S10 E177: Being Called to More [End of Season 10]

S10 E177: Being Called to More [End of Season 10]

In the previous episode, it was encouraged to conduct an internal evaluation of how you show up in your career as a working mom; and Proverbs 31:11-17 was the foundational scripture used to conduct the evaluation. But, the question remains, "How are you showing up in your career as a working mom?"

In this episode, Latika provides three questions that a working mom should ask herself to assess her presence in her career.

  1. Are you showing up in your career aggressively, assertively, or passively?
  2. Who in your village is supporting your career presence?
  3. How are you growing in your career?

Latika encourages working moms to ask the above questions to ensure they are experiencing the abundance God desires for them, as mentioned in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NIV.

About Latika: Latika empowers working moms to get back to their Career Visions so they can feel fulfilled and live life abundantly by taking the initiative in having God bridge the gap between their balance and careers. S10 E176: You Got This!

S10 E176: You Got This!

Do you read Proverbs 31 as a checklist or guide? Do you read it as a comparison or resource? Does it empower you or drain you?

In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika reviews Proverbs 31:11-17. In this passage, King Lemuel describes the characteristics of a virtuous woman and Godly wife, a vital lesson his mother taught him. The reading of this passage is not intended to be a checklist, rather a guide to help working moms become the woman God created you to be, as you serve and build God’s kingdom.

Questions to Ask Yourself:

  • Are you trustworthy at work? Do you keep your word? Are you committed to doing the work?
  • Are you settling or quiet quitting? Are you doing your best at work? Even if you are not in your Career Vision, are you striving to get there in 2024?
  • Are you procrastinating?
  • Are you taking care of business in the office? Are you completing tasks on time? Are you communicating effectively?
  • Are you striving to be excellent in your Career Vision? Do you go beyond the call of duty or do you perform at the bare minimal?

Reading Proverbs 31:11-17 was a reminder to tell you that you are a virtuous woman and Godly wife, and to remind you that you continue to get better every day, and every year. Even if some of the responses to the above questions were not favorable, you have the knowledge to do better - when you know better, you do better!

You have what it takes to be the career driven woman that God called you to be - you have the characteristics and strength because God gave it to you, it’s innate. But, sometimes you have to be reminded that its there. So, view today's episode as your reminder that you got this!

S10 E170: Gather the Pieces

S10 E170: Gather the Pieces

Have you been overwhelmed with the lack of growth in your career? Do you feel stuck in your position, not knowing how to move forward? Have you been struggling with finding the perfect position?
In this season of transition, God is opening His arms to you, inviting you to be in His presence. You will find that when you are in His presence, allowing Him to be your focal point, He will ensure you are receiving growth, promotion, and recognition when you align with His will for your career.
In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares why working moms should gather their careers and workpieces and be in alignment with God's vision for their careers. In John 6:12 NIV it says, "when they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, 'gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.' " Jesus is telling us to gather all of our career/workpieces - experience, talents, ideas, energy, and time and give them to God. When God is the focal point of your career, He will gather the pieces, not waste any of them, and align your steps to the destiny He created for you.

S10 E165: I'm Leaving at 3, if Not Earlier

Working Moms shouldn't, but they are often forced to choose between their families or careers. And, towards the end of the workday, they have to choose between leaving on time to get ahead of the traffic to pick up their children from school. This becomes a disadvantage for working moms as they attempt to balance both work and family.

Have you ever heard of the 3 p.m. disadvantage? In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika defines the 3 p.m. disadvantage that many working moms experience; while sharing various ways they can view the disadvantage as a blessing - a blessing to identify what they need to decrease their anxiety and truly integrate their work and family into one life.

Get Productive is a course for working moms teaching them to manage their time and energy more effectively, so they can take back control. Learn more HERE.

S10 E164: People Pleasing Does Not Look Good on You

S10 E164: People Pleasing Does Not Look Good on You

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, people pleasing is defined as "someone who cares a lot about whether people like him or her and always wants others to approve his or her actions." (Cambridge Dictionary, 2023) Have you found yourself caring more about someone else's view of you, rather than your own? Have you found yourself caring more for a person, more than you care for yourself?

