Kintsugi Talks

Kintsugi Talks

By Saroya Brown

Kintsugi means "joining with gold" in Japanese. The centuries old art is more than an aesthetic. For the japanese, it's part of a broader philosophy of embracing the beauty of human flaws. It reminds us that something can break and yet still be beautiful. Once it's repaired, it's stronger in the places it was once broken.
Here I want to bridge the gap in having conversations about God, Mental Health/Illness, and everything in between whole also showing that what you consider to be broken and/or imperfect, God sees as a masterpiece.

A Long Time Coming | Update

A Long Time Coming | Update

It's been a long time coming.

I can't make any promises for consistency, but what I can do is show up with authenticity. Which is what I hope you guys are able to see for every episode of this podcast I've done so far. The reason I started this podcast was to be a safe space for not only myself, but for others to know that their struggle is not only their own, and that there is people who are willing to stand with you and for you in your situation; whatever it may be.

If you guys have topics you'd like me to discuss for future episodes, you can submit your requests here.

To keep up with the podcast on social media, you can find all the links here.

I'll see you in the next episode.

How to come back down? | The Aftermath

How to come back down? | The Aftermath

The discussion of what life looks like after a failed suicide attempt is one I don't hear talked about enough. As someone who had a failed attempt just a few months ago, and many others before that, I'm familiar with the process all too well. In todays episode, I hope me sharing my story and journey will give those who have a loved one with a past of suicide attempts a better understanding, and for those who are in the process of putting their life back together, a sense of hope with the fact that you're not alone. Here is a template for a Safety Plan that I created, free to use, so you can get started on making your own. https://www.canva.com/design/DAFZ2y7HNko/fkrJBxAf8Op0EQ7aRhsuhg/view?utm_content=DAFZ2y7HNko&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink&mode=preview Where you can follow and keep up with the Podcast: https://linktr.ee/KintsugiTalksPod

Broken and Redeemed with John Jarman

Broken and Redeemed with John Jarman

With no memory of his childhood till the age of twelve, John Jarman had no conscious way to overcome the unknown pain in his past. When his adult life crumbled around him, he finally reached out for professional help, both emotionally and spiritually. Over the next ten years, this inner work lead John to places he—and his counselor—would never have expected.

As John moved closer to God in the process, the storm hit harder than ever, taking him to his knees.

Discover how John got up and, by the grace of God, walked through the storm of his life and strengthened his faith through completely surrendering to his Heavenly Father. As John learned and shares in this book, trusting God and becoming vulnerable are the only way to true freedom.

In his book Broken and Redeemed, John shares a story of beautiful, authentic brokenness that rests in the redemption only found in God.

The truth about Vulnerability

It's easier said than done when it comes to vulnerability. Well it's easier said than done when it comes to pretty much anything nowadays. This episode is more like a rant but I'm hoping there's someone who listens they can be touched by the words I expressed in this episode.

Kintsugi Talks Podcast Episode 6 | What Stigma looks Like

Kintsugi Talks Podcast Episode 6 | What Stigma looks Like

We still live in the world where stigma is very much alive and it affects everyone in different levels in different ways. Now this doesn't just go for people outside of the church, this goes for people inside of the church as well. The church is not just a building with four walls, the church is the group of people who have come together in one Accord to say that they believe in God, and they believe that Jesus is our Lord and savior who died and Rose in three days from the grave. We don't have to let stigma exist anymore. It's time to push against it.
