KGS228 | How Leaders Can Reclaim Their Zone of Genius And Become A More Effective Leader with Ana Liebel And Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S IN THE GENIUS +++

You may have heard the phrase, "It's in the genes!" Right?

Normally when the phrase is used as a way of highlighting skills, it is generally used in a celebratory way to make sure you know this is something that cannot be duplicated because it is in the genes.

I tend to see this a lot in the sports industry as players celebrate their skills and pridefully proclaim where those kinds of skills originate.

But when last have you heard someone say, "It's in the genius?"

I would dare say, very little or never.

Well, this episode, even though it doesn't use the "it's in the genius" phrase, implies that leaders who tap into their zone of genius and find their true self are almost unstoppable. Take a listen as our guest - Ana Liebel - explains.

++++++++++

Who is ANA LIEBEL?

Anna is a leadership and team development consultant, a global citizen with a Ukrainian heart, and a tech project manager dedicated to people growth.

With an education from three European countries, 6+ years of project management experience within various industries, and leading cross-functional and international teams, Anna is well-equipped to bring a new perspective to the challenges that modern leaders are occupied with.

Anna helps leaders reclaim their genius zone by eliminating reactivity, transforming their leadership, and becoming catalysts of a thriving company culture.

KGS225 | Why Leaders Who Tell Vulnerable Stories Like This One Will Quickly Gain The Loyalty Of Their People With Jared Buckley And Kingsley Grant

KGS225 | Why Leaders Who Tell Vulnerable Stories Like This One Will Quickly Gain The Loyalty Of Their People With Jared Buckley And Kingsley Grant

+++ STORIES SELL +++

It's amazing how we are more apt to remember stories than we do facts.

I'm able to remember a place, person, or event more if I have an associated story attached.

However, if you were to tell me facts and expect me to remember as I do stories, forget it. It ain't happening.

This is why someone coined this phrase: Facts tell. Stories sell. Oh, how true this is.

Why is it then that leaders don't use more stories in communicating with their people?

I believe one of the reasons is vulnerability. It does take some vulnerability to tell stories especially those that are more personal in nature.

In today's episode of The Kingsley Grant Show, you'll hear our guest - Jared Buckley - tell a very moving story of his daughter and how it shifted his leadership mindset. He also helps us understand how to be more vulnerable and how to do so even under stress. Take a listen.

+++++++++++++

Who is JARED BUCKLEY?

Jared Buckley is a dynamic coach/consultant and a leading expert on developing the next generation of leaders within the workforce.

His work entails coaching leaders and executives for high-performance behaviors, training for team performance, and keynoting on topics such as emotional intelligence, performance, and stress.

Jared has written about millennials, emotional intelligence, and future leadership for such publications as Huffington Post, Lifehack, Addicted2Success.

And as a consultant and coach, Jared has worked with such organizations as the Fiesta Bowl, Stantec, Marriott, Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, University of Phoenix Stadium, Pathways, and more.

KGS223 | The 5 Secrets Of A Great Mentor That Every Leader Who Aspires For Success Ought To Learn with Kevin Harris and Kingsley Grant

+++ PASSING IT ON +++

There are many things in life worth passing on to those who are behind us. We have a responsibility as leaders in whatever form that takes, to make sure those we are leading are better equipped for the life ahead of them.

But the catch is this: not everyone who is in leadership or has that title is skilled to pass on what is necessary for those following.

The good news is that we all can learn how to do a better job IF we are open to learning what it really takes.

This is what great leaders know, but you can too.

In this episode, our guest - Kevin Harris - helps us understand 5 secrets that a great mentor knows that will help leaders become better positioned to pass on the necessary skills, wisdom, and knowledge to those they lead.

+++ YOUR BLINDSPOTS +++

Oh goody ... blindspots.

What are they? Where do I look for them? Does everyone have them?

Blindspots used in the context of people relationship has to do with the inability to see what others see. That is the simplest way that I can put it.

The problem is that some people are not open to receiving feedback that calls attention to their blindspot(s). They will simply deny or ignore it.

Make sure you are not one of those who do. Your future success is at stake.

To better understand why this is so, our guest - Jeff Nischwitz - takes us on a journey in this episode of The Kingsley Grant Show and helps us better understand what is at stake.

In this episode, you will discover why understanding the link between leadership impact and blindspots is so important to your future success.

