#195: Jesus Feeds 5,000
Matthew 14:13-21 & John 6:1-15 Today we hear the miracle of Jesus feeding over 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. The application section connects the dots that when Jesus wants us to do something, He’s already given us ALLL that we need to do it. The disciples were told to look at what they did have and use that! What didn’t make sense to them, made sense with God. What didn’t seem like enough, God could make it enough. #194: Part 2 of THE CROSS: Why did Jesus Die?
COLOSSIANS 2:13-15 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had; many of them related to Easter. I am going to do my best to answer PART 2 of the more complex questions :Why Did Jesus Die?  We use a story about two children who disobey the rules and play ball in the house. This ends with a window being broken and the understanding that someone must cover the cost of this mistake. The children realize they can not fix such an expensive mistake and must be forgiven and helped by their parents. Though the parents were not the ones that broke the window,  out of love and their ability to have money, they are able to cover this cost.   We use this example and connect the dots to the Bible that: 1. Our sin is very serious. 2. No human & no amount of money can fix our sins. Jesus is the only one who can save us. He never sinned. 3. Jesus cleaned up the mess we made and absorbed the cost himself when he died on the cross. 4. We all sin and can ask Jesus to forgive us.  Resources for parents:  The Reason for God by Tim Keller. This is an adult book and covers many difficult questions which you can study and then teach your child on their level.   5 Truths About the Death of Jesus  This is an adult article from the Desiring God website. You will need to bring this down to a child's level but it is a good guide of what to begin covering with them.  The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross Kids book that addresses sin and the cross.  To connect with me, simply to go kbspodcast.com

# 193: Part 1 THE CROSS: What did Jesus save us from?
Romans 3:23 -24 & John 3:16 Recently, we celebrated Easter and since that time, Parents have been sending in fantastic questions kids have had, many of them related to Easter. Today, we are dong a special episode as I do my best to answer one of the more complex questions : What did Jesus Save us from. I understand there are a variety of ages and backgrounds who are listening so I have tried to keep it age appropriate for most families.   We learn about: 1. Adam & Eve sinning & how that affects us.  2. We all need Jesus and His grace. Grace is a gift, not earned. 3. Sin separates us from God. We are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. ***** We will not discuss Hell in this episode. Hell is biblical and should be discussed in your family when it's appropriate. I did not address this here as I want to respect families and the personal discussions that need to occur in the home for this. ****** I am including the link Desiring God here as a resource on how to discuss hell with your children.

Matthew 13: 1-3, 36, 44 Today we get to hear the parable of the man who finds treasure in the field. In his JOY he goes and sells all he has to buy that field.  Our apply section will connect the dots that Jesus is saying : when we see that being w/ him is like finding treasure hidden in a field, we rightly see that no toy or superhero compares to our savior Jesus. #190: Don't Believe Everything you Feel
Philippians 4:4-8 In today's story, we hear a letter from our friend Paul. He reminds us that when we feel nervous or anxious,  we should notice what we are thinking about. Sometimes our minds can run wild with crazy thoughts that just aren't true or good. Our feelings can lead us astray at times. We will do something special today, and hear a short story about a girl named Kayleigh. Kayleigh is nervous about having to speak in front of her class BUT she remembers the Bible story her mom just read from Paul. Tune in to hear the story in action. Thanks for listening! #187: The Cross is not the End of the Story (Easter #2)
John 18, John 19 ,Luke 23, & Matthew 27  (EASTER PART 2) Parents, today we are going to be talking about the cross. I respect each families ages/ stages life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures listed including what is appropriate for your family.  I will be talking about topics which you may not wish to discuss yet so please listen to this beforehand. We have done a younger version of this story which can be found on episode #96 called “he is Risen.” If you feel that is a better fit, please go listen to # 96 and save this one for when the time is right.  In today's story, we hear Jesus speaking with Pilate.  Pilate thought he was in control but Jesus reminds him of the truth. We are comforted remembering Jesus is always in control even when things can seem scary or confusing. We end w/ Jesus' death on the cross. The story connects the dots that Jesus' love doesn’t change or depend on what you do. If you ever wonder if He loves you, you can simply remember what happened on the cross.  We will pick up the rest of the story next week!

#186: Jesus Chose to for YOU (Easter #1)
Matthew 26 :36-56  Today begins our Easter series! I want to respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of these for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.  I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves. This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why? Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much! The children will be reminded that Jesus is always in control and that He loves them very much!

