We looked at Acts 27:39-44. Before that we had a reflection for the Lord"s Supper. Read below to help give breath to the sermon.

Isaiah 32:2

“Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary place”

Song of Solomon 2:3

“As an apple tree among the trees of the forest so is my beloved among the young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.”

Psalm 63:7

“Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice.”

The Lord is always covering us with his shadow. His blood has paid the price so that he would be most favoured among men. As in He was perfect in every way and was without sin. He lived and died so that you and I would live and if we place our faith in Him, we shall never die. But while we are here on this earth, He is that shadow that helps us in many a glorious way. He is like the rock that cast a shadow. Nothing pierces through the rock. The rock is solid and no light from a bright sun will burn the flesh of men. The wind does not break through the rock and the rain of the storm is pushed away. The Lord shadow of the Lord is greater than the rock. Perfect never failing without blemish and his shadow never leaves you though you move from place to place. The Lord is like the protects and gives sweet fruit to those who rest under Him. He protects from the harsh sun and gives life by the refreshing fruit. He gives a since of rest to those who come and sit under Him. He is like no other tree in and among the other trees of the forest. He is the tree of life, life that is ever lasting. Our Lord is like the shadow of the bird’s wing. We should rejoice in the comfort that it brings. The wing of the mother bird brings joy to its little ones for they know that they will be fed. It brings protection and warmth in times of cold rain and storms. She calms them with the touch of her wings. Our souls should be calmed by the touch of our Saviour. In Him we should rejoice for he has paid our debt. He has brought us peace between our heavenly Father. We should find our joy in Him for life is full and of abundance in His wings. We are protected by the shadow of His wings the one who died to protect us from the wrath of God, the storm of fire that I was due. His shadow brings us warmth in the cold rains and storms of life. May we rest in that shadow now as we remember what he has done for us. May we know His shadow covers us no matter our failings or our sins. For if we repent and turn to Him, seek His forgiveness then in his shadow we shall know His mercy, His compassion, and the never-ending love He gives.
