We are joined by Robert Mapes a researcher at The Lake Erie Center that is the leader of the Grass Carp Strike Team!

Robert sat down with us to talk about his involvement in the fight against invasive grass carp. Grass Carp have been around this are for a long time, but have always been sterilized before being sold. That was until a fisherman caught three small grass carp that after test were done were found to have been new fish that were spawned naturally. Robert talks with us all about the progress that has been made and how they have pinpointed them to stop the spread before it is too late!

And for all my Walleye guys out there... We have an answer to the biggest argument of "The Walleye Run"....Kinda. Do they bite? or are we flossing. Stick around towards the second half to hear what Robert has to say about it!

Today we are joined with a new guest the proud founder of Portage Retrievers Nick Heckman!

Nick is a through and through outdoorsman weather it comes to birds, deer, turkeys, or training dogs.

We talk about our season and even though it was tough Nick was able to get on a lot of birds. Nicks dog Marsh was able to get past 400 retrieves in his first season out!

Birds were tough this year and Nick helps describe how they got after them. And with it being such a warm season Nick also sat in a stand a lot this year and he talks about that.

I mentioned Marsh earlier and that is nicks black lab. Only a year and a half and already has over 400 retrieves tune in to see what Nick did to get ol' Marsh dog to where he is at!

Hey Welcome back everyone!

I have a little bit different episode for you all this week, I'M SOLO!

Hunting season is kicking off for both early season goose and teal, as well as deer season is right around the corner. We are all busy getting gear prepped and making final adjustments to make sure we have a successful season for both 4 legged animals and winged animals!

On this podcast I go through a few of the hunts I was able to go on this early season. I am still learning every hunt and every season. I share some of the things I noticed that resulted on birds not coming in all the way, as well as talk about the failed hunts I lacked preparation on.

The boys were able to have a good hunt, but not a perfect hunt and I will get into some of the issues we had and how we switched things up to still be successful!

As all anglers have their preference we get into what reels we like/dislike and why. DC reels used to be a huge hit and fan favorite, but now they are just a reel that makes too much noise!..... ( I still like them)

In this episode we have all the boys back together. Malachi, Kenny, Kyle and I sit around and catch up on all the fishing/outdoor activities we have been up to.

Malachi, Kenny, and I went on a smallmouth trip up north into Michigan for a few days in the search for some big smallmouth bass! The trip produced some great fish, and you can see some on my TikTok @TheKrustyKast. It wasn't an easy trip. The fish were pretty picky in what they ate, but on the last day we were able to dial in and get some big fish in the boat!

Kyle is back on and joining us! Kyle has been fishing his heart out on his kayak making us all jealous at work while he is smoking fish! Kyle gets a bit into his kayak setup and the joys about it.

This episode we are joined by Brian Hall and his kid (Gage).  They have been in and around the outdoors for basically their whole lives!  

On this episode we are able to talk about almost anything related to the outdoors... from growing up on a farm, to chasing a turkey through the woods, to catching bass all day!  These two are full of stories and experiences!

Kenny and I try and not only hear what exactly these two do in the woods, but also give us a chance to pick their brains to see why they do what they do in the woods.  Kenny and I being younger than Brian we share different views on a few topics and strategy when in the woods.

Having gage on the podcast is also a big swing in generation! Gage is younger than Kenny and I by a long shot.  We were all kids once, and Gage helps us remember the exact thoughts we had when dad would drag us out of our warm bed to go freeze in a tree hahaha.

On this Episode of the Krusty Kast the boys have been hitting the season hard!  As we take a trip up north on the first official on the road podcast we chat it up about the season. 

Ohio has produced some birds for us so far as Kenny and I have been able to hit the Marsh zone opener and North zone opener in Ohio.  Two weeks produced two firsts for me.  I was able to get my first Wood Duck and first mallard!

Had a semi slow opening day in the marsh however the day was not wasted.  The next week Kenny and I were able to have a super productive day in the North zone slaying mallards.  After all that excitement we had a trip planned up north into Michigan for a guided trip with Great Lakes Guided Outdoors (GLGO).  Before the guided trip the group was able to hit a hidden hole full of Michigan Wood Ducks.  Had a great trip up north!

This episode o f the Krusty Kast Grant Gallagher Joins me.  Growing up Grant was more of a walleye guy that transitioned to Bass.... Kinda like me except with pan fish.  Grant is a rising senior at Adrian college as well.  We get into talking about his transition from walleye to bass and what led him onto the path he is on.  One of the most dedicated anglers I have met and as the title says he waits for NO ice!!