KGS221 | Why Reputation Management Could Be The Most Important Skill For Leaders In 2021 And Beyond with Bill Coletti and Kingsley Grant

KGS221 | Why Reputation Management Could Be The Most Important Skill For Leaders In 2021 And Beyond with Bill Coletti and Kingsley Grant

+++ YOUR REPUTATION +++

I grew up learning the importance of having a good reputation.

It was drilled into me that my reputation was one of the most valuable things to protect with everything in me.

This idea came from the Proverbs where Solomon made this statement: "A good reputation is more desirable than great wealth ..."

As important as great wealth is, reputation beats that hands down.

Having a good reputation is also a must for leaders.

They need to realize that their reputation is what keeps them when their skills fail them.

At some point, we may have a situation where the only thing that will keep our people standing with us, is our reputation.

And that is what our guest - Bill Coletti - talks about in this episode. As you listen, you will hear how Bill explains what this looks like and how to go about creating this kind of reputation.

Here is a quote from this interview: Your company owns its brand, but the public owns your reputation.

KGS220 | Learn From This Leadership Mistake That Could Jeopardize That Which You Have Worked So Hard For with Kingsley Grant

+++ MISS TAKE +++

No, I didn't make a mistake in my spelling. It was intentional.

But that is not what mistakes are. They are not intentional. It is something that happens because you or I attempted something that didn't work out the way we thought.

That what a mistake is.

Some people are afraid of attempting new things because of the possibility of making a mistake.

They want to have such a "perfect" record that they don't attempt something new; take risks.

But that is not only how we make mistakes. We can make mistakes with what we didn't do.

Say what!

How can that be?

You'll discover how that works as you listen to this episode.

In this episode, I discussed how I made a mistake that could jeopardize that which I've worked so hard for and how you too might make a similar mistake, and how to avoid it.

KGS219 | Why Leaders Who Practice Kindness Make The Best Kind Of Leaders Especially During Times Of Change with Cole Baker Bagwell and Kingsley Grant

+++ AH, KINDNESS +++

There are some words that are seemingly becoming extinct in the times we are living in. Kindness happens to be one of them.

It would seem that people, in general, forgot how to be kind, not to mention many of those that have been assigned the title of a leader.

Is it any wonder why a leader who practices kindness, tends to garnish the support of their people in ways that are hard to explain?

I've seen this many times over.

Unfortunately, the narrative that gets the most public playtime is of those who lead in an opposite manner.

And that is why today's episode of The Kingsley Grant Show is so vitally important.

In this episode, you'll hear our guest - Cole Baker Bagwell - break down for us the importance of leading with kindness. Take a listen.

KGS218 | Essential Skills Effective Leaders Use to Lead and Succeed in Todays Workplace by Brett Cooper and Evans Kerrigan with Kingsley Grant

+++ ALWAYS ESSENTIAL +++

How often have you heard the terms non-essential and essential as it relates to the pandemic and lock-downs? Have you, like me, ever wondered who determines something or someone as essential?

To classify something or someone as essential means everything or everyone else is non-essential. Is that what is being conveyed?

Here's what I know, the label of essential is determined by who is in need at the moment.

To the hungry, it's the one who provides food.

To the thirsty, it's the one who provides a drink.

To the homeless, it's the one who provides shelter.

Having said that, I believe the term essential can be used in the context of skills.

Every successful leader became successful because they mastered a few essential skills.

In this episode of The Kingsley Grant Show, our guests - Brett Cooper and Evans Kerrigan, will help us understand what leadership essential skills are needed to succeed in today's workplace.

KGS217 | Why Leaders Who Practice Self Management Make The Best Kind Of Leaders by Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S IN THE PRACTICE +++

Have you ever heard the phrase, "practice becomes perfect?"

What are your thoughts on that? Do you believe it is true?

I don't and here's why.

If it did, we would have a lot of perfect people in the world, by now. Wouldn't we?

So many have practiced so hard and yet come up short ... because it is impossible.

And when you've put in all the work and not get the perfection that was promised, you become frustrated. Am I right or am I right?

Here's what I believe: PRACTICE BECOMES PERMANENT!

One of the practices that are super important for you in your leadership capacity is self-control.

In this episode, you'll discover why practicing self-management or self-control is so vitally important to your leadership success and why it makes the best kind of leaders.

KGS216 | Why Emotional Self Awareness Is The Most Important Skill You Need To Succeed As A Leader by Kingsley Grant

KGS216 | Why Emotional Self Awareness Is The Most Important Skill You Need To Succeed As A Leader by Kingsley Grant

+++ YES, AND IN LIFE +++

Notice the word AND. It is a very useful word when you want to truly engage people in a conversation. It is the opposite of using the word BUT.

