questioning is it worth it going through all this complication and of course we all feel this way. I am here to tell you right now we've all been through it. I've been through it the breakage the shedding. It may not be on the excessive part because everybody hair condition and state is different. I am here to tell you regardless of where you are in the phase of your hair you are worth it. Your hair is still worth it. You just have to correct what is going on and with the right know-how and consistency you can definitely reach your hair goals. But first you must know what to do in order to help your hair from the breaking and the shedding. One of the best ways you can do that is to really zone in. Really gets nitty gritty to identify the root cause and it could be many different causes of course. But one of the common causes could be is a chemical related or mechanical related. Are you applying more frequency of heat? You must identify the cause. Then you can take further steps in order to help to stop and minimize the issue so you can have clarity and ease your mind [Listen to the Full Episode]

Do You Love Your Hair in The "Bad" Days?

Do You Love Your Hair in The "Bad" Days?

Hello and welcome back to Lumynex Essentials audiocast.

I am your host Kerone Maxineau.  I am in the business of inspiring and helping naturals with Afro -textured hair to feel empowered for her to succeed in having a healthy customized hair care regimen to best meet her hair care needs. So, welcome on to today and if you haven't done so head on over to Keeping it Natural Hair Group. I go live once a month face to face giving you further helpful strategies so that you can apply right now in your hair care journey. So welcome, on to again today.

I am going to talk about do you love your hair? I know I know we all have a love and hateful relationship with our hair some days. We have the quote-unquote have good hair days and the other days we have the bad hair day. Despite what your hair condition is do you still love it even when it may not work in your favor. Think about that I had to learn that I had to sit down and I had to do a self-evaluation about my hair. You know when you sit down and do a self-evaluation about yourself on how

you can improve on making this situation better. How can you help someone. How can you change your mind or your outlook or your perception on certain things or even listening to inspirational or motivational or even a spiritual messages that can give you

guidance in the best way that you should go. That is the same thing when it comes to your hair are you giving your hair the love that it needs because even if your hair does not work in your favor. You still have to give it the love that it needs when going back to natural or embracing your natural hair there are a couple things you must understand. First thing is that you must love who you are first, because if you love who you are first then you can love your hair. Yes! Because we're talking about hair but you can also learn to love other people even when they may not do things in a favor or should they fall short of expectations because we cannot do

everything to please everyone right?! So, in the same manner with our hair we can try to manipulate our hair to be a certain style but when you let them all down it's just going to fall the way it normally would.

When you look in the mirror you are going to see something that you probably never seen before or you may not seen since you were a child. Your hair ! Your natural root! Your curls! Your pattern! When you look at yourself you say to yourself. Is this who I am? When you take off the braids when you take off the wig, when you take off the weave. This is who you are. Naturally exposing every flaws that can be imagined. Exposing every imperfection. How it falls or how it layers down on every strand this is who you are. This is a very moment is where you begin to

embrace and you begin to start developing and challenging your confidence. It is a challenging because it's something that you may not be comfortable with you know I read scriptures and I believe in God. I believe God is the foundation for everything and how things are operated in our life but he also gives us free will. You see God, he created you in his image. He said that you are fearfully and you are wonderfully made [ Listen to the Full Espisode]

Do You Know Your Hair Type?

Do You Know Your Hair Type? Welcome back to Lumynex Essentials audiocast.

I am your host Kerone Maxineau your natural hair consultant, author, and your natural curl champion. Welcome back I'm in the business of inspiring and empowering woman with Afro-textured hair to feel confident and have the less worries of feeling insecure overwhelmed, to embrace and love her textured hair. In order to do that, I suggest that you succeed in having a customized hair care regimen that can erase or that can minimize those frustrations levels when it comes to taking care of your hair. So, welcome back on again I am so excited to be here presenting on and to form you guys on ways just to help in your hair care journey. Because that is my passion that is my mission that is my goal om how can I serve you guys so you can feel less  bothersome, have more confidence, and feel inspired to take care of your textured hair. So, do you know your hair texture your? Curl type  or your density? Do you know what the difference are? Iit may seem the same but there is a difference if you narrow it down to the tee. So, for those of you who are considering or have made the transition or the big chop you must know the challenges that come along with these decisions. This can sound very dramatic for some it is. Because if you look at it the internet and blogs are filled with naturalistas who took the time to learn all they can know about going on how they can care for their natural hair. So, if you care enough to do your research you too will find that the market is also saturated and it's appealing for those who seek to  make a profit when it comes to our natural hair. Many of them know that black woman will spend all they have on their hair there is nothing wrong with making money or spending money hey I like to go shop.  I like to look good too. What about you? Especially when it comes to taking care of my hair and giving me products that it needs, right?

