Marios Polycarpou is a Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Cyprus, and the Director of the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence. He is widely recognized as a leading figure in the area of computational intelligence and control systems, and one of the most cited authors in engineering and computer science. He pioneered in the use of Artificial Neural Networks for control and fault diagnosis. He has been leading the KIOS Center of Excellence since 2008, and serves on the board of the prestigious Cyprus Academy of Sciences. He has received numerous awards, including the IEEE Neural Networks Pioneer Award, and is the recipient of an ERC Advance Grant, and an ERC Synergy Grant.
