Able Servants Podcast

This is the first lesson in the series on Living in the Real, a Bible study on how believers in Christ should practice genuine Christianity.  This lessons challenges Christians to "Wake Up" from spiritual sleep to be an active servant of Christ and not a slave to the world and its vices!

The land of Canaan has been settled and the children of Israel can now enjoy the riches of God's Promises!  This is the final lesson in the series on Joshua and he is going to give one last address to the fledgling nation to challenging their hearts to live for God and to not allow the wicked people around them to influence them away from the Lord.  There are many parallels in this lesson for our own lives today that will help us remain faithful to Jesus Christ!

God is sovereign even when we don't understand some of His actions.  In Joshua 7, thirty-six Israelite soldiers lost their lives because of the sin of one man-Achan.  God allowed the whole nation to suffer because He found sin in the camp do to His covenant relationship with His chosen people.  Even Joshua was confused about God's actions in this case.  Listen as we walk through how God sometimes has to do the difficult thing in order to get His people to honor and obey Him.  As Christians, we are his chosen people and He wants us to reverence His name and keep His commandments as well.  Let's choose to please Him in our daily life pursuits and decisions thereby avoiding His correction and discipline!

What do you know about Joshua, the great leader of Israel?  This lesson is and introduction to a new series called "Victorious"  on the book of Joshua.  It is and exciting study.  No doubt, Joshua has some violent themes in it that critics of God's word use to cast doubts on the power and sovereignty of almighty God.  Yet there are answers for why God allowed war, death, and even annihilation of various people groups living in the land of Canaan at that time! 

In this lesson you will learn about the man, Joshua, and his conquering of the land promised to Israel from God himself.  Enjoy the journey!

We all want our lives to finish well.  Would the Lord be pleased at the Judgment Seat of Christ with your labor for Him here on earth?  In this final lesson on 2 Timothy, Paul challenges Timothy with a solemn charge to "Preach the Word."  He then gives a brief recount of his life that shows how faithful Paul truly was to his calling in Christ.  He says...

"I have fought a good fight."

"I have finished my course."

"I have kept the faith."

As you listen to the lesson, evaluate if you would be able to say that about your life if Christ met with you today.

Are you ready for the last days?  Every generation before us have believed that they were living in the last day and that Christ's return was imminent.  But our generation has good reason to believe this because we have more information about the signs of the times than any other previous generation.  As we speed to the final days, we can see the events rapidly occurring that display the characteristics of the end times described in the Bible.  This lesson is about many of those indicators Paul writes to Timothy regarding the Last Days!  How exciting to live in this time of the prophetic calendar of God. 

With Paul in Prison and ready to go to heaven, Paul writes his final book to Timothy, his young student in the faith who was the Pastor at the church in Ephesus.  Paul needed to encourage Timothy because of his fearfulness over losing Paul and possibly facing the same fate.  Listen as Paul encourages Timothy to remain strong in the Lord through difficult times from 2 Timothy 1.

This is the second lesson from Titus 2:1-10 on how to live a godly life.  It addresses the older men and women (above 65) from Titus 2:1-4 but is also relevant for all Christian men and women!

This is the second lesson on Titus 2 on the general principles for godly living as Christians of different ages.  Paul addresses first the older men and women and then covers the younger crowd (below 65 years of age we'll say).  It's practical information for all of us to follow as we seek to live a solid and faithful testimony for Christ in a world of corruption.

Just as Titus had to deal with false teachers of his day, the church in America has no shortage of these people in our culture. This lesson will give fair warning to who some of those false teachers are and expose some of what they believe!  

How do we live as Christians in such a twisted world?  Paul gives Titus guidance that we can apply today to live a righteous life in an unrighteous world.

What an exciting lesson as God breaks His silence with Job.  Notice how God gets Job's attention and teaches Job some serious lessons he needs to learn in order to capture Job's heart and humble his spirit!

This is Job's 4th friend who want to give him some advice.  Elihu was a young godly man who offered a powerful set of 4 speeches to Job-- some things were helpful to Job and helped realign his focus on God.  Some other points were off base and just repeated what the other 3 men said about Job's trial being a result of his sin and emphasized the righteousness of God but not so much the love and grace of God.  In the end, Elihu asked Job some hard questions which prepared Job to hear some very hard questions from God.

In his stinging rebuke, Zophar tries to destroy Job's arguments by attacking his character but Job remains resolute in his blameless life.   God has a few choice things to say about Job's three friends in chapter 42 that  sort of vindicates Job after all is said an done .

Do you think God treats everyone fairly?  What about justly?  What is the difference between the two?  God always does everything right (justly) but not everything God does fits with what we think is fair.  We must trust the Lord even when it seems life is not fair in some ways. God will always do right even though we may not like some of the circumstances.  Hopefully this lesson will help as Job battles this difficult trial!

Job is falsely accused by Eliphaz that his sin has caused his suffering.  Job responds to his friend by defending his integrity with the Lord! How do you deal with people when they falsely accuse you?  Here are the summary verses from Job's response to Eliphaz: Job 23:10-12...

Job 23:10  But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. 

Job 23:11  My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. 

Job 23:12  Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. 

This lesson starts the debates between Job and his 3 friends.  We will study them by individual person, not chronologically, so we will pair the three debates from each of his friends together one friend at a time.  This is Job's first debate with Eliphaz and will be continued in the next lesson!

After enduring the loss of his family and business, Satan attacks Job's body in a second round of deep suffering.  How would Job respond to this devastating ordeal?