How many times have you been in conversation and someone says something and follows up immediately with the word BUT? When he or she did, what was your gut reaction?

If you are like me, your system went into alert and tensed up as you braced for what would come next. Isn't that so?

The word BUT tend to negate all that came prior to its insertion into the conversation.

However, if that person was able to skillfully use the word AND instead of BUT, the outcome would be a whole lot different. Wouldn't it?

In this episode of The Kingsley Grant Show, you'll discover why emotional self-awareness is the most important skill you need to get better results in your professional and personal relationships.

Do you feel at times that your "plate" is so full that if you added one more task to it, you would go insane?

I have been there.

And the crazy thing is that sometimes I find a way to add one more task to my plate. Isn't that crazy?

I'm sure I'm not the only one. You might have done the same thing as well.

The question is, why do we do that to ourselves? Let me make it more personal, why do I do that to myself? Do you have an answer?

I do know what you and I need. We need to create margins in our lives so that we can be more effective in what we do. Right?

KGS214 | Struggling With Porn But It Has No Effect On My Leadership Or Does It by Kingsley Grant

+++ SOMEONE SOMEWHERE +++

Every one of us struggles with one thing or another. There are some people who are not able to relate to your struggle. But if you look long and hard, you'll find someone who does.

None of us are exempt from struggles.

With that in mind, we can safely say, we are not the only one that has a certain struggle even though we may feel that way at times.

As a coach and licensed therapist, I get to hear people's struggles constantly.

One of the struggles that are presented mostly by men, even though some women struggle as well, is that of pornography.

Porn is a multi-billion dollar industry and there are multiple thousands of people, mainly men, who are addicted to it.

But what about a leader?

Does this addiction to pornography have any effect on how they lead others?

In this episode, you'll hear whether or not leaders who struggle with pornography are negatively affected in their work and if so, what to do about it.

KGS213 | How To Use Soft Skills To Build Your People To Be Tough As Steel with Dennis Doran and Kingsley Grant

+++ SOFT AS STEEL +++

I know this sounds like a contradiction. Right?

Soft and steel don't go together. Is this a mistake?

On the surface, it seems like these two words should not be used together because steel is always seen as something tough. As a matter of fact, those are the words that are used together: tough as steel.

However, there is a term which I'm sure you have heard, which is, soft skills. You've heard that, right?

Unfortunately, the way the phrase soft skills is normally used can be misleading.

What if I told you that soft skills are one of the hardest skills to learn in the context of relationships?

KGS212 | These 2 Guiding Principles Set Great Leaders Apart And You Can Easily Make Them Your Own with Tom Connally and Kingsley Grant

+++ ONLY 2 FOR NOW +++

You can find many lists on what makes a leader great and they are almost always different. You will find some overlap here and there but for the most part, you are going to decide which list is most accurate.

I must admit that they all will have something helpful for the reader. I have benefited from that myself.

But at the end of the day, I'm left to decide for myself because it's too much to sift through.

Has that been your experience?

What if this list could be shortened, like really shortened? Would you be more inclined to want to know what they are?

Glad you said yes because in this episode of The Kingsley Grant show, our guest - Tom Connally - shared with us 2 guiding principles that set great leaders apart and how you can easily make them your own. Take a listen for yourself.

KGS211 | Great Leaders Possess An Entrepreneurial Mindset And Are Known For These 5 Characteristics Which Ones Are You Missing by Kingsley Grant

+++ THE MINDSET +++

I came across this quote that I believe captures the kind of mindset needed to make a difference in our world. Here it is: “Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible.” – Claude T. Bissell

What do you think? Would you agree with my opening statement now that you've read the quote for yourself? Let me know your thoughts.

I believe our mindset has a lot to do with the success we experience in life.

It saddens me when I see and hear people finding all kinds of excuses why they can't do this and why they can't do that. They are stuck because they are unwilling to adopt a growth mindset. They would rather remain with their fixed mindset.

But if you are going to be a great leader, you must adopt a growth mindset aka an entrepreneurial mindset.

In this episode, you will discover the reasons having an entrepreneurial mindset is so important and the 5 characteristics you'll need to develop to become a great leader. Take a listen

One of the words that are often used when it comes to the Millennials, is passion.

This assignment can be justified when viewed from a broad perspective. They are certainly passionate about the issues they believe in and want to promote.

We see this in almost all segments of society, some of which are good and some, not so good.

Depending on who you talk with, you'll get varying perspectives on this generation - the Millennials.

