Episode 221: Coach Dan Young (Executive Director Basketball Coaches Association Michigan) Plymouth, MI ("5 Life Lessons in Playing Basketball")
Dan Young is currently the Executive Director of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM). Dan began his coaching career as a student-manager at Central Michigan University in 1987. After graduation from CMU he garnered the Assistant Basketball position at Western Michigan University, before moving on to a similar slot at Detroit Catholic Central High School. Dan then served as Head Basketball Coach at Brighton, Plymouth Canton and John Glenn High Schools. He has also been the Head Golf Coach at Plymouth High School, since 2012, that has won 2 State Championships. Dan has been named COY from the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Ann Arbor News, Associated Press, Michigan Golf Coaches Association and BCAM. From 2000-present, Dan has been a member of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Board of Directors / he served as Assistant Director of BCAM 2005-2018 / named Executive Director of BCAM in January 2019. Dan has had an integral responsibility as a committee member with the BCAM/MHSAA collaboration (“Reaching Higher Top Michigan Basketball Showcase”) since its inception. He also served as Director and coordinator of all basketball related functions with the Michigan Elite 25 Camp, which was directed by Tim McCormick, former University of Michigan and NBA player. Dan received the Thomas Hursey Distinguished Service Award from BCAM in 2017. Dan is married (Jacqueline) and has 2 son’s (Derek 24, Ryan 21) and resides in Plymouth Michigan. danyoung@bcam.org

Episode 220: Coach Ray Lokar (Director of Coaching Gold Standard Coaching Academy) "Creating Confident and Coachable Players"
Ray Lokar has taught, been an Athletic Director, a High School Administrator, a YSO Board Member and President, and coached a variety of sports for over 35 years at the youth, high school, and college levels in Southern California. He has a son and two daughters who have gone on to play college athletics, as well as a young son currently playing youth sports. Ray was the Head Basketball Coach of the 2002 California Interscholastic Federation Champions while at Bishop Amat High School and is a Past-President of the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association. Coach Ray Lokar is the Basketball Coaching Education Coordinator for the Amateur Athletic Foundation and the editor of  Basketball.Lifetips.com . He was the Head Basketball Coach of  the 2002 California Interscholastic Federation Champions while at Bishop Amat High School .  Ray is also a Trainer and Mentor Coach with the Positive Coaching Alliance and coordinates their Partner Development efforts in Southern California, concentrating on grants to underserved organizations. He has coached in the San Gabriel Valley, just east of Los Angeles, Ca for over 25 years at the youth, high school, and college levels. Coach "LOK" has worked countless camps and clinics during that time for ages 8-18 and is the presently Executive Director of The Basketball4all Foundation.  Lokar also is actively involved with Applied Cognitive Engineering in the business development and marketing of the ACE IntelliGym(tm) . The IntelliGym(tm) is a revolutionary training tool that enables basketball players to dramatically improve their game-intelligence skills. Owning Sports'n'Stuff,  provides a home base for all of his business activities. He has published a series of basketball booklets and has access to the latest in training equipment, uniforms and imprinted sportswear, with in-house customization. As a  member of the Executive Board of the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (SCIBCA) starting in 1991, he began his term as President of the Association in 2000. Coach Tommy Brown has 19 years of head collegiate coaching expereince. He had 13 straight 20 win seasons and was an assistant at The University of Illinois. Coach Brown is a former director with PGC and has performed clinics all over the country. 18 years Head Collegiate Coaching Experience 389 wins at age 46 13 straight 20 win seasons 6 time Conference Coach of the Year 2007-08 NAIA National Coach of the Year Participated in 11 NAIA National Tournaments in 14 years 96-21 Record as High School Coach He was playing basketball in his younger years and being a high school basketball coach, Brown embrace his coaching spirit and use it to mentor, coach and teach young people from 1994-1998 in Orangewood Christian School  that anything is possible with hard work and discipline.  Brown shared his inspirational testimony with the Bluefield Collage from 1998-2005 As Head Men’s Coach and Director of Athletics where he coordinating all aspects of program, requiting, budgeting, scheduling, managing team travel and inter-collegiate athletics program.  He also provided a different perspective on Coaching and Athletics Responsibilities for 11 years from 2005 – 2016 with Lee University of scheduling athletic contests and allocate scholarships and configure operating budget.
