Are all Carbs the Same?
Quick answer is NO! Ultraprocessed foods that don’t look anything like the original form of food. Think sausage vs a piece of protein; or bread vs whole grain quinoa or rice; or ultra processed fat vs clean extra virgin olive oil; veggies vs no veggies whatsoever… Most nuggets of anything, fried, stuffed, breaded, These kinds of foods - mostly carbs very little protein or anything else - the worst - actually suck nutrients out of your body as your body has to work extra hard to detox them , and these foods feed your inflammation, so your body is busy making inflammatory chemistry instead of healing you. Which is Harder? Pain of Regret or Discipline?
The last three Mondays we talked about making and keeping promises to ourselves, what happens when we don’t and the fact that our self confidence/esteem/value all goes down when we don’t keep promises to ourselves .   So, Which is harder?  *Keeping the promise or living with in your current pain?  *What do you want your life to look like?  *WHAT DO YOU think GOD wants your life to look like?  *Is NOT keeping promises to yourself interfering in your relationships?   *Are those around you starting to not trust what you say you're going to do for yourself because you always flake on yourself?  What needs to change? Where is the pain? Weight loss, ending a relationship, staying in a relationship,    There is a technical term for this - delayed gratification…we should all be learning to delay gratification. This is a skill developed between the ages of 8 and 13. So, you may be running programs about delaying gratification that you were taught or caught from your parents during that age. Overwhelmed with where to start your Gluten Free journey  1. What is your main health goal.  For many it’s weight loss. However, if you’ve been sick for a while that might not happen. Your body has to heal first. It’s in survival mode and isn’t going to release any weight until it’s sure it’s healthy  2. Most clients try substitution first; GF doesn’t equal carb free  3. Committed to Yourself or Not?
What are you committed to? So, if you’re like I was - I kept promises to myself  way less thanI kept my word to others - For so long I hid behind people pleasing, traffic, getting busy, got overwhelmed, the inevitable “something happened and I…”   It’s like having a cloud over your head though right? What does it feel like when you let yourself down? - I’d love to know how it makes you feel... Proverbs 25:13-14Reliable friends who do what they say    are like cool drinks in sweltering heat—refreshing! Like billowing clouds that bring no rain   is the person who talks big but never produces.   If you’re unsure what your typical excuses or what may also be described as a well designed lie to yourself….  **Ask your self a different question…. ***What is consistently more important than keeping your word to yourself?  ****Who else do you think this is affecting in your life?   I can tell you - all those excuses - were affecting my parenting. Your kids do what you do - not what you say - they will also learn to self sabotage and not keep their word to themselves. So much more...

Is Gluten Really THAT Bad for You?
Is Gluten that Bad For You? The short answer is: it depends… Do you have celiac disease? This is an autoimmune reaction to gluten that causes long term digestive issues and prevents your body from being able to absorb the nutrients it needs Gold standard is biopsy; blood tests are not totally accurate. Interestingly the associated disorders include low thyroid - Hashimoto’s - AI thyroid; malabsorption, B-12 and iron deficiency Gluten sensitivity? This is a blood test for the antibodies to the gluten - this is different than an allergy - IBS, brain fog, headaches, neurological symptoms, tremors, vertigo, anxiety, depression, fatigue, muscle and joint pain Any other Auto-Immune disorder or symptoms of AI? Do You Let Your Friends Down or Yourself Down?
How often do you flake on your friends? How often do you flake on yourself?   I’m going to continue on this path of mental/soul/gut health. I believe that when we get these three parts on the right path, we can really start to transform all the parts our life for God.  And my guess is, if you're really honest, and like I was - you rarely flake on your friends - you rarely let them down. However, you let yourself down regularly and then beat yourself up for it!   So, as important as it is to get help when you need it. There’s also a time to do the work, and start getting real with yourself.   Biblical - Galatians 6: 2-5 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load.

I ate Donuts! Guess what happened...
I ate donuts this weekend! Just so you know I’m not perfect. Every once in a while I splurge - big time! Not even going to kid you, those donuts were no joke YUMMY!  However…  How about you?  Did you stick to your plan and totally nail it this weekend? Or did you slide down the slippery weekend slope? This is where I see so many clients really self sabotage. They do great during the week. But…then Friday and one glass of wine and by Saturday night all bets are off and they’re totally off plan!! Only to be frustrated on Monday because they gained the three pounds they lost the week before.   And then I remember WHY I only do it periodically:  1. Physically, I feel gross today!! Mild headache, kinda bloated, a little sluggish and less productive  2. Mentally and emotionally, my anxiety is higher, the sugar highs and lows leave my blood sugar unstable  3. I’m craving again - I don’t like any of those feelings.  Now I could really beat myself up - which happens to a lot of you and the slippery slope gets longer - and this certainly used to be my pattern until I figured it out. (Learn HOW I figured it out on my upcoming Masterclass - link for info below) ALL that  reminds me of my ultimate WHY!  Because I grasp God’s enormous live for me - as best as humanly possible, I know I love myself, so I can love on you… I know I deserve to feel good everyday. You don’t have to be the victim of your own choices  and live in that shame. I know that when I make the healthy choices, I feel topnotch I can do  more for God and my family. Mindset Monday: Do NOT Let THIS Win!