But what should you believe?

Are there some misunderstandings surrounding the negative press especially within the work environment?

Our guest - Sahar Paz - believes there is and in this episode of The Kingsley Grant show, she breaks down how understanding the millennial mindset, makes a huge difference in engagement and retention of your best millennial personnel.

KGS209 | This One Tool Could Transform Your Leadership Like None Other Even During Times Of Massive Discomfort with Krister Ungerböck and Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S ALL ABOUT THE TOOL +++

Mark Twain quote, "To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

I use this quote quite often with some of my clients in helping them to add more tools to their "toolbox" so they can have more options available to them.

The more tools you have the better the chance of success.

One of the issues we face is deciding what our next tool should be. Sometimes we don't know what it should be especially when it is not something tangible.

For example, in the world of leadership: Do you know what tool you need or would need to be more successful?

That is what our guest - Krister Ungerböck - discusses in this episode of The Kingsley Grant Show. You will discover that the tool needed is one that you already have at your disposal. Krister will unpack what it is and how to use it. Take a listen.

Who is KRISTER UNGERBÖCK?

Krister is a leadership communication expert, keynote speaker, and former CEO of a global tech company.

His work has appeared in NPR, Forbes, Inc., HR.com, Chief Executive, Recruiter.com, and Entrepreneur.

Prior to exiting corporate life at age 42, Krister was CEO of one of the largest family-owned software companies in the world.

While leading the company to over 3,000% growth, his team won five consecutive Top Workplace Awards, achieved remarkable employee engagement levels of 99.3%, and became a dominant player in its market niche.

KGS208 | Learn To Be The Leader Who Speaks Last But Finish First In Almost All Areas Of Leadership with Todd Palmer and Kingsley Grant

+++ SPEAK LAST FINISH FIRST +++

Have you ever heard the expression, "Good guys finish last?" Do you truly believe that? I don't. I think whoever made up that expression, was a loser and want everyone to be a loser like he or she was.

Having said that, I do believe in "the last shall be first and the first shall be last" because of who said that ... Jesus.

That's for another day.

But for today, you need to know that there is a last/first dynamic that occurs when leaders are willing to go last as a leading style.

How does that happen?

I"m glad you ask because in this episode, our guest - Todd Palmer - breaks it down for us. He is going to share with us how a leader who chooses to speak last, finishes first in almost all areas of his or her leadership. Find out how.

KGS206 | Great Leaders Are Set Apart By This One Key Leadership Attitude Which You Can Easily Adopt with David Shar and Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S THE 'TUDE DUDE +++

Let me hastily decode this title for those who might still be trying to figure out what it says. 'TUDE is short for attitude.

I thought it had a nice ring to it which fits the flow of this show.

You've heard the quote: "Your attitude determines your altitude," right? And how often have you taken this to heart? I wish more people would take the time to adjust their attitudes especially in times of turmoil.

No greater skill is needed than attitude-adjustment-skill during times of crisis. Would you agree?

Unfortunately, many people are failing in this department. And it is especially true with leaders who do not possess a high degree of emotional intelligence with which to regulate their emotions.

In this episode of the Kingsley Grant Show, our guest - David Shar - takes us through his own journey on how he too had to make this adjustment to lead his people the way he did.

This is what set great leaders apart as you'll find out in this episode.

KGS205 | How To Use A Bike To Engage And Inspire Your Team To Give You Their Best Effort with Rich Allen and Kingsley Grant

+++ MORE THAN A RIDE +++

Can you remember what it was like the last time you rode a bike or should I ask, have you ever ridden a bike? [smile]

I'm going to assume that you have ridden a bike even though it might have been eons of years ago.

Whether you have or not, this you do know - a bike has at least two wheels. Right?

Ok. We're settled on that.

What if I told you that a bike can be more than what you ride? What if I told you that it could be a great visual for your success as a leader at work or at home? Would you believe me?

Ok. Whether you believe me is not that important. But I can assure you that this episode of the Kingsley Grant show with our guest - Rich Allen - will make you a believer.

In this episode, our guest Rich Allen discusses how using the metaphor of a bike, leaders can get their team to be more engaged, motivated, and willing to do their best work.

KGS204 | How Women In Leadership Can Stand Out And Succeed In A World of Male Dominated Leaders with Dr Martha Saunders and Kingsley Grant

+++ A WOMAN IN CHARGE +++

I've heard some people wonder out loud, what it would be like if women were in charge of higher institutions. Are you one of them?

