As Christians, we are called to share our faith to others. That can not only be exciting, but frightening. There are many struggles we face when witnessing to nonbelievers. We all have a nickname, whether other people know it or not. We all struggle with our sin, but how is our sin, and the world's, the key point to the Christmas story? As Americans, we have a certain standard of life. The level of ease we have the privilege of experiencing is much different than others. Even though our lives may be 'cushy', we suffer in other ways. As Christians, sometimes unjust suffering occurs. Jesus went through suffering, but for a very important purpose. How can we participate in God's plan, and how do we grow as Believers? In this passage, Peter compares believers to children in a family, stones in a building, and priests in a nation. Through his metaphors pulled from older Scripture, Peter expresses the pure milk we need in order to grow, and the Cornerstone in our faith. What is a Spiritual Family? How do we gain that family? What is our role? Jacob and Esau were born with a conflict, and this conflict continued into the two nations they became: Edom and Israel. This was told of in the divine oracle/prophecy of Obadiah. Sometimes things don't always turn out how we thought they would. We can experience situations we didn't expect, and this can cause uncertainty. In this passage, Habakkuk is trusting, waiting, and surrendering to God's plan. In the beginning of the book, he had been asking questions that are in contrast to the end, and now his faith has matured since the start of his conversation with God. In this sermon, Pastor Chrisopher talks about the contrast between the beginning questions and the end praise Habakkuk presents to God.
