S5: E55 Our Husbands Don't Know
Have you been in conversation with other friends to only hear that all of your husbands don't help around the house? This has been a common theme amongst working mothers, especially in the last 15 months of being home during a pandemic. Not only have working mothers felt alone in managing the household, but they have also felt like there isn't anything they could do to receive the much-needed help from their husbands.  In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares the reasons that our husbands don't know that we need our help and what we can do to change that. Latika references the book, Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus book by Dr. John Gray, which is a relationship book explaining the difference between men and women and their various communication and emotional styles (just to name a few). In the book, Dr. Gray sheds light on how men communicate and what they need to communicate, compared to women, and vice versa. Latika also references the book of Genesis in the Bible, about Adam and Eve and the various roles they play. From these two references, Latika takes you on a journey of understanding that we have to do things differently to gain different results. And, the first thing we must do is go to God in prayer, asking for discernment, and speaking to our husbands about what we need from them. When we combine the two, we gain the results desired.  If you have been feeling alone in managing your home... If you have been feeling like no one else sees what needs to be done around the house... If you have tried to ask your husband for help but to no avail... This episode is for you.   Latika Vines is an Author, Entrepreneur, and Working Mom of 4. S5: E54 You Are Built for This
When I started this podcast, little did I know that the conversations were just what I needed. It encouraged me as I was encouraging working mothers from all over the world to balance life. I was reminded that as much as we think we can not do things, our God knows and believes the complete opposite. He chose you and I to be in the various roles we have and gave us the vision to do so. He gave us the Vision because He created us to do the work. If He didn't believe we could not handle the work, He would have never assigned it to us. He assigned us the role of wife, mother, employee, employer, friend, sister, advocate, educator, and so much more because He built us for the jobs! And, in the midst of those roles, we must trust Him!  We have to trust Him when it feels impossible to move forward.  We have to trust Him when we feel alone.  We have to trust Him when we are overwhelmed.  We have to trust Him when there is no way up (that our naked eye can see).  He gave us all the knowledge and wisdom and discernment to be in our roles, and He is asking you and I both to Trust Him!  Let this episode encourage you to trust God for what He built you to do as a woman, mother, wife, and everything in between.  Latika Vines is an Author, Entrepreneur, and Working Mom of 4. S5: E53 You Can Love & Care for Yourself
How have you been loving yourself?  How have you been caring for yourself?  As the world begins to open up, we now have more opportunities to love and care for our mental and physical bodies. We are able to go places that we weren't able to go in the height of the pandemic. In today's episode of The Latika Vines Show, Sharde Page shares her tips to how we as busy working mothers can focus on ourselves, by having a healthy life. She tells us:  Ask God for discernment letting Him know that you need to be physically healthy so that He can provide you with the support you need to do it.  Figure out what loving and caring for yourself looks like so you can break the cycle you are used to It is mandatory for us to take care of ourselves, and although we may have competing priorities, we must be our #1 priority. When we do not make ourselves our priority, diseases, weight gain, health problems, and mental health problems begin to set in. Sharde shares simple things you can do today to ensure that you are loving and caring for yourself.  Sharde is a licensed aesthetician and cosmetologist that's passionate about health, beauty, and wellness. Outside of being a beauty and wellness specialist, she is a wife and a mother of 6, and understands motherhood can be challenging at times.  Sometimes the stress within motherhood takes a toll on us and we forget to take care of ourselves. That's why she created an online support group through YouTube called The Mama Tribe. Mental Health Bonus: Gain the Peace to Get Through
In the last year, over 1.5 million working moms left their jobs due to the overwhelming responsibilities of being a mother, employee, and wife, all at the same time in the same space. But, leaving their jobs didn't decrease the overwhelm, it intensified.  As a working mom of 4 young girls, I could only imagine what some of the working moms around the world were going through, as I was having my own share of overwhelm and stress managing everything on my plate. But, what got me through those moments were the comforting words of Philippians 4:19 (NIV), "and my God will meet all your needs." From overcoming postpartum depression and going through a pandemic, I had to rely on the words of that scripture to gain the peace and understanding that I was not alone and that God was and continues to stand with me through it all. I just need to rest in Him.  In this bonus episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares why Philippians 4:19 can be your go-to scripture to help you overcome the overwhelm. Additionally, she explains why it's important to know that God will give you the peace you need and that He may just reveal to you how to receive the help you need.  Latika Vines is an Author, Entrepreneur, and Working Mom of 4. S4: E52 Trouble Don't Last Always [End of Season 4]
Working moms are working between 40 to 50 hours a week in their jobs, with an average of 11 hours a week in managing their homes and other responsibilities. The stress of being home, working, managing the kids' schedule and online/hybrid learning, husband, and everything else is overwhelming. But, it won't last forever.  The song, "Trouble Don't Last Always," by Rev. Timothy Wright is a reminder that this season we are in will not last forever; change is coming. The stress, overwhelm and burnout will not last forever. Be encouraged that when you are weak and when trouble gets the best of you, God's strength will carry you through.  Be encouraged as Latika prays with you and for you in this season.  Latika Vines is an Author, Entrepreneur, and Working Mom of 4. S4: E51 Create Your Happy