We know that any time we are attempting to get closer to God and God’s plan for our life - there may be an intervention!!  By Resistance - not the Star Wars kind, but the Satan kind. Steven Pressfield in his book the Art of War says Resistance may be defined as…just listen to get his definition. So how might those Resistance behavior patterns surface?  Most commonly they surface as   1. Hunger  2. Feeling Deprived   3. I don’t feel like eating healthy  4. “I deserve a treat”  Let’s walk through each of these to come up with a new strategy  1. Are you actually hungry OR is there something going else going on? Did you know that 40% of the time, your may just be thirsty?? Not actually hungry...SO let’s try water, LaCroix, something without sugar!  2. Feeling deprived and I deserve a treat may have a common cause. Ask yourself: Is this need to make a poor choice in reaction to something else going on? Guilt and Shame: Part 3 Wearing my heart on my sleeve. Discussing the root of poor self esteem, self sabotage, anxiety, people pleasing, and depression.
I WAS completely incongruent and inauthentic. Jesus changed everything for me...Guilt, hyper-responsibility and shame are all emotions I’ve wrestled with over time. I WAS an expert at people pleasing and self sabotage! Inside I felt anxious and depressed. On the outside, no one knew, I looked happy and positive. I don’t live like that any longer, and you don’t have to either. I am whole again I’m the same on the inside and the outside. Are you more likely to… Be a people pleaser Have Anxiety Be Depressed? Guilt and Shame: Part 2 Where do those thoughts come from?
Did you know that up 95% of your value system is programmed into your neural pathways before the age of 18!!?? No wonder we act like kids and throw tantrums when we're 35, ok 58 😎. Thoughts precede emotions, emotions in motion lead to behaviors. But, where do the thoughts start? Where do they come from? Your thoughts originate from your value systems and programs. Your values and programs were instilled from other humans in your life - your mothers, fathers, teachers and preachers. In addition to the humans in your world, how and where you grew up, the messages you were told, the events - negative and positive, ultimately influence your thoughts, now. Interestingly: 95% of your values are instilled before you’re 18!!! 0-4 years old - 50% 5-8 years old - 30% 9-18 years old - 15% =====> 95% Before the age of 10-12 years old, your brain is really a sponge. You don’t really have the framework necessary to make rational thoughts out of the information you're taking in. You create stories to make the information make sense. Guilt and Shame Part 1: Thoughts, Emotions, Actions
Thoughts become emotions, emotions in motion become actions - this is where the self sabotage starts…  What thoughts do you have that precede the emotions?  DO you feel...not good enough, not enough?  Do you compare yourself to others?  Are you sad, disappointed, angry?  DO you have fear and/or anxiety ruling your life?  Any of these can trigger emotions that can lead to self sabotaging behaviors.   Then what??? S2E4 Are you Sinatra?