I know what it is like to have a woman in charge of our family without "being in charge" ... my mom.

One thing I can say is that she stood out as a leader not only in our home but in our neighborhood. She succeeded in that role without wearing the mantle of "leader."

However, there is one woman who has stood out and succeeded like my mom, but with a position of leadership. Her name is Dr. Laura Saunders.

In this episode, you will hear how our guest - Dr. Laura Saunders - navigated the world of male-dominated leaders to become the first and only female president of a university in the State of Florida. She will share how other women can also standout and succeed.

++++++++++++++++

Who is Dr. Laura Saunders?

Dr. Martha Saunders has held leadership roles in higher education for nearly 35 years.

She was the first woman chancellor at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater and the first woman president at The University of Southern Mississippi.

She assumed the presidency of the University of West Florida in 2017.

Her contributions in the field of communication led to numerous publications on crisis communication and public relations, and two Silver Anvil awards, the Public Relations Society of America’s highest honor.

KGS203 | How Smart Leaders Successfully Lead Up and Lead Down In The Age Of Artificial Intelligence with United Nations AI Advisor Neil Sahota and Kingsley Grant

+++ IT HAS TO BE UP AND DOWN +++

Most times we use the phrase Up and Down to refer to life circumstances such as our health, work, relationship, and more.

There are some things I wish had a Down component but unfortunately, it doesn't and that is my age. Why couldn't there be a Down component to it? Wouldn't that be nice?

But it's a good thing, our attitude about it makes the difference. Well, enough on the age issue. This is not what this show is about.

In this episode, you will hear the United Nations Artificial Intelligence advisor - Neil Sahota - shares his insights on how leaders should lead both up and down. He believes as I do, that as a leader, it is imperative that you develop the skills to not just lead those below you, but those above you as well.

This notion is sometimes foreign to some people to even think they can and should do this. Well, this episode will help you if you happen to be one of those individuals. And if you were aware of this, you're going to truly appreciate this episode.

Who is  NEIL SAHOTA

Neil is an IBM Master Inventor, United Nations (UN) artificial intelligence (AI) Advisor, author of the book Own the A.I. Revolution., and Professor at UC Irvine.

He also helps organizations create the culture, community, and ecosystem needed to achieve success such as the U.N.’s AI for Good initiative.

KGS202 | Retain Your High Performance Employees By Viewing Leadership Development As An Investment and Not An Expense with Buddy Hobart and Kingsley Grant

+++ PUT YOUR MONEY HERE +++

How often do we spend money on things that are here today and gone tomorrow? Not that our purchases are not valid, but they do not bring a return on our investment.

But what have you thoughtfully and intentionally spent money on that you know would bring a return on your "spending" and do you categorize the spending as an investment or an expense?

This kind of "spending" becomes difficult to measure the return of the investment (ROI) when it is not something tangible. Right?

Take for instance personal and professional development. These are hard to measure. But should we not do them?

And is it true that it is hard to measure your ROI?

That's one of the discussions you will hear in today's episode. Our guest - Buddy Hobart - will explain to us how all this works and how investing in leadership development is truly one of the best investments an organization will make.

What would you label as world-class in your life? A romantic relationship? A friendship? Someone, you admire? A leader? A working environment?

Is "I wish" your response to this statement and is it met with a sigh or a rolling of the eyes?

KGS200 | Become A More Likable and Effective Leader With These 5 Leadership Lessons From My Podcast Journey by Kingsley Grant

+++ LESSONS FROM THE JOURNEY +++

Life is indeed a journey. Some people's journey seems smoother than others. But no two journeys are alike. Would you agree with that?

One of the journeys I have been on is in the world of podcasting. If you've never done a podcast, you will still be able to relate with these lessons that I've learned over doing years of podcasting.

However, this new shoe - The Kingsley Grant Show - is fairly new in that it was started in March 2019. To have done 200 episodes means is a significant achievement in the world of podcasting.

Normally, a podcast show, following the most-used industry-standard of once-per-week, would have just done a little over 100 episodes in 2 years. Here, I've doubled that in less than two years. To me, that's a heck of achievement with a number of lessons learned.

In this episode, you'll discover 5 Leadership Lessons That will make you a more likable and effective leader within the context you are leading.

KGS199 | Insights From Leadership Expert On How To Get More Done By Simply Doing What You Already Know with Laura Noel and Kingsley Grant

+++ DO WHAT YOU KNOW +++

How often have you felt like you need to know just a little more to accomplish a task or start something new?