It's easy for us to get lost in the daily routine of being wife, mother, career driven woman, and everything else, but when we continue to neglect ourselves, bitterness, depression, resentment, and a host of other negative emotions creep into our mind. And, we aren't able to give the energy we desire to give to our family, because of our unhappiness.  In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares three (3) ways you can create your own happy, immediately, by shifting your main priority to yourself. It doesn't mean that you are being selfish, what it does mean is that you love yourself so much that you need to fill yourself back up, before you can pour into others (e.g. family, work, community, etc...). Just when you have been given directions from the captain of a falling plane to give yourself oxygen before you give it to your children, the same rule applies to your everyday life. You must give yourself the energy and oxygen to be able to thrive, so that you can navigate how to thrive with your family and on your job.  To create your happy, you must:  Establish and dedicate a morning routine where you can spend time with yourself  Commit to move your body  Create a space that you can retreat to  Please remember, your happy is going to be what fits your personality and space, but it's essential for you to establish it so you don't forget about yourself. And, once you have created it, you can begin to embrace it.  Latika Vines is an Author, Entrepreneur, and Working Mom of 4. As the Founder and Boss Mom Coach of Visionary Initiatives, she has made it her mission to help working moms build opportunities for their success by redefining how they manage their life, career and/or business. S4: E50 4 Things I Do to Get Through Stress & Overwhelm
As working mothers, we are not new to overwhelm and stress. We experience a level of stress daily, which causes us to be overwhelmed and physically and emotionally tired. Would you agree? Especially during a pandemic there is a lack of time and mental capacity to work from home, assist our children with virtual learning and/or homeschooling, manage our homes, nurture our relationships, and the list goes on. But, that doesn't have to be the end of our story. We can come out of this pandemic more organized and intentional with reduced stress.  In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares her system in getting through stress and overwhelm. Latika is a working mom of 4 young girls, where she is assisting 2 of her children with virtual learning and homeschooling the 2 youngest, while working from home, nurturing her relationship with her husband, and a host of other responsibilities. In order for her to complete all that she has on her place, without feeling overwhelmed or with high stress, she shares the 4 things she does to get through. Not only will she share what she does, but she will share the resources she uses to manage her stress and a lot of times tackle it before it becomes stressful.  The 4 Things Latika Does to Get Through Stress & Overwhelm include:  Putting Goals and Priorities Down - Latika uses the Project Management Tool, Trello  Break Down Goals Quarterly  Have a Weekly Productivity Hour  Have a Morning Routine to Yourself  With each step, Latika shares what specifically she does and how it has helped her combat and manage stress and overwhelm. S4: E49 Release Your Mental Load
How many of us have a hard time balancing life and work, but still have a smile on our face? How many of us struggle with implementing self-care, but we feel fine? So many of us are carrying the mental load of doing everything for work, our family, and our homes alone. We are trying to keep it all together, but deep inside we struggling. And, this has been one (not the top) of the reasons so many working moms have left the workforce in the last year (March 2020 to February 2021) - we are doing too much by ourselves. It is time for us to release the mental load we are carrying to others. We can not be our best selves, if we aren't able to release some of our responsibilities to others, so we can free up mental space for us.  In today's episode, our guest Suzanne Brown, shares her personal experience implementing work and life balance. And, when other working moms saw how she was able to implement it, with ease, they wanted her secrets. So, she wrote two books to help working moms, the Mompowerment  Guide for Part-time and Full-time working moms. Both books empower working moms to create the work-life balance they crave. Today, Suzanne shares that it is essential for us to release the mental load, or at least share it with our husband (or support system). It includes:  Identifying what you care about and why it matters, and making it your priority Identifying what you can control and manage and let go (release) the rest Understand that our self-worth is  not tied to what we can not control  The conversation with Suzanne was encouraging, inspirational, and valuable and one that should be shared with your sister-moms, girlfriends, and colleagues.  About Suzanne Brown: Suzanne Brown empowers companies to become more balance-friendly and professional working moms to create the work-life balance they crave. She is a TED speaker and has been featured in major publications such as TIME, Forbes, Working Mother, Reader’s Digest, Shape, and Prevention. S4: E44 Take the Masks Off
It has officially been one year that we have been at home, working full time while teaching our children virtually, managing our homes, spending time with family member via zoom, and everything else on our plate. And, when we have been asked the question, "how are you?" our response is, "all is well!" When really, everything is not well. We are stressed, overwhelmed, tired, lack energy, lack patience, and the list continues to go on. We wear a mask when we talk and see others, but in reality, we are drowning.  In today's episode of The Latika Vines Show, our guest, Kadine Cooper, shares her personal experience in wearing a mask and how she was able to take it off. She shares how working moms can take the mask off with three strategies:  Define your Mask Identify the Reason You Are Wearing a Mask Ways You Can Take the Mask Off One notable mention Kadine shared was that Some Will. Some Won't. So What. We can not continue to do or care what others want, when we are suffering on the inside. We have to do what will make us fulfilled, successful, and happy.  Kadine Cooper is a Career Transition Coach, Job Search Advisor, Networking Strategist and Speaker. S4: E43 Who Is Your Support?
