When Nicla DiCosmo, former co-owner of Gypsy Warrior which was a wildly successful digital retailer which flourished to several brick and mortar shops, started the biz after college with a good friend she has no clue where it would lead. The road to success however, was already paved for her thrusting her quickly at a young age, into the world of entrepreneurship and building a lifestyle brand. She was always on and going 100 miles a minute to keep it going.
However, things are never quite as they seem and under the surface she was slowly confronting her own demons. She was forced to tackle sudden heartbreak as many things in her life began to seemingly unravel. She took charge by quitting liquor and intoxicants, embracing the spiritual change that was taking place and finding her true path, to heal.
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the moment (a moment could be a week, a year or ten) and don't think about what is next in life or what our TRUE path actually is. Nicla's story is genuine and one we can all relate to. Her mantra is to "follow your curiosity" wherever that will lead you! Curiosity does a spirit good.

The first season, is always tough. You plan, plot, interview, work on it and eventually, it ends and people either love it or hate it. The arts, are...embarrassing as a friend once told me. Either way, here we are at the end and I can't thank you enough for listening.
My goal with this podcast was always to unearth the stories and narratives from a diverse group of creative women. To talk about the stories that don't always get surfaced to the top. As cool as it is to chat with successful CEO's, the reality is many of us ladies are living respectably inspiring lives without sitting at the top of the castle. Hopefully, mission accomplished and next season I'm ready to cut my teeth on so much more because we're going to get political AF on the road to 2020.
The final episode of Season 1 is with Atlantic designer and artist Quinn Ryan who creates "doodles" as she calls them (she's humble, they are witty as fuck) for the IG account @RIDINGINCABSWITHBOYS
Quinn offers up some very practical advice on how to build a creative social account for the love of, getting your account some traction and what fuels her cartoons. We also discuss why it's absolutely OK to have a day job and why she chooses to keep her account as a fun pursuit instead of her main biz. BRB, FALL 2019.
Thank you for listening!
Have you ever day-dreamed of leaving what you are doing today to pursue your passion fearlessly? What would it take to push you over the edge?
On this episode I chat with a lady who is living that dream, actress and body positivity advocate RaVal Davis. A former music executive, turned full-time actress, she was working the 9-5 grind until a rare opportunity to break out came her way. RaVal focused on the fire that drove her artistically and by diving head-first into auditioning and fine-tuning her craft, she has been able to build a new career path. We sit down to discuss the inherent hardships along the way, what helped to inspire her to keep going and the real ways that you book a job as an actress.
[Spoiler alert: Perseverance required.]
I rant a bit about my newfound hatred for social media, cruising The Real Real for that perfect red Gucci Bag and other Things I Won't Accept In My 30's. My new mantra is visualize and put it out to the universe, you never know what will come back.

A wise man one said the only thing certain in life is death + taxes. HE WAS RIGHT.
It's been a crazy month for me and I wanted to dive into the end of tax season and what that means for us good 'ol hard working Americans in 2019. With Trump's tax cuts coming into play, were we REALLY feeling our pockets swell with more funds or just another PR play? Me, not so much...for you, i'd be curious :)
Also, RIP Nipsey Hussle. A first for me professionally and I talk about the impact of death of a loved one and how it should shift our perspective.
Listen, subscribe, let's talk!
CAN WE BE FRIENDS ON INSTAGRAM? HMU!
I had a moment the other day where I looked in the mirror and saw my face. All I could think was...god i'm looking older, WHO DID THIS TO ME???
Funny how it goes, one day you're young and fresh faced, the next day you're DEEPLY contemplating the benefits of botox and pour over every wrinkle. On this episode I dive into what it means to take a cold hard look in the mirror and ask yourself "am I ready for Botox yet?", for real. Aging, prevention and all that jazz on our 10th episode!
CAN WE BE FRIENDS ON INSTAGRAM?
Owning your own biz is hard. Owning your own biz, being a local Influencer plus full-time mom is even harder. Doing it while looking good? Near impossible…but my guest on this episode Lynn Hazan aka ChicpeaJC has the job down. As one of the most visible Jersey City based social media influencers, she has built a platform to highlight the many diverse and inspiring people of Jersey City. Her site www.chicpeajc.com collaborates with local businesses to highlight the offerings and new openings, she helps to shine light on civic issues and local political issues that may not be obvious to most residents. Most of all she shows the grit, talent and beauty Jersey City has to offer as a close cousin to NYC.
We discuss the realities of quitting a full time corporate job to start her own biz, creating a brand from scratch and the dedication / humility it takes and what it's REALLY like to be a successful influencer within an active community.