There is that "something" in all of us that makes us feel like we don't know enough or simply are inadequate. Add to that the imposter syndrome that makes us worry that we will be found out for not being what we have "claimed" to be.

These feelings and thinking can truly mess with our confidence and negatively impact our job performance.

But we don't have to stay that way or be held hostage to these feelings.

In this episode, leadership expert Laura Noel shares with us how to do what we know by shifting our beliefs and creating a framework that helps us to confidently take a step towards effective leadership.

Who is Laura Noel?

LAURA NOEL is a Certified Proctor Gallagher Coach and a 27-year military leader who helps high-performers live empowered, fulfilling lives all while achieving their highest potential.

KGS198 | How Todays Greatest Leaders Use Brutal Honesty to Achieve Massive Success Even During Times of Upheaval by Peter Kozodoy and Kingsley Grant

+++ HONESTY: STILL THE BEST POLICY +++

One of the virtues of life that were drilled into me and my siblings while growing up is this maxim: Honesty is the best policy!

I must confess that I've not always lived up to this ideal. How about you?

We don't have to look very far to experience dishonesty around us. The media lies to us. Our national, state and local government leaders lie to us. Family members and friends lie to us. It's all around.

But what should we do about it? Should we do as the "Romans" do? How should we lead those we have the privilege of leading?

In this episode, our guest - Peter Kozodoy - will share with us how to use brutal honesty to achieve massive success and reap additional benefits.

KGS197 - The Most Important Leadership Skill For Today Summed Up In Two Words That You Wished You Had Learned But Now You Can by Kingsley Grant

+++ WISH NO MORE +++

Do you ever look back at a period of your life where you wished you knew what you know now or had learned then?

I know I have on several occasions. I realize that I had to let go of that wish-I-had-known-moment because if not, it could lead to feelings of depression.

This is sometimes true when you said or did something and then afterward wished you had not.

What if you knew a skill that could get you different results in almost any situation you find yourself where you have to make a decision?

In today's episode, you will discover a skill that is summed up in two words that will help you in decision making, relationship management, and work performance.

KGS196 | How To Successfully Navigate Black Lives Matter All Lives Matter and What Really Matters Within The Workplace by Kingsley Grant

KGS196 | How To Successfully Navigate Black Lives Matter All Lives Matter and What Really Matters Within The Workplace by Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S TRICKY +++

Have you ever tried to please everyone? How did that work out?

Here's a quote that I've kept close to me: you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Another quote that I really like is: "Some will, some won't, so what? Next!" Another ending that I've also seen and liked is, "... someone else is waiting."

Even though I've held these quotes close to me, it's not as easy, at least for me, to put them into action.

I used to want everyone to always like me but I've realized over time that it's an impossible feat. I've learned to be okay with it but it's not my default.

So, I did my best to avoid certain sticky topics or situations that might require me to confront or take decisive action that more than likely will offend or hurt someone.

You could say that's my conflict avoidance self acting out at that time. It's tricky. Right?

So what should you do as a leader when all around you there is a movement on the way under the umbrella of Black Lives Matter to get rid of racism? Add to that the tension between those who believe All Lives Matter and Black Lives Matter. What should you do?

In this episode, you'll hear a direct, bold, and uncompromising straight talk on the matter about what really matters.

KGS195 | How To Handle The Issue Of Racism Within Your Organization Without Joining The Cancel Culture Movement by Kingsley Grant

KGS195 | How To Handle The Issue Of Racism Within Your Organization Without Joining The Cancel Culture Movement by Kingsley Grant

+++ HOT TO HANDLE +++

There was a game I played a few times called Hot Potatoes. Have you ever played it?

It was mainly done in a circle.

Someone would have a ball and throw it to anyone in the circle but they must first call out the other person's name. It is a team-building activity.

The point is to handle the ball like a hot potato and try to get rid of it as quickly as you can. If the leader shouted out "hot potato," the person's hand that the ball was in last, is out of the game.

As time goes on, the circle shrinks until there are two people left.

They would go back and forth until the lone-survivor remains standing and obviously, declared the winner.

Even though the topic of today's episode isn't about a winner, the principle of how to handle a hot potato, is very relevant and you'll see why as you listen to this episode.

The topic of racism can be a hot topic that if not handled properly, can leave severe "burn" scars.

The question is, how do you handle it?

That's what you'll hear in today's episode. You'll discover a number of DOs and DON'Ts.

KGS191 | How To Lead Proactively During Times Of Racial Tension And Help Your People Safely Process Their Emotions by Kingsley Grant

+++ LEAD OR BE LED +++

When leaders put their heads in the sand and act as if "Rome isn't burning" around them, they fail to lead.