But why spend the endless amount of money on products that are no good for your hair? Why?! That is where you become a product chunky stop it calm it down just because a product claims to be for a natural-kinky-curly or frizzy hair. It does not mean that it's particularly for your type of hair. As you go through the vast amount of information that's out there on natural hair care you may probably want to sit back and ask yourself a question about your hair texture or your curl pattern. Surprisingly if you do. I will tell you this you may discover that you have a mixed type of hair and you can have it from one side to the other side, to the back to the front, to the nape or even the middle from your head. So, if you look really closely you may definitely see that you may have some different type of mixture type of hair that is going on in your head as a black woman. Caucasian woman or Asian woman you know they can have a similar.[Listen to the Full Episode].

Overcoming Dry and Dull Hair

Overcoming Dry and Dull Hair

Welcome back again to Lumynex Essentials audiocast!

I am your host Kerone Maxineau. I am your natural hair consultant, author, and hair group creator. I'm in the business of helping naturals just like you to succeed who are having challenges and experiencing difficulty when it comes to managing their  textured hair. So, what I've come up with a healthy customized hair care regimen method and strategies so that you can create the success that you need in your hair care journey and if you haven't done so make sure your head on over to Keeping It Natural Hair Group. I come on live face to face in the group where i give you further life training where you can ask questions or any concern right then and there.

So, today audiocast is going to be on dryness and the appearance of dullness. We all know that when you have highly textured hair one of the battles that we face is having dry hair and there is no total escape from that. With dry hair you know it leads to other complications like breakage brittleness

and appears rough when you touch it sometimes. This goes back to what are you doing to your hair for it to continue to prolong its dryness. Now don't get me wrong hair is dry, but if the hair is dehydrated then you got a whole another issue up your hand. So,  having dry hair is not necessarily a bad

thing it's just letting you know that your hair needs to be rehydrated within its time that

it needs. So, it's giving you an indication like hey sister-girl you need to come take care of me right now as compared to when hair is totally dehydrated. Because your hair can be dry and it still is trying to hold on to the remaining moisture as much as possible now your hair will become dry or dehydrated when enough amount of moisture is lost from your hair and that is where you definitely see more of the struggle with what you will say dryness.

I often hear naturals complain about this you know about how dry and dull the hair is especially if you have 4C hair. Matter of fact, when you have a kinky-curly hair. For those with 4c hair it is tightly coiled and yes it is prone to dryness just like any curly to a kinky-coily or tightly coiled hair. You know you may be thinking if I am no longer relaxed then why does it feel drier than when I used to have chemicals so one thing you need to know about natural hair is that kinkier the hair is the tighter it is the more prone it is to dry as compared to those with a looser to straighter hair texture. Let's put it like that and the drier it is in most cases is going to give you more problems, like more tangles, and more single strand knots because you are losing moisture quickly which can lead to dehydration of the hair, if you do not address it as soon possible now when your hair has more kinks it can appear or look harder you know on the scalp and you all know. Remember that natural hair oil doesn't make it only down to the ends of the hair because of the natural bends and curls and twists of the hair strands as compared to someone who has a straighter hair {listen to the full episode}...

My Natural Hair Story

My Natural Hair Story

My Natural Hair Story

Welcome back to Lumynex Essentials audiocast!

I am your host Kerone Maxineau I am your natural hair consultant, author, and your hair group creator. I'm in the business of helping afro-texture woman to succeed in  having a healthy customized hair care regimen so that she can love and embrace her textured hair now if you haven't done so head on over to keeping it natural hair group there I go live once a month giving you live training so that you can carry over into your hair care journey.

I wanted to come on and discuss about my story. I want to share my story about what made me decide to go natural. I've been natural for about 10 years and trust me I had to cut my hair two times. The first time when I decided to go natural is that I no longer wanted to continue with the relaxer. I noticed that my hair is breaking and I was tired of the scalp burns. When I was transitioning to become a natural. I just stuck to braids the whole time. Until one day I decided to cut it off. When I cut it off I didn't know what to do with it. So, I went to a hairstylist and I guess back then a few years ago. I guess natural hair care wasn't the popularity as compared to relaxed hair. So, she just told me to texturizer it and little did I know that texturizer led me to do a second chop.

So, that was an experience that I didn't want to go through again so I really had to educated myself on how to care for my hair type and to understand what my hair type is for me.

I remember back in the day when I was growing up with chemically relaxed hair.