So, let’s get this straight. God wants, no, He commands you to take care of HIS temple. Mr Sinatra was certainly fine with doing it his way - “he sings that he “took the blows” Are firmly planted in Frank Sinatra-land, “I’m doing it MY way’. Are you taking the blows? That’s completely fine. No judgement. However, before you scroll on, 2 questions: If you're being honest, how is Your energy level? Your mental/emotional/spiritual health? Your weight management? Your ability to cope with life’s ups and downs? Again, honest, how’s it going on your own? Okay, let’s assume you figured out that MAYBE your way isn’t working so well. Which of these is/are your biggest challenge(s)? Not staying motivated. Feeling deprived after a couple days. Feeling like you “deserve”…. Feeling hungry all the time. Don’t really have a plan. Dismantled: Resistance cannot live in the presence of Jesus
Okay, so God gave us a temple to house the Holy Spirit. Cool. However, He also tells us that the temple actually belongs to Him and commands us to take care of the temple. I don’t know about you, but when someone “commands“ me to do anything it gets my hackles up, gets my knickers in a knot, and causes Resistance to rise up and stand strong. I get so prideful. And haughty in spirit. And how does this serve me? I get to be right! I get to live exactly the way I want to! I get to make the choices I want to make! Yep, sounds like a 4 year old! And I got to feel empty and incongruent with how I was showing up in my life. Optimistic on the outside, dying on the inside. SPOILER ALERT: Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs tells us exactly what’s going to happen. Yet, we’re usually surprised when life starts to unravel. My life certainly unravelled. Not just my health at certain times, also my relationships, finances, and my faith. Yes, it’s a longer story. You can find it on my earlier podcasts and the links to the Global Leadership Summit (Part 1  and Part 2) story about my journey. Beware, it’s ugly! It was ugly for a long time. I’ve been running from God for over 15 years. However, the fall and destruction followed. Maybe God is causing part of your destruction, to get your attention. Maybe that health scare was for your benefit. Maybe your summer clothes that don’t fit are a warning. God uses circumstances we understand to communicate His message, loud and clear. God slowly stripped me of all my external validation. All the “things” I had created and accumulated that defined “who I was” were slowly dismantled. Until, HE was the only “thing” I could see and the only thing left for me to grab. Resistance cannot live in the presence of Jesus. I was humbled. I got to the place where I had no choice but to look at the price Jesus paid for me. I was reminded that I get to have a relationship with the God who kept chasing after me. And the benefits of that life over the me, me, me and more of me. When I was “all about me”, so was He! He was after the me He created, not the one I created. Ultimately, I was overcome by gratitude. It’s so much easier to follow from a place of gratitude and love, than that of duty, obligation, fear or shame. It’s a journey understanding God’s unconditional love for me, my value and self esteem. I’ll be walking you through all of that in upcoming podcasts…However, how are you going to respond to His relentless pursuit of YOU? You can keep slogging through life or you can create a new one? How are you going to respond? Is your current response serving you? Are you going to keep running? Or are you going to allow God into your heart and life in a new way. Romans 8:1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. God loves you!

Radical Renovation?
Do you believe your health is holding you back from doing something you REALLY want to do? Do you believe your health is holding you back from living the life  God created for you? Or your health is in such a place you're not even sure you have the clarity to discern what God wants for you? I have definitely been there at 185 pounds, carrying baby weight and Cooper was 4 or 5 years old already! I was still eating for two! Maybe you’ve tried so many times before to get healthy. And, now you feel frustrated, angry, and full of guilt and shame. Then, one day it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was reading in 1 Corinthians that our bodies are the temple for the Holy Spirit! WOW! My temple needed a radical renovation! Do you feel like your temple needs renovating or at least an update? Or are you so frustrated and full of guilt and shame about your health journey, you’ve given up? I’ve learned a new way! You don’t have to do this with guilt and shame. Remember 2 things: 1. Health is a journey 2. God has you exactly where He wants you and he loves you  Psalm 48:9 Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. YES!~ In YOUR temple! He loves you!

Doing a new thing?
Hey hey y’all Today we’re going to talk about… What happens to you when you're going to do a new thing? Is 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness  and streams in the wasteland. FIRST Welcome - Quick update before I move on - 2 yes’s Yes, I moved to a new state; Yes, I still have a virtual practice. What happens to you when you are going to try a new thing? Most of you don’t really like change. You like it while it’s exciting and new, yet, when the new wears off, it gets discarded and you're on to the next thing. But, what if the new thing is BIG, like a career move? Or location change? Or relationship status change? What do you do? 3 different responses that I’ve seen You hit it head on. You're a bull in the china closet, leaping before you look, only assessing the consequences down the road. Maybe you go on your “gut feeling or intuition”, maybe you know the voice of the Holy Spirit so well, you Just Do It. OR maybe You freak out, get anxious and procrastinate? You may not know this, most procrastination is usually the result of Resistance, per Steven Pressfield in the War of Art, feigning as perfectionism and insecurity. OR Do you hide, lack honesty and vulnerability? This is me. I go underground, avoidance behavior. I attempt to hide from God - 😂 This of course is just another form of Resistance. Afraid of what other think, I hide. Psalm 139 tells us that we cannot hide from God. He knows not only everything about us, including all our insecurities and doubts, He formed us exactly the way we are for His purposes. And this is where I landed a few days ago. Smack dad in the middle of one of my favorite Psalms. So, I’m leaping, taking the big step. Every time I try something new, I’m reminded of the scene in Indiana jones where he must cross a chasm that has no bridge. He figures out by the clues he’s given, he must take a step first, then the stepping stone appears. Our action must come first This podcast is the first of my new format. Shorter, to the point. I will include everything from what to eat and drink to how to move, sleep, think feel and have faith. So you’ll want to stay in touch and subscribe to learn more about my BIG, SCARY project.
