Comic Book Character Of The Month - Superman > Max Fleischer’s Superman
Angus concludes Superman Month with a review of Max Fleischer’s Superman. Max Fleischer gave the world’s first Super Hero his initial animated spotlight, producing 17 theatrical animated shorts from September 1941 to July 1943 that further elevated the character’s profile, and added many significant aspects to his canon – including coining many of Superman’s patented catchphrases and attributes. This is all in celebration and great anticipation of Superman's return to the big screen in James Gunn's 'Superman' coming to theaters in July 2025!

Superman: The Golden Age Vol. 1
https://www.amazon.com/Superman-Golden-Action-Comics-1938-2011-ebook/dp/B01BLZX0RC/
Faster than a speeding bullet, Superman burst onto the comic book scene in 1938, just as America was on the terrifying precipice of a world war. In a desperate time, legendary creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster brought to life the world's first modern superhero. The Man of Steel emerged as a champion of the oppressed, taking down any enemy with his super-strength and speed, both foreign and near to home. In his distinctive royal blue, red and yellow costume, complete with cape, the stalwart Kryptonian emanated strength and fearlessness. He swiftly became a symbol of hope for a downtrodden America.

Dungeons & Dragons: Saturday Morning Adventures
https://www.amazon.com/Dungeons-Dragons-Saturday-Morning-Adventures/dp/1684059437/
Long before the world turned upside down and new generations discovered D&D, six kids boarded a magical roller coaster and were transported to the Forgotten Realms!
Noble ranger Hank, intrepid acrobat Diana, quiet thief Sheila, impulsive barbarian Bobby, fearful and cavalier Eric, and uncertain magician Presto only want to get back to their own world. But escaping the Realms has turned out to be much harder than getting there! Danger lurks at every turn, the enigmatic Dungeon Master is less than helpful, and Venger, the force of evil, will stop at nothing to get his hands on the magical weapons the kids have come to rely on. To top it off, Hank has made a startling discovery: Despite the dangers, Sheila, Bobby, Diana, and the others aren’t so sure they want to go home after all!
Bards David M. Booher (Canto) and Sam Maggs (Rick and Morty Ever After) join artificer George Kambadais (John Carter of Mars) for a thrilling “lost episode” that charts new territory in the world of D&D.
Dungeons & Dragons aired on CBS in 1983 and ran for three seasons with 27 episodes, but premature cancellation meant crucial scripts went unproduced. Yet, it still made an indelible impression on its audience, and legions of D&D players recall it fondly to this day.

Doc and Angus rally behind Captain America Sam Wilson as he battles low approval ratings and the slithery sabotage of the vile Sons of the Serpent.
Captain America: Sam Wilson Vol. 1
https://www.amazon.com/Captain-America-Wilson-Vol-2015-2017-ebook/dp/B01DCJIW8C/
When Steve Rogers was restored to his natural age, he chose one of his closest and most trusted allies to take up his shield: Sam Wilson, formerly the Avenger known as the Falcon! But Sam isn't Steve — and after recent events, he's on the outs with both his old friend and S.H.I.E.L.D. What could have sent the high flying new Cap's approval rating plummeting so dramatically? Things get slithery when the vile Sons of the Serpent make the scene, and you'll howl at the glorious return of fan-favorite Cap-Wolf — well, Fal-Cap-Wolf! But what other horrors await in the dungeon of Doctor Malus? And who will be the All-New, All-Different Falcon? The headline-making Sam Wilson is a Captain America for today!
Collects Captain America: Sam Wilson #1-6.

The Kids Talk The Filth
Doc and Angus go on a mind-altering voyage of conspiracies and revelations as only Grant Morrison can create in The Filth.
The Filth New Edition
https://www.amazon.com/Filth-New-Grant-Morrison-ebook/dp/B06XXSDY6Y/
Greg Feely is a "dodgy bachelor" living a quiet life in London alone with his elderly cat. Everything changes when a strange woman named Miami Nil confronts him. She informs him that "Greg Feely" is actually a "para-personality"--in effect, a secret identity--and that he is in fact Ned Slade, the top agent for an organization called the Hand, a group of extra-dimensional agents who need Greg/Ned back in action!
This out-of-the-box sci-fi story encapsulates the superb talents of two amazing creators into one of the most original graphic novels ever! From the legendary writer Grant Morrison (DOOM PATROL, BATMAN, THE INVISIBLES) and Chris Weston (THE INVISIBLES) comes sci-fi weirdness of the deepest level. Features the complete series of THE FILTH (#1-13) with extra sketch material and annotations from Grant Morrison.

Comic Book Character Of The Month - Flex Mentallo
Doc and Angus bulked up on their Vertigo Comics reading and return with a swole review of Flex Mentallo: Man Of Muscle Mystery.
Flex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery
https://www.amazon.com/Flex-Mentallo-Man-Muscle-Mystery-ebook/dp/B009POHHQW/
Once he was Hero of the Beach...and of the Doom Patrol. Now Flex Mentallo, the Man of Muscle Mystery, returns to investigate the sinister dealings of his former comrade, The Fact, and a mysterious rock star whose connection to Flex may holding the key to saving them both.
This fast-paced tale twists super-hero tropes, introducing one mind-boggling concept after another.
This long-asked-for Vertigo title is collected at last, presenting an early collaboration between writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely, who would win much acclaim on ALL-STAR SUPERMAN.