#185 A Father's Love
Mark 5:35-43 This is part 2 in our short series. If you missed #184, please go back and listen so you understand the context better. Today, we hear Jesus going to the home of Jairus to heal his very sick girl. It seems like Jesus is too late but his timing is perfect even if it doesn't make sense to us.  We are reminded that Jesus sees all and knows all. Jesus does heal the child and lovingly calls her "little girl." We are reminded that we have a loving, protective, and kind Father in Jesus. We too are his little children.   Thanks for listening! #184 Bumping into Jesus OR Reaching out to Him
Mark 5:21-34 In our story, Jesus asks who touched me. This seems like a silly question b/c Jesus knows everything. He has numbered the hairs on our head, He knows what you had for breakfast, and He knows what you are going to do tomorrow. He knows everything about everyone! So then, if He knows who touched him, why would He ask? Tune in to hear what the Bible says about this as Jesus performs another miracle healing a sick woman.  Thanks for listening! #183: Jesus Loves me this I Know for the Bible Tells Me So
John 3:2, 16-19, 1John 3:1, & 1John 4:19 All of our readings have something in common....they speak of God's love for us. We are reminded of God's promises that hold true even when we do not feel it. The kids think about what having a bad day feels like and we discuss how feelings are important but sometimes, they can trick us to forget the truth. This is where we turn to our Bibles and remind ourselves the truth of just how much God loves us regardless of if the day we are having feels like a good one or a bad one.  Thanks for listening! I hope this helps facilitate good conversations between you and your children.  To contact me go to https://www.kbspodcast.com/

#182: All of This Could be yours IFFFFFFF
Luke 4:1-13  This week we will learn a different lesson from Jesus being tempted in the desert. This is part 2. We hear the crafty devil tempting Jesus with power & fame. Jesus doesn’t fall for the lie. He knows true joy and happiness comes through God not things or status. He knows serving God is more important than power and fame. The kids will be reminded that God made all kinds of good things we get to enjoy, but the problem comes when we want to have that thing way more than we want to love and worship God. Jesus is our example of how to handle these temptations.  To contact me, simply go to kbspodcast.com

#181: You Have Nothing to Prove
Luke 4:1-13 This is part 1 in our short series where we find Jesus being tempted in the desert by the devil. We will learn that  the devil is always a slick and slimy one trying to twist God's words. The devil tries to tempt Jesus into proving that He really is God's son. Of course Jesus is God's son! Jesus knows this truth and does not need to prove anything to the devil so He does not fall for it. We learn that we too can remember the truth of whose we are: we are loved children of God. We apply this truth to help us w/ pride or the feeling to prove ourselves.  Enjoy and tune in for part 2 next week. #150: Obeying isn't Always Easy
Joshua 6:1-21 We hear God telling Joshua to knock down the strong wall of Jericho using......the sound of trumpets?! HUH? I wonder if Joshua thought this request a little odd. God asked Joshua to do something ..that may have seemed almost impossible. Maybe it wasn’t easy for him to obey b/c of this. We will hear if Joshua ends up trusting God and obeying even when it doesn’t make sense. We will apply this to how we should obey God and identify it there are others God has put in charge of us; people like mom, step-dad, or grandma who love us very much and protect us, who we should obey as well.

Exodus 2:11-25  I respect each family's ages/stages of life so I have adapted some of this. Moses ends up taking matters into his own hands and ends up fleeing from his home.  Our story will teach us some more about Moses but our big take away will be that God heard the Israelites cries. #137: Heaven
Heaven...what will it be like? No one knows all of the answers to this but we will use what the Bible tells us about it through John's experience. Today's story will cover these parts of heaven: 1. God will be with us 2. Everyone and everything will live in perfect peace 3.There will be no sickness or hurting 4. There will be no more pain; all the pain/sadness we've felt on Earth will be undone and repaired. I respect each families ages and stages of life so, I have chosen specific scriptures for this. Please go back and read them for yourself, including anything you feel is appropriate for your family.  To connect with me or send your child's picture of heaven to me go to kbspodcast.com  I look forward to seeing their wonderful imaginations in their drawings about heaven and will be posting them on my IG and FB pages to share w/ the community.

#136: The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:25-37 A man asks Jesus to explain who his neighbor is. Jesus then tells the story of 3 men who passed by a hurt man but only 1 of them helped him. Only 1 of them treated the hurt man as his neighbor. We learn what the Bible means when it says you must love your neighbor as you love yourself. Our story shows us it matters WHO we are. Are we people who will help others and obey Jesus or will we only do so if it's the right person, place and time to do so.   The apply section will help the children connect the dots and apply this in their own lives. This is part 1 in our short series, Saved by Grace. The kids learn the definition of grace and are presented with the truth that  NONE of us earn God's love or forgiveness; rather it is a gift. We apply this to their own lives using the analogy of getting a gift.  I hope this resource is helpful for your family! To connect with me, simply click : kbspodcast.com

