Should teens cut back on screen time By: Kevin Cojocari

Hello i'm Kevin and a few days ago I’d just play on my console so much that my eye started to hurt and I wondered why and the more I’d look at my monitor the more it hurted. So I’d laid down and then covered my eye and it stopped when I put pressure down and I tried to go to sleep but it hurted so bad that I couldn’t go to sleep and all because of that I had to skip homework and could take my hand off because it would hurt more and this all happened when I look at the screen for a long time. This is one of the reasons I believe teens should cut back on screen time and if they don't then they could risk losing time to do homework and risk their health by looking at the screen for a long time. So I believe that teens should cut back on screen time so that they don't have to go through this.

Not cutting back on screen time can be lonely but the people who don’t usually counter this by being with online friends and from abroad and they can play with them on pc’s but the thing is if there done playing online then they usually get pretty lonely and would you rather spend time with them online and face the consequences or maybe meet them somewhere where you can have a lot of fun. The thing is people can get anxiety and depression mainly due to the fact that they could get left out of there group of friends or they might not even have any friends to play with and would you rather get left out of your friends group or maybe cut back on it and play with your friends and have an enjoyable time.

Cutting back on screen time can help with your health as if you didn’t cut back on screen then you could possibly get headaches, damage to the eyes and some bad sleep. People can counter this by getting some stuff to help them like glasses to protect their eyes and maybe some medicine to help with the headaches but the thing with cutting back on screen time is that you don't need those unless you really need them. Another reason it's bad for your health is that you could get back problems from sitting on the chair for too long and you can also get bad posture that's also from sitting on the chair for too long and you can also get problems with your weight where you could get big just by sitting on your screen for a long time and would you rather not cut back on it and get a bunch of health problems or cut back on it and be healthy and be happy I will not force you but the answers obvious.

Time is of the essence and if you waste that time then you could not get anything done if you don't cut back on screen time then you could risk losing precious time on some useless thing unless its online homework then you wouldn’t waste any time but you could waste time on other stuff like chores or perhaps practices like football, basketball and soccer anything that is due is something you shouldn’t waste time on the internet for. Another reason is that if you waste time then you may miss events like the new years, christmas, november, easter etc.

Come on now , can’t we agree? Why use the phone for another hour or two and risk health problems when you can go outside and play with your friends and family and even more it can be healthy for you to go outside to see the sun and maybe even take a few jogs. So stop looking at that screen and go outside for some fun!
