Episode #35 centers on an ever present debate in our society...what is “political correctness” and is it indicative of progress, or censorship. We tackle this looking at examples from this week in news and culture including a white female Kendrick Lamar fan’s use of the N-word juxtaposed with Stephen A Smith’s similar use of the word, Trump’s comments on ‘subhuman’ members of our society, and an exploration of black culture’s struggle to embrace queer identity. This conversation was then steered toward a recent public Munk Debate on political correctness featuring internet sensation Jordan Peterson, Michelle Goldberg, Michael Eric Dyson and Stephen Fry. Due to us running low on time our final 5 things centered on our content recommendations for the week, which if we’re being honest, were pretty far from PC.