#133: I'm with You Always
Matthew 28 HAPPY EASTER! Today we will pick up our story after Jesus was placed in the tomb. The story reminds us of the HOPE & TRUTH  we have: 1. That all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. 2. He is with us not sometimes, not when we are in a specific building or situation, BUT that HE is with us ALWAYS!   The apply section at the end helps to connect these dots for the kids in a very practical way for them especially with what is currently happening with COVID. I hope this facilitates good conversations with you and your children! Happy Easter! To connect with me click kbspodcast.com

#132: Man in the Mirror
James 1:19-25 Today's story reminds us that if we hear God's word but don't actually obey, then we are like a man who looks in the mirror, walks away, and forgets what he looks like.  I try to connect the dots for the kids in a way they will understand and be able to apply this story to their own lives.  I hope you all enjoy! #131 Favoritism
James 2:1-8 James teaches us not to judge others simply by their outward appearance. He reminds us of why this is important and connects us back to the Golden rule : "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." The kids will hear how this story applies to their own lives; whether it's at school or basketball practice. They will hear why we shouldn't judge others on outward appearances. They will also think about the flip side to this... what they can do when someone does this to them.   Thanks for listening! #130: Marvel
Psalm 19:1-6 & Isaiah 40: 25-29 Today's story reminds us why it's important to stop and take in the wonders God has created around us. They are true miracles that can point us back to Him, the Creator. You children are usually very good at this. You  enjoy asking, "but why? Why do the leaves change color, why is the sky blue?" Even when we answer your questions with scientific words and terms we've made to describe what happens in nature, it does not take away the miracle behind how nature works. So kids, be curious; enjoy stopping and staring, and let what you learn make you marvel at how incredible our Creator is.

In today's story, we will hear how Esther has to make a serious decision; will she do what is right or that which she knows is wrong. Our story reminds us that perhaps God made her Queen at just the right time, in the right place, for this exact reason. We connect these dots to Kid's every day lives. #117: Samson
This episode was a special request from some of our listeners. This will also be longer than our typical episode to fit in the context of the story. Today, we get to hear the classic story of strong Samson. What will Samson do when he loses his strength  because of his hair cut?!?!? We will hear how mighty Samson was faithful & cried out to God for help!  Even though Samson sinned, God still used him and forgave him. ***NOTE TO PARENTS: I want to respect what you feel is appropriate for your children at their individual stage and age of life. In today's story, we hear a letter from our friend Paul. He reminds us that when we feel nervous or anxious,  we should notice what we are thinking about. Sometimes our minds can run wild with crazy thoughts that just aren't true or good. Our feelings can lead us astray at times. Exodus 19:16-20 & 20:1-17 Today we get to learn about the 10 commandments. Did you know that commandments are like rules? I'm sure you even have rules in your very own home.  In today's story, we will hear how God made rules because he loves us. Sometimes, we can hear rules and be frustrated because we think they aren't letting us have any fun. But with God's rules, that's just not true. These rules help keep us safe, close to Him, and live a joyful life. #114: Just Because Things are Hard Does NOT Mean Jesus is Not There
Mark 4:35- 41 & John 16:33 Today we hear how Jesus' friends were scared during the storm. With the wind and waves tossing them about, their boat could sink! They were terrified. Even during this scary circumstance, Jesus was there. He had not left them. Sometimes we get it confused and think Jesus is only around when we are winning all of our sports games and eating cupcakes all day. That's just not true. Jesus tells us that we will have troubles but to take heart, b/c He has overcome the World. John 16:33 Tune in to hear how God is with you each and every day NOT just on the good days.    Episode #4 "Jesus Calms the Storm" is the same story but with different application questions. #112: What if David Had a Bad Attitude?
Today we get to play "what if" with David. David had already been anointed to be the next King yet he was still cheerful in obeying the every day, ordinary tasks. Tasks that would have seemed to be far beneath a king. When David woke up that morning, he didn't know he was going to be battling Goliath! There was opportunity for him in the ordinary. IF David had done just a few things differently, he may not have ended up fighting Goliath, saving his people, and glorifying God. David's attitude towards the ordinary helped him be ready for the opportunity to beat Goliath.  To hear the entire David and Goliath story, please listen first to episode # 112A. #38: Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego
This weeks story is anything but boring. Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego refuse to worship the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar is so proud of. They will only serve their 1 True God even when the King explains the punishment for this is the fiery furnace. Their faith remains strong and EVERYONE watching that day learns about God, as they witness with their own eyes, the Mighty God that saves. God used their story and He can use our stories and examples to teach others about Him. Join us as we learn and apply this today.     For any questions for or comments, please contact me @: biblestoriespodcast@gmail.com OR https://www.facebook.com/kidsbibleStoriesPodcast/