As working moms, we do so much for everyone else; but, who supports you when you are having a bad day? Who is praying for you when you feel like your world is crashing in? Who do you lean on when you need a sounding board on a rough day? Regardless if we are in a pandemic or not, we need a 24/7 support system. These would be individuals we can lean on when we need them the most. And, these individuals can support you in various ways, at various times; but it is necessary to have a support system as a working mom.  In today's episode of The Latika Vines, our guest Shaundrelle Green shares her personal story of why she needed a support system; and she takes apart the words S.U.P.P.O.R.T. S.Y.S.T.E.M. to show us what it is, why we need it, and how to obtain a support system, even when you feel like you don't have anyone you can lean on. She show us:  A Support System gives us strength in our weaknesses and challenges and takes our life back  We need a Support System because we are not created to do all things; having a support system keeps us balanced If you don't have anyone to support you, build your support system through God, and He will help you The tips and inspiration that Shaundrelle shares in today's episode are noteworthy and applicable in our everyday motherhood journey.  Shaundrelle Green is the Founding and Managing Director of Sisters Healing & Evolving (SHE) Inc. We can use the above to work within our capacity. S4: E41 We Are Burned Out!
Burn out is defined as a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands (or "all the things."). Have you been experiencing this? Have you been burned out? According to my research, speaking with other moms, and going through life myself, working mothers have been experiencing burn out throughout our entire motherhood journey, but most significantly, during the last year. Due to the pandemic, we have been working from home, while running our side businesses, being teacher, nurse, lunch lady, counselor, and friend to our children, managing our homes, managing our relationships, and so much more. We have had an increase of demands on our life - which is good enough reason for us to be burned out. But, how do we know we are burned out and how can you overcome?  In today's episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika outlines the top side effects many working moms are experiencing such as:  Exhaustion  Lack of Motivation Frustration or Negative Just to name a few!  Once we have identified what side effects of burn out we are experiencing, we have to identify how to overcome it or receive our breakthrough. Latika shares 5 tips to help you overcome:  Work out (exercise) Connect with other Working Moms Set a Schedule & Stick to It Use the 30-30-30-30 Rule Don't cram everything into one day Following these tips will give you the motivation to overcome the burn out you have been experiencing. S4: E40 Losing Your Identity
How have you been feeling? Do you feel like you are alone? Do you feel like there are pieces in your life that are missing and you can't put your finger on what it is? Just a few months ago, I realized that I was in this space. I just didn't know what was going on with me. I would look in the mirror and realize I didn't know who this person was, that was looking back at me. Of course, I know my name, but I started asking myself, "why am I here? what is my purpose? what makes me happy?" With us being home constantly, doing the same things constantly, I have realized (and I have heard from other moms) that we don't know ourselves or what makes us happy (pre or post children). So, I went to prayer, meditation, worship, reading, and researching to figure who I am and how I can help myself. In today's episode of The Latika Vines Show, I will share the four steps that I took to reclaim who Latika is and live life the way I desire and being happy as I grow in my career.  The 4 Steps to Discover Your Identity are:  Spend Quality Time with God  Write in your Journal Surround Yourself with Those Who Give You a Sound Mind Create a Vision Board based on your Happiness Using the four steps above can help you to transition from feeling like you are losing your identity to discovering who you are and being happy with your decisions. Remember, our happiness matters and our happiness should be our priority. With a few tweaks in our daily habits, we can be happy again; we can smile again; we can regain confidence in who we are again!  Books mentioned in the episode:  What Happens When a Woman Says Yes to God on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/What-Happens-When-Women-Extraordinary/dp/0736919228  Inside Out and Upside Down on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Inside-Out-Upside-Down-Everything/dp/1732337624/ref=sr_1_7?crid=3VUJI4H2BPVAR&dchild=1&keywords=jennifer+hayes&qid=1613063575&s=books&sprefix=jennifer+hayes%2Cstripbooks%2C178&sr=1-7 Let's Run: Running the Race with Faith and Perseverance on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Lets-Run-Running-Faith-Perseverance/dp/1732337608/ref=pd_sbs_3?pd_rd_w=f98Fi&pf_rd_p=c52600a3-624a-4791-b4c4-3b112e19fbbc&pf_rd_r=HZY3R3702QC6N9A834KB&pd_rd_r=8e796bf9-049f-4b83-93cc-2f3feadb79cb&pd_rd_wg=iayvQ&pd_rd_i=1732337608&psc=1 To learn more about the 12 week coaching program for working moms, please visit: www.visionary-initiatives.com. S3: E39 Get Uncomfortable to Achieve What You Want [End of Season 3]
