As your humble editor casts the requisite spells to prepare the third arc of Hel'mith, we will be filing the weeks with a few different kinds of episode. We'll be doing an Off Watch Chatter, our casual chats about how to run or enjoy TTRPGs, and we'll be doing a 'clip show' of our favorite moments from the podcast so far.

The thrilling conclusion of Arc 2! Sprinting across the gangway, having fought through the warehouse, the Greymates, ironbound to finish their journey, head into the inner sanctum of Councilor Willoughby, charging headlong into the deep unknown. Facio puts on the performance of his lifetime, Oggy confronts his shadow self, and Sir calls on all the aid she can muster from her Warren Gods.

Hello viewers at sea! This is just an update to let you know that NEXT week will be finale of the Restless Deep Saga--it's a behemoth in more ways than one... meaning an editing one too! Hel'mith / D&D / Combat

The Greymates follow their leads to where the tracks meet: a warehouse run by a suspicious commissioner by the name of Willoughby. They spend a surprising amount of time talking about how to proceed, before kicking the door in and proceeding with plan kick monster-butt. They find surprising guards, familiar foes, and fight their way through a tinderbox of a warehouse to track down their cursed sextant.

Editor's note: as long as it seems to take for the team to go through the front door, just remember, it was longer in real life. The hardest enemy in D&D may be doors.

Facio buoys the crew morale with shanties, Oggy leaps around the ship in dire circumstances, and Sir confronts a force they never thought they would.

Claire plays the New Ritual card in Dialect, and we develop the new ritual emerging among the crew as the restless deep begins to change our very senses. Facio, Sam and Oggy have a plan, and Sir stands at the bow, ears twitching.

We begin creating the language the Ferrier's use as they sail across their new world, starting with an Action: meaning we change an word from the first age to suit the second. 

Sir the Quarry struggles with negotiations, Oggy pulls out some surprising personal history, and Facio has a moment of truth.

This finishes this round of "Community Questions" in this second age of Dialect. Usually one doesn't do a round of those when you go the second age, but because we'd changed so much of our isolation, we had to. Next week, words begin to be formed and changed.

The Greyling sets sail, toward their invitation at the Moreas marshes. Our heroes experience the sea for the first time in many years... and other forces start to move around them. Roan and Facio get gifts, and meet Oggy--and then everyone sees an excellent play put on by the Bullwug younglings. What could go wrong!

Sir the Quarry names the ship, Facio gets hints of some gossip, and we meet a new player (Chuck Savoy) and his character... who's got nothing weird going on, at all.

This week, the denizens of Hel'mith finish their battle with the strange sea creatures which had stormed their beach. Facio Pacem slaps many a tentacle, Roan struggles to figure out what to do without her trusty Halberd, and Quinmarris makes an interesting discovery. And plans are laid for the coming Wreckoning day.... and Fog Leave...

And thus we end Dialect and begin to share narrative control with our dice. We're playing DnD 5e for now…. A normal morning on Hel'mith evolves into a crustacean horror as crabs, first small, then large, come swarming up the beaches of Hel'mith. Lightning round! Two words we wanted to make before leaving the game of Dialect. We created the words our community uses for resources and for wishing each other good luck. 

Sir and Lefty talk logistics, and we talk about moss on rocks (again, I know) for a really long time. What can I say, we really like mossy rocks. That's normal, okay?!

This episodes short because the next one is jam-action-packed with goodness. We're shifting over to rolling dice next week, to determine the fate of our little community on Hel'mith.

We make and meet our characters! Dialect provides us with prompts, and we put them in the world. Meet the precocious Facio Pacem, the hafling of many many muffins (and of generous muffin top); Quinmarris, the village crazy with many contraptions … and pulleys; Lefty, who brings people what they need, having been here longer than all; and Sir the Quarry (Roan), the austere electric Harengon who’s risen on her haunches to run the island, having left her borough long ago for a life of adventure on the sea. And last but not least, we find our name: Hel’mith, named by the souls stuck here at the edge of the world.

We continue our dialect session, building more details into the island we've made. We'll ask ourselves questions about our community and sketch out what life on the island is like. Hello and welcome to Lapropo! We play Dungeons & Dragons and Dialect (a game by Thorny Games). We play Dialect to create our worlds and stories collaboratively, from nothing creating our world and characters. We later use this world, its words and our character to play Dungeons and Dragons, collaboratively continuing our story. 

In this, our first ever recording, we create a location for our story's focus: an isolation. We brainstorm and find enthusiastic consent on what the place is, and its primary aspects. 

This is the first of a series of Dialect episodes, which will transition into Dungeons and Dragons episodes. Imagine this as a mega session 0.
