Gen X Cinema Geeks

Lucky you! A new pot of gold from your favorite sparring cinema siblings to fill your Irish heart with joy. Or something like that. Join us as we travel back in time to the early aughts which are surprisingly full of space stations, Victorian poets, Hobbitses (what's hobbitses, Precious?), Zombies, and one a$$-kicking amnesiac super spy. The pre-cogs tell us this episode is top notch - no crimes here. Although....Kris sings again, so that could honestly be counted as one.

After a long hiatus and much life stuff, the geeks are back to geeking. It's a world-building extravaganza as we tackle the embarrassment of cinematic riches that was 2001. There's Hobbits, wizards, Denzel Washington, paperwork, ghosts, and unidentified jet engine mayhem. Rich gets to fanboy, Kris gets to sing (although we all wish she would stop that). Mostly, it's just good clean fun. Except for a couple swear words. Ooops. Sorry Mom.

It's post Y2K and pre LOTR in the cinematic universe. We are back with the year 2000...kickoff to the aughts. Join us as we celebrate the triumphant return of Juliette Binoche, Kris gets more #basic than normal, but still manages to sing, Rich finds his new groove, and we return to our normal witty-bantering form after a long absence (which shall not be repeated and we endeavor not to undertake any such delays in the future).

The grand finale of secret lists is finally here! The wait is over! There are a lot of exclamation points happening! Will Rich continue down his dark path? Does he just need a hug? Does #basic Kris take on the preeminent film organization in the world? In an episode full of cooking rats, singing nuns, Hobbits and wizards, a trifecta of Audreys, and a relic-hunting archaeology professor, the Geeks take on their latest assignment with gusto. After a long hiatus, the geekery has returned to a podcast platform near you! Will Rich finally break out of the depressing slog list? Will Kris reveal a wretched hive of scum and villainy? Will there be Denzel Washington? Are you rushing or dragging? Are there sparkly vampires or the good kind? Is that really Chopper? Why so serious? So many questions. You'll just have to tune in to get the answers...

Also known as The Secret Lists Part Deux.  Well we had such a rip-snorting, cracking good time with our secret lists that we forged in secret a master list...no wait...that's not right.  

You'll have to tune in to find out if Rich can pronounce any of the names on his list, if Kris remains #basic, and which Sour Patch Kids are the best. No for reals though. 

We poured our little black and white hearts and souls into these lists.  And yes...for those of you following along at home, there is Denzel.  We know that's why you listen, and we support that. Any catchy descriptors would ruin the surprise and the one thing we love is a surprise.  And Denzel. And needle drops. And Shakespeare. And snacks.  So, I guess there's more than one thing.  But just sit patiently and wait for your surprise people. The answer is just a click away....

Well, we are fresh out of 1990's years to review.  But you know...geeks are gonna geek. So we're back with new lists. We'd love to share them with you, but that would take all the fun out of the episode. 

Be there when the envelopes are opened and the secret lists revealed! Be there when we talk about [censored] and [censored]. Hilarity ensues when Kris pontificates about [censored]. 

But we like you...so here's a little hint...  There will be cauldrons and dragons. Kurgans and Gelflings. Investigative journalists and baseball players. Figure skaters and serial killers.  You won't want to miss it!

It's the end of the decade here at Geek Headquarters, but what a way to go! How can a year that brought us The Matrix, Fight Club (even though we can't talk about it), Office Space and The Sixth Sense also have given us Jar Jar Binks??  In this episode, we say goodbye to our favorite decade and prepare for our next adventure. Shenanigans happen. Hilarity ensues. Denzel Washington is mentioned.  What could go wrong??

1998...the year that really tied the room together. It was a year of seeing double, two Queen Elizabeths, two big asteroids, two big WW2 movies, two cool capers, two alternate realities, two times Gwyneth Paltrow was British, two first feature films from legendary directors...  But only ONE DUDE.  Will Kris sing again?  Of course she will. Will Rich actually sing? Why are we singing anyway? Will 1998 mark the triumphant return of Denzel Washington?  Spoiler alert...YES.  Tune in to hear more as we blab all about the films that made 1998 one for the history books.

Will Casey Affleck ever get that sandwich? Do all Rich's movies involve ice or snow? Would two people REALLY have fit on the door? Does anyone even know who Rolo Tamassi is? Lucky number 7...also known as, GenX Cinema Geeks and the Nerdy Hallows.  Or something like that.  Join the Geeks as we deconstruct yet another year of 1990s cinema...one that we both struggled with.  What's up 1996?? It was the year of breakout roles, (HELLOOOOOO Ed Norton!) and a Scottish chap and future Jedi Master.  Soundtracks for days...nay...years.........nay...DECADES.  Does adding more ellipses even count?

The Gen X Cinema Geeks have been hacked! While Kris was with the away team, Rich and his Gen Z, non-movie-fan daughter took over the mic to bring you their Oscar predictions. His...based on actual knowledge.  Hers...based on the coolest names.  Will they be right? Will Kris reclaim her hosting helm? Will the Gen Z beat her dad in wins??  It's anyone's guess...