When we were little girls, we had big dreams. We had dreams of going far and high. Whether that dream was a big house with a wrap around porch and picket fence, or to become a lawyer, we all had dreams. And, as a little girls, those dreams seemed so big. But, what about today? What are those big dreams that you could feel and see as if it were happening right now?  In today's episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares the importance of getting back to those dreams. Too many of us have fallen back to living an ordinary life, but are not happy with the ordinary life we are living. Don't you believe it's time for us to do bigger and bigger things - to live an extraordinary life?  Steve Harvey says, "if you have extraordinary aspirations, than you have to do extra." This means that in order for us to live out those extraordinary dreams, we have to get out of our comfort zone - we have to be extra. And, we have to do it now! We can not continue to live in our comfort zones or bubbles looking at extraordinary goals but not accomplish them.  Latika shares four (4) ways you can get uncomfortable to achieve what you want:  Have clarity on what you want Create a plan to do it Get an Accountability partner Create a new habit of motivation  To learn how to create new habits, order your copy of James Clear's, Atomic Habits on amazon HERE. To listen to additional tips on not to stay in your comfort zone, watch Latika's Career Development Training videos HERE. To purchase your digital copy of Latika's resources, check them out HERE. S3: E38 Tear Down Those Walls
Are you allowing the walls in your life to keep you enclosed? According to the Dictionary, a wall is defined as a brick or stone structure enclosing an area. In our lives, what walls are keeping us enclosed or away from our career and life goals? What walls are preventing us from being great. In today's episode of The Latika Vines Show, we are identifying the walls keeping you enclosed and how to tear them down. When we keep our self-imposed or people-imposed walls standing (or up) it prevents us from being great; it prevents us from being happy; we remain overwhelmed with life, confused, and have lost hope in our self-identification. So it is vital for us to tear them down. Join today's conversation to be encouraged and challenged to tear down your walls, so you can lead and live the life you want. S2: E22 Treasure Your Reality
We started the year knowing that it was going to be phenomenal. We were so excited for what 2020, the year of Perfect Vision, was going to mean for us and our family. And, then COVID hit us and put a halt on a lot of our dreams for the year. Now, our reality isn't as what we pictured 2020 to be. BUT, that doesn't mean we can't embrace our current reality.  In today's episode, Latika talks to you about embracing your reality even in the midst of a pandemic. For years, many of us have fought the mom guilt of not spending quality time with our children; or not having enough time to nurture the relationship with our husbands. But, now that we are at home, we have more time than ever to treasure our reality. We have more time to teach our children lessons and be creative in having fun with them. We have more time to spend with our husbands and prioritize self-care. Below are some questions to ask yourself:  How am I using my time to have fun with my kids? How am I embracing my marriage?  How am I using the extra time I have to take care of myself? It is no doubt that we are in a middle of a global crisis, but think about this: God has allowed ALL families to be together during this time. What better way to honor Him and His blessings by treasuring the time we have together (that we won't have again) and truly spending quality time together. What will be your Tabitha moment? S2: E21 Overcome the Overwhelm
One of the things that many working moms are struggling with is overwhelm. It is the one thing that many of us can't get away from, because we have so much on our plate from cleaning the house, doing the laundry, going to the grocery store to ensure we have food in the house, spending time with our husbands, and the list continues...in a 24 hour day, there isn't enough time or enough of you to do everything. And, it can be overwhelming.  In today's episode, Latika shares three ways you can overcome the overwhelm. She shares: First 15 Matters - the first 15 minutes of your day set your day up for success Gain Support - working moms must have emotional, physical, and spiritual support to be successful  Do Less - we must be able to create a SYSTEM that allows us to save stress, time, energy, and money What will be your Tabitha moment? Tabitha is a woman in the Bible who was very meek and did everything for everyone, just like working moms. But, one day she died. Have you become like Tabitha and been emotionally week, physically week, or spiritually sick? Because of Tabitha's good works, she was raised back to life and continued to serve people, but now she has renewed strength. How will you use the information in this episode to ensure you can overcome the overwhelm? How will you use the information in today's episode to regain emotional, physical, and spiritual strength? May you experience a Tabitha moment and regain what you need to continue to pour into others. Thank you for listening to another episode of the Latika Vines Show. S2: E20 Know Your Numbers