When leaders hope that "this" will just go away, they have another surprise coming.

When leaders fail to listen to the silence or the noise of their people, they set themselves up for a long hot "summer."

These actions of leadership are not strategies.

So, what should leaders do instead?

In this episode, you will discover 3 Do's and 2 Don'ts of leadership during times of racial tension or any other tension for that matter. These Do's and Don'ts will help your people safely process their emotions and you as a leader, will be better for it. Everyone will be better for it!

KGS190 | Which Of These 5 Benefits Of Effective Communication Does Your Team Need Right Now by Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S MORE THAN HOW +++

Have you ever heard someone say, "it's not what you say, but how you say it?"

What were your thoughts on that? Do you agree?

If you agree, you're partially right.

Because it is not just how you say it, but when, where, and why.

You can say something the right way that needed to be said but you chose the wrong timing, which can undo all your best efforts. Right?

Also, where you say it is also very important.

One of the places that saying the right thing at the right time in the right way and for the right reason is needed, is in the workplace.

How often has a leader failed at this with disastrous consequences?

In this episode, you'll discover 5 benefits that your team would do well simply by learning how to be an effective communicator. You'll also hear what being an effective communicator means.

KGS189 | 5 Reasons Why Emotelligence Is The Most Critical Skill Needed To Successfully Rebound From Covid19 Pandemic by Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S EMOTELLIGENCE TIME +++

There was and maybe still is, a popular commercial that has to do with a beer, which I won't mention here because I'm not being paid to promote them.

The popular phrase would go like this: "It's (name of the beer) Time!" The point of the commercial was that this beer is what you need for special times.

We are in special times because of Covid19, wouldn't you say?

It's unprecedented.

There is so much we don't know and will not know anytime soon. It's almost, "learn as you go."

However, there is one thing you cannot afford to "learn as you go" when it comes to successfully rebounding from this pandemic. It's the skill of emotelligence.

Maybe you've never heard this word before, or maybe you have. Either way, you've got to listen to this episode of The Kingsley Grant Show as I share the 5 Reasons Why Emotelligence Is The Most Critical Skill Needed To Successfully Rebound From Covid19 Pandemic.

KGS188 | Why The Best Leaders Use Coaching To Inspire People To Do Great Work And How You Can Too by Sarah Wirth and Kingsley Grant

+++ MORE TO IT +++

Have you ever read or listened to a story and felt there was more to it than what you read or heard?

When I first heard and read about coaching, I really thought that it wasn't for me.

Actually, I didn't see the purpose of it. The only reference I had of coaching, was in the area of sports.

Fast forward to today. I now wonder how can a person who aspires for greatness, do without a coach.

Think about the likes of Tiger Woods, Lebron James, the late Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and so many others. There is one thing that is true of all these people ... they all had coaches.

In this episode, our guest - Sarah Wirth, discusses how leaders can become more effective at leading when they choose the coaching path to help their team be more successful.

KGS186 | How To Lead Like A Pro In Crisis Without Changing Who You Are by Melissa Lamson with Kingsley Grant

+++ LEAN ON ME +++

Musical artist Bill Withers penned and sung the widely popular song: "Lean On Me." Do you remember it?

Here are some of the lyrics:

"Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on"

The message behind the song is that at one point in your life, you're gonna need someone to lean on.

This could not be more true than in times of crisis.

Leaders have a golden opportunity to shine as they become that person their people can lean on.

Unfortunately, some leaders won't be chosen by their people because they do not find them trustworthy to lean on.

In this episode, our guest Melissa Lamson, shares with us how leaders can become better at making themselves dependable so that their people will lean on them.

KGS185 | Create A Results Oriented Work Environment That Successfully Achieves The Objectives Of The Organization by Kevin Gyolai and Kingsley Grant

+++ RESULTS PLEASE +++

Have you ever been to the doctor and he or she sent you to do some blood work to rule out some concerns?

If you've done that, how quickly do you want the results? A year later? A month later? Or as soon as possible (ASAP)?

If you are like me, which I believe you are, you want it ASAP.

Who wants to wait for any unnecessary length of time?

This is becoming more of a trend in the area of work where employers are looking for people that can get them the result they are looking for.

And it's understandable.

Therefore, becoming a person who delivers results makes you more of an attractive candidate for companies looking to hire people.

However, not everyone is capable of creating a Results-Only Work Environment satisfactorily.