People pleasing can stem from childhood trauma or any other trauma in your life, but the effects of it can be hard to overcome. In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares how people pleasing can stem from neglect and abandonment, or any other trauma you experienced in the past. And, she identifies five (5) ways you can overcome and stop people pleasing, so you can find your inner worth and value because it doesn't look good on you. 1.       Remind yourself what God promised you

2.       Be true to yourself, stop trying to fit in

3.       Have healthy boundaries, with yourself and others

4.       Spend time alone, with God

5.       Understand that you can’t please anyone but yourself

S10 E162: Taking Care of Self

S10 E162: Taking Care of Self

How do you take care of yourself when you have so many priorities to juggle? How do you prioritize yourself in the mix?

In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, our guest Chari Twitty-Hawkings shares 5 tips to help working moms overcome burnout and being overwhelmed with self-care. Her tips include:

  1. Admit that you are burned out
  2. Ask yourself, "what am I going to do to take care of me?"
  3. Don't feel bad for being/feeling burned out
  4. Make yourself a priority
  5. Show yourself grace

You may have heard these tips before, but Chari shares her personal story of how she has included the above 5 tips into her daily life. Her tips are for every working mom (and dad) who has those good and bad days of too much to juggle and knows they have to keep going. But, they know that they have to take the moments to take care of themselves even in the midst of juggling it all. As you listen to the episode, take mental notes and implement the tips Chari provides.

About Chari: Chari is a dedicated advocate for moms of faith, guiding them on a transformative journey through speaking and coaching to overcome burnout and overwhelm while prioritizing self-care, self-awareness, and self-compassion. With a heart firmly rooted in her Christian faith, Chari draws upon her real-life experiences as a mother of twins, a busy 9-year-old, a devoted wife, and a thriving mompreneur to illuminate the path towards renewed vitality and purpose. Chari's intimate understanding of the challenges that women face is the driving force behind her mission. She recognizes the tendency to put others first and neglect one's own needs, often leading to a cycle of exhaustion, frustration, and a sense of insignificance. Her journey as a wife, a nurturer of her children, and a purpose-driven entrepreneur has fueled her determination to help others reclaim their identities and establish balance.

S9 E160: Your Foundation as a Working Mom [End of Season 9]

As a working mom, your Foundation for a Satisfying Marriage, Great Motherhood Experience, and Rewarding Career must be strong. Compare it to a juggler or entertainer who is juggling 3 balls; they must have his/her feet grounded on the ground and their core must be strong to balance the 3 balls. Likewise, working moms are jugglers. They must juggle 3 balls (Marriage, Motherhood, and their Career) all at the same time. It may look impossible to juggle it all, but when you have your feet planted firmly to the ground and a strong core, it is possible to have it all without it falling apart.

In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares how you can access the BOSS Mom Foundation that has helped her and her clients gain the strength (and character-building experience) to have a Satisfying Marriage, Great Motherhood Experience, and Rewarding Career. To learn about her BOSS MOM Foundation, get your copy of her book, Working Moms Can Balance Work & Life: A Working Mom's Quick Guide to Balance Work & Life HERE.

Join Us at the EWM Breakfast - We are 4 Weeks Away!

Have you gotten your ticket to the 2nd Annual Empowering the Working Mom Breakfast? Purchase your ticket at www.empoweringtheworkingmom.com

The annual Empowerment Breakfast is an empowering experience for working moms giving them the support and resources to get back to their God-given life and career dreams. It is an opportunity for working moms to be empowered to pursue their Career Vision; energized to implement Work & Life Balance; and to be equipped to become the Woman God has called them to be. This three-fold approach is the foundation we believe every working mom should have to gain the fulfillment God desires for them, as a daughter of God, woman, wife, mother, employee, employer, and beyond.

As a working mom, you have struggled with the idea of being selfish for desiring to pursue your career goals. You wanted more in your life, but due to a growing family, your dreams have faded to ensure that others have what they needed. It isn't until you hit a moment in your life, that you realize that you are not fulfilled and not happy with where you are in your own life (separate from your family).  Remember, the role of being a mother is only one of the passions, talents, and desires God filled inside of you. There is so much more! And that is why the EWM Breakfast was created – to support and provide working moms with the resources to unlock their God-given dreams; and give them the keys to realize the necessity to get back to the multi-passionate life and career God gave them so they can:

1.     Regain her strength;
2.    Regain her confidence;
3.    Recommit to herself; and
4.    Be unapologetic about her needs, wants, and desires.