I had no idea on how to wear my hair any other way. You know what I mean. You get an relaxer every 6-8 weeks as soon as your hair roots grow out. For years I came to realize

that black women were influenced by having the hair straight it has to be silky pressed and I look at that was the go-to answer in order to have quote-unquote the ideal hair or in our black community as women the natural hair being relaxed. As I grew older I realized the increased effort it took to maintain my hair straighten meaning that I would have to constantly flat iron it and it was integrated with curling my hair or straightening my hair, you know, through flat ironing. Eventually I realized this was not the natural mean. I questioned my identity and my individuality. I questioned myself on what my hair said about me. Who am I? Your hair journey reveals your own story that's a person experience.... [Listen to the full episode]

5 Top Components to Building a Natural Hair Care Regimen

5 Top Components to Building a Natural Hair Care Regimen

5 Top Components to Building a Natural Hair Care Regimen

Hello and welcome back to Lumynex Esssentials audio cast.

I am your host Kerone Maxineau your natural hair consultant author and hair group creator.

I'm in the business of helping afro textured hair woman to succeed in having a healthy customized hair care regimen so that she can love and embrace her textured hair. So, before we get into our continuation of  building a hair care regimen why don't you first head on over to Keeping it Natural Hair Group. There I come on life once a month face to face giving you further helpful training so that you can apply in your hair journey.

So, let's continue on from the last episode.  I introduced on how to go about starting to build a hair care regimen and the benefits of doing that meaning that you must maintain a routine of that because if you don't your hair will suffer the consequences. Also, I introduce the five components that that involved building a hair care regimen and how you use those are very strategic but they're very basic.

Number one being pre-poo which is optional shampooing basically cleansing your hair deep conditioning or using a regular rinse conditioner a protein treatment if it's necessary or a styling product to give you that curl in definition.

So, I wanted to continue from that from the last episode so I can give you key ideas and keep again simple to the point on why those are very important.

Pre-pooing is very optional and is it a must no but it can help again depending on what you hear me pre-pooing your hair prior to cleansing it is very helpful especially when you use penetrating oils such as coconut oil if you don't have an adverse reaction because I know there are some naturals that say that coconut oil do not work for them but you pick what works for you another penetrating oil.

Penetrating oils are high in saturated fat or mono saturated fat meaning that they will actually help to penetrate your hair so if you're using any oil and you don't or you're not even sure about if it's penetrating your hair or just sitting on top of your hair you need to do further research because there are different oils that are specific based on what there are composed to do what they're formulated to do they make of the compositions what they need to do to help you out within your hair care journey.......[listen to the full podcast].

How to Build a Natural Hair Care Regimen to have Healthy Growing Hair

How to Build a Natural Hair Care Regimen to have Healthy Growing Hair

How to Build a Natural Hair Care Regimen to have Healthy Growing Hair

Hi welcome to Lumynex Essentials audio cast.  I'm your host Kerone Maxineau.

I am your natural hair consultant, author, and hair group creator. I'm in the business of helping woman with afro textured hair to succeed in having a customized hair care regimen so that she can love and embrace her textured hair with this audio cast.

I come on every week presenting on short simple strategies that you can apply in your natural hair care journey now if you haven't done so join Keeping it Natural Hair Group, where I come monthly live face to face giving you further training that you can also apply within your hair care journey. So, let's begin building a hair care regimen. Building a hair care regimen doesn't need to be complicated or expensive having the basic steps to a healthy hair care regimen is important for you to flourish.

If you do not have a basic plan for your hair this puts the hair at risk overall. How you maintain your hair has a direct impact on its growth contrary to many urban legends. Afro-textured hair can grow and guess what it does grow despite what anyone says our hair grows! Breakage is the main reason why many people are unable to retain length as it grows careful handling is important to avoid this most people think that breakage is caused by dryness though I will say moisture is most important. Its deficiency doesn't necessarily cause follicles to break things such as rough handling and over styling may be the reason why you are not seeing the growth as you should and you are not realizing it until it's possibly too late!

Afro-textured hair needs some pampering and it needs some maintenance of it really does because it's fragile, especially when it becomes wet and especially when it's when it's dry take time to maintain a regular regimen for your hair. Though you may have a busy lifestyle or you may feel like you can't get to it you still need to make time to maintain your hair it is a must you must consider the benefits of having a routine maintenance.

Having a secure routine hair maintenance is very imperative. You can do this by yourself or maybe you can go to a hair salon who is specialized or who is very familiar with natural hair care.

You need to take the advantage of caring for your hair whether you go to a salon or whether you do it yourself taking care of it and having a considerations is again is very important for the best care that you need for your hair. I'm going to give you some simple steps and I hope you will take these simple steps that you can help to apply in your hair care journey follow the steps that I give you can help to build a natural healthy hair care regimen. There are five components when it comes to following and being consistent with a hair care regimen I'm just going to give you five things and then with those five things. I'm just going to give you a little glimpse on each of those five components.

Number one you can pre-poo that is optional. Shampoo, condition or even a deep condition, protein treatment if it's necessary or styling products. So, those are some components that are on the top when it comes to caring for your hair care regimen. Now if you stay with me I will come back next week to really elaborate on those components that I just mentioned here.