I don't know about you, but my comfort zone is a wonderful place. I feel pretty good hanging out there.
Unfortunately if you want to go anywhere in life you need to break through your own comfort zone, not just that invisible one that you carry around but that truly nasty one - your emotional comfort zone. While getting older inherently makes it more difficult to get out of your zone, it does help to highlight the significance of change and light a fire under your ass. In this episode I recount some activities I've been getting into lately that have pushed me over the cliff of my comfort and into a new consciousness.
I want to hear your stories about taking that step to break through. Shoot me some thoughts on INSTAGRAM and give us a like por favor.
I've put together a few simple steps to help you break outta the comfort zone:
Don’t puss out when actively moving forward gets hard
Enter a realm where you are not the master
Critically look at an experience and think about what excited you and what brought you down
Only you know your comfort zone and remember, it's 100% ok to do things at your way. Pick a vibe that feels foreign and get weird with it.
thank you for listening xx
In 2004, no metal fan could deny the power and influencer Fuse's Uranium had over their world. Juliya exploded on the scene as not only one of the only female voices in heavy music, but personality and realness that hadn't been seen before on national television. At a time where hard polish was still the norm for TV hosts she carved out a raw riche and was able to pivot her career throughout her 20's and evolve with the channel. I've always been curious and inspired by her ability to make such a huge impact in a genre that has traditionally be male dominated, at such a young age. On this episode, I dive into her story and she dishes out some real wisdom about her time on FUSE, moving into the future fearlessly and reinventing yourself as a lady gracefully. Fortunately for you, no censorship needed :)One of my fave interviews to date! Follow JuliyaON INSTAGRAMON TWITTER
Growing up a by-product of the true immigrant experience prepares you for a life of hard work. It is inevitable that watching the fruits of steady, daily labor would shape you into a machine for productivity. Adelle is the ultimate example of what many immigrant parents hope for their children after moving to this country. The definition of a H U S T L E R, we met years ago while speaking on an ethnic women in journalism panel at a local college. Watching her blossom from VIBE editorial, to breaking mainstream at Billboard, hosting her own series Side Hustle, as well as interviewing your favorite rappers on Tidal...she's been busy.In addition to her music journalism work, she co-founded HER SWEAT which shines a light on body positivity and women who are working on feeling their best through exercise. We all need a little push and inspiration to keep moving our bodies forward. The ultimate go-getter with heart, she's made some time to speak with LADY ISH about her journey and what has inspired her to keep pushing her career in different directions. She has recently decided to move to LA (we all make the journey out there at some point) starting a role at one of the world's biggest and most influential media companies, Netflix.Tune in to learn more about her incredible journey + learn more about her / follow HERE
Over the past few weeks Canada has become the new beacon of light for marijuana enthusiasts, declaring recreational legalization. Considering over half the US recognizes marijuana as legal in some way, shape or form - when will we be next? I discuss the nuances and weigh out how a plant once deemed "the devils lettuce" has now become a god-sent source of help for many who have been too afraid to utilize it in the past.Also...Halloween! Does it get better as we get older or more burdensome? Time to let the inner ho loose? You decide! Please subscribe and rate if you love me :)
VOTING: the other controversial V word. For so many Americans the importance of voting has been diminished by disappointments, miseducation, TRUMP and so many other X factors. Over the past 2 years I have been hitting the pavement trying to register other younger voters and with the latest developments in the Supreme Court, it is pretty fucking important to slay the midterms across the country. EVERY VOTE COUNTS.On this episode I discuss voting and some experiences registering folks to vote. OCT 16 IS THE CUT OFF SO GET IN THERE NOW IF YOU AREN'T ALREADY...REG 2 VOTE Also, I dive into health issues as we all get older. Things come up QUICK and I too recently had a scare that realigned intentions quickly. All you can think about is...am I going to die? You take yourself out of yourself and really being to analyze how everything connects. You learn to value every moment of your life and where it can bring you next. Deep thoughts man, but this becomes reality when the prospect of it ending pops up. What a time to be alive! Visit us on IG
M O N E Y: When we have it, we want more. When we don't have it, we want anything we can get. I've been reading a lot of philosophies that reiterate that MONEY IS FREEDOM and on this episode I break down how to get that freedom, slow and steady. I also breakdown my bankruptcy at 22 and how that reshaped my thoughts on spending and saving to live daily life. Can you imagine not having a credit card your ENTIRE 20's? Yah, that was my reality. It showed me how to forego expensive trips, brunches and other frivolous spends and made me assess every dollar that was coming in and gong out. This is not to say I didn't travel, drink endlessly or buy stupid shit in my 20's but it all came in CASH. No debt, no worries.I explore my current obsession with stacking away cash these days. How do you save?Key reading post cast: SET FOR LIFEFalling into a new episode every Monday flow, check it out!
Life waits for no one, like literally. A big part of Lady Ish is making sure you handle what comes your way with as much sanity and grace as you can muster up at that time. Over the past few months a few setbacks have hit this podcast (censorship mannnn) and my personal life. My dad suddenly got sick and passed away in a crazy domino of circumstances shortly after, there were a million work things that came up, you know - real life stuff and things got rough. Earned my lady stripes hard over the past few months. In the midst of this madness I also fulfilled a lifelong dream of doing standup comedy in front of an audience for the first time ever in NYC. The exhilaration I felt from working on a body of material, fine tuning it and grilling up on the stage for 5 minutes of hilarious terror cannot even be explained. IT WAS INTIMIDATINGLY ORGASMIC. Comedy has long been a man's game and with femme juggernauts like Amy Schumer and Ali Wong swooping in to change prior perception, women are gaining a different footing in the mainstream. On this episode I chat it up with Vanessa Golembewski who is a NYC comedian and writer, living that freelancer life of starring in skits for Elite Daily, Refinery 29 + so so so much more. Her past has been filled with interesting gigs including scripting out comedy bits on the Harry Connick Jr. show, writing headlines for The Onion and a myriad of other impressively funny quests. Welcome to Lady Ish where I hone in on the good, bad, obscene and everything else in-between. Nothing is more fascinating than the lives of other people and with this podcast I try to dive into a diverse pool of stories to extract the lessons we all can learn from. On our first episode I speak about why I decided to start it, a candid discussion with Desi Sanchez who is a former musician and TV host, now turned full-time artist. Desi is an unconventional woman living in this crazy playground we call New York City.