Do you know how much money you are spending to pay bills? Or do you know how much money you are saving being at home during COVID-19? Do you know your numbers? It is important that we approach planning and knowing our finances in a new way.  Allison "Allie" Greenberg, a Financial Advisor/Representative, shares her expertise in helping families achieve their financial goals. She believes that anything is possible with the right planning. It is important to know the following:  your numbers (know how much you spend on bills, etc...) savings is your power (save for potential furloughs, job loss, emergencies, etc...) invest and don't be your own stock broker plan your finances when your children are infants Allie's main giveaway to all working moms is, "You have to know where you are spending your money, so you know where you are going." Have you ignored those phone calls and/or text messages?  Christina Perez shares great insight as to why it is vital for us to pay attention to those notices, make our appointments, and be an advocate for our own health. In today's episode, Christina emphasizes on the need for working moms to make our health our priority. She shares that one of the first steps in prioritizing our health is having a doctor that we can trust and have a relationship with. Additionally, she expounds on the fact that our well exams are covered by insurance, so there should be no excuse as to why we should not go to our appointments.  Christina also gives insight on why we should have a primary and OBGYN doctor. She left us with three main points: 1) go to your appointments (make them and stick with them); 2) go to your follow-up appointments (regardless if they are scary or not); and 3) put your appointments in your phone (so you can keep track of them and be reminded of them).  We are paying for health insurance and we need to take advantage of it! S1 E3: What is your Work & Life Balance?
In today's episode, Latika asks what balance looks like for you. With balance being defined as an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright or steady; Latika equates work and life balance for working moms to a juggler. Latika describes how a juggler must juggle three or more things in their hand to entertain the audience. Just like a juggler, working moms have to juggle motherhood, marriage, and career, oh and themselves. And, sometimes it may feel like it will fall apart. Without balance, working moms will experience stress, burnout, frustration, and so many other negative things, which affects family life, their own health, job satisfaction, cluttered mind, and the list goes on.  Latika shares the first step to having work and life balance, which is having the Boss Mom Foundation. The foundation that is needed to achieve the balance a working mom needs to have a satisfying marriage, great motherhood experience, and rewarding career; the foundation she created and used after she was diagnosed with Post Partum Depression. Latika discusses her e-book, Boss Moms Can Have it All, where she shares what the foundation consists of, which are the three pillars of success: Being Self-Aware Performing Smart Work Being Strategic Using the three pillars of success in the Boss Mom foundation can help working moms take the first step in getting started with achieving work and life balance. Latika shares tips from the e-book and encourages you to utilize the e-book as a guide for your own work and life balance.  Get your FREE copy of the e-book, Boss Moms Can Have it All - The Boss Mom Foundation to Create Balance in your Life so it Doesn't All Fall Apart.  Click HERE to get your copy!  Thank you for listening to today's episode of the Latika Vines Show. S1 E2: What is Your Anchor?
In today's episode, Latika asks the question: What is your anchor? For so many of us, our life is like a boat - a cruise ship. We have so much that is piled on and in us, that sometimes it could cause us to sink or sway in the water. But, when we have our boat anchored to a strong foundation, we rise and stay afloat. Today, Latika encourages you to develop your anchor, which is your relationship with God. You must have a strong relationship with God, the one who knows the number of hairs on your head, the one that created you in His own image. He is the only one who can keep you afloat when the obstacles of life attempt to knock you down. She shares three valuable things:  What your anchor should consist of How to develop it How to use it In order for you to lead and grow your career and live a balanced lifestyle, you must have a strong foundation - anchor, which is your relationship with God.