In this episode, our guest Kevin Gyolai takes us behind the scenes and helps us understand how to best do so plus a 30-day roadmap.

KGS184 | Manage Your Emotions Now Or Face The Consequences Later Says World Leading Expert On Facial Coding Dr Dan Hill with Kingsley Grant

+++ OR ELSE +++

In what context do you remember first hearing these words - or else?

My first introduction to those words was through my parents especially my dad. It was a warning; a threat. But it was not one that my siblings or I  wanted to know what it meant.

We knew.

It was where our butt and a belt coincided.  You too?

So now, when I use these words, that's the image I have in my mind; one of pain.

This pain is not exclusive to my situation.

Many leaders today are feeling the "pain" of simply not managing their emotions well. It is happening the world over.

In this episode, our guest Dr. Dan Hill - a leading expert on facial coding /expressions driven by emotions, helps us understand how to best avoid letting our emotions rule the day. Two of the emotions that he highlights among others are anger and happiness.

++++++++++++++++++++

Who is Dr. Dan HIll?

Dr. DAN HILL is the founder and president of Sensory Logic, Inc, which pioneered the use of facial coding in business in order to capture and quantify emotional dynamics.

The company has done work for over 50% of the world's top 100 B2C companies and has 7 U.S. patents related to facial coding scoring techniques.

Dan has spoken to audiences in over 25 countries, has published 8 books, and his numerous media appearances included front-page coverage in The New York Times.

KGS183 | 5 Proven Keys to Lead a High-Performing Remote Work Force During and After A Crisis by Kingsley Grant

+++ SHOW UP +++

Have you ever been pleasantly surprised by someone's behavior?

Could it be that that person was only waiting for the chance to show how capable they truly were given the chance?

It has happened to me on many occasions. When I saw or heard what the person in question did or said, I was blown away. I underestimated them.

This is what I believe is happening across the world with people being asked to work remotely because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Employees are stepping up their game because they are not in an environment where they were feeling suffocated and where they weren't given the chance to show what they were truly capable of.

It's amazing what people can do when the "shackles" have been lifted.

In this episode, you'll discover how to ride this wave, making the experience more meaningful, and still, feel like you have a team that you are leading. It could easily spiral into one-man shows, which you don't want to happen.

KGS182 | How To Make Tough Decisions During A Crisis That Will Have Your People Applaud And Thank You Afterwards with Dr Anuj Shah and Kingsley Grant

+++ IT'S TOUGH +++

Do you recall the toughest decision you ever had to make? How did it go? Did it work out as you hoped?

Making decisions can sometimes be tough and tricky.

You just don't know how it will end up. This is especially true when dealing with other people whom you have no control over. They might not react to your decision as you hope they would.

Decision making can be nerve-racking for some people.

They are just not good at making decisions much less tough ones.

The decision-making process becomes more complicated during times of high stress or during times of crisis.

In this episode, cardiologist Dr. Anuj Shah shares how to make tough decisions framed by empathy and how it is also good for the "heart."

+++ CLOSE THE GAP +++

Do you wish at times to be close to someone or others but where you are located makes it almost impossible?

How do you feel when you are not able to do so?

Moving to the United States by myself was a challenge for me in many ways. One of those ways was longing at times to be with my family and could not because of where I was and where they were.

It was not pleasant, to say the least.

My only methods of communication were by phone and by mail. Forget about being able to see the face of your loved ones.

Thank God this has changed, yet there are still challenges.

This is especially true when leaders are trying to lead their teams remotely.

How do you accomplish that task successfully?

What's the secret?

In this episode of The Kingsley Grant Show, our guest - Randy McNeely - shares some insights as to how to do so, in practical ways. The good news is that what he shares works for non-remote settings as well. Take a listen.

KGS179 | Heartfelt Leadership Is The Recipe For Higher Engagement Retention Morale and Productivity with Mark Crowley and Kingsley Grant

+++ TRULY HEARTFELT +++

Have you ever heard something and one of your reactions were, "that was truly heartfelt?"

For me, this happens most times at a funeral.

When someone shares something from their heart about a loved one - family or friend - you know it was from their heart. There is something about the delivery and the content that just feels that way.

Have you ever experienced anything like that?

What about in the workplace? Have you ever had a leader share a heartfelt message that instantly connects you with them?

In this episode, you will hear our guest - Mark Crowley - talk about why heartfelt speeches or better yet, leadership, is so important to increase engagement, loyalty, morale, and so much more.

You'll leave wondering why some leaders are not leading this way.