30 Days Until the EWM Annual Breakfast

30 Days Until the EWM Annual Breakfast

We are officially 30 days away from the 2nd Annual Empowering the Working Mom Breakfast.

What is the EWM Annual Breakfast? Working moms struggle with the idea of pursuing their career goals. They often fight the daily battle of feeling selfish for thinking of living a fulfilled life as their family grows and the demands of life become greater. Thus, their dreams begin to fade and they forget the Vision God gave them. And that is why the EWM Breakfast was created – to support and provide working moms with the resources to unlock their God-given dreams; and give them the keys to realize the necessity to get back to the multi-passionate life and career God gave them, so they can:

1.Regain her strength; 2.Regain her confidence; 3.Recommit to herself; and 4.Be unapologetic about her needs, wants, and desires.

Our dynamic Keynote Speaker, Work & Life Balance Facilitator, and Mom Conversation will energize, equip, and empower working moms to live up to this year's theme, RISE UP: Leading Yourself to your Next Level.

The EWM Breakfast is a continued celebration of Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day honors mothers' sacrifices for their children and their families. But it is often overlooked how much mothers neglect their physical, emotional, and spiritual strength and how they have allowed their dreams to fade. We hold the EWM Breakfast to follow Mother’s Day reminding working mothers of how special they are and giving them time to renew their physical, emotional, and spiritual strength.

S9 E155: Thrive as a Working Mom with Support

S9 E155: Thrive as a Working Mom with Support

The word necessity has various meanings. But, what if that meaning included yourself being a necessity of your life? What if that meaning included yourself as being able to thrive? And as the necessity of your life, it is recommended to have the support to help you survive and thrive. That support can include therapy. Working with a therapist or counselor gives you an opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior. It can also help you learn new coping skills and techniques to better manage daily stressors.

In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, our guest Dr. Candace Mukendi, LGPC shares her definition of necessity and why the support of therapy is important for us to thrive. She gives tips on why the support of therapy is necessary and how you can search for one in your local area.

Below are a few of Dr. Candace's reasons therapy is necessary for working moms:
  • you are able to understand how your brain works
  • you have the space to feel heard and not judged
  • you have the space to talk about your deep thoughts
  • you gain the resources to establish boundaries
  • you are able to increase confidence in your communication skills, and much more

Work & Life Balance Tip: Gain the space to be vulnerable and honest with yourself

Dr. Candace Mukendi is a working mom of two daughters and a wife. She is the owner of Be Well Resource Group, LLC. She is a mental health clinician and occupational health psychology practitioner. Candace received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her master's degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from LaSalle University, and her PhD in Business Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Washington, DC. S9 E154: Be Unshakeable, Unmovable

S9 E154: Be Unshakeable, Unmovable

As you embark on the journey of becoming the woman God has designed you to be, it's necessary for you to be unshakeable and unmovable in your life, career, marriage, and faith. It's necessary for you to listen and heed the wisdom from God to stand firm. Do you agree?

In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Latika shares her intimate process of being unshakeable and unmovable - not being passive or dim-wit. While reading Proverbs 7:21-23, Latika read how a father was giving his son wisdom to not be passive or dim-witted for the full price for sin is his life. This scripture encouraged Latika to stop allowing others to control her mindset or allow things to happen because she doesn't want to deal with it. She learned that she can no longer allow herself to be simple. It's time for her to be unshakeable and unmovable so she can show up as the best wife, mother, employee, employer, friend, sister, daughter, niece, aunt, and community member. Likewise, she desires to share with you how to do the same.

To be unshakeable and unmovable, you must be spiritually grounded in the following:

  1. Know what you believe
  2. Don't be easily persuaded
  3. Be unable to change

The above will involve evaluating who you in a relationship with; what you are listening to; where you get your counsel from; and what you are watching so that you can be firm and grounded in becoming who God wants you to be.  This is the episode you need to remind yourself to not be passive any longer in your life, career, marriage, and faith. This is the episode you need to remind yourself to not be simple in your thinking, speech, or doing.

S9 E153: Choosing Yourself First

S9 E153: Choosing Yourself First

Every working mother is a necessity in her own life. But, to each one, the word necessity has a different definition. It could include being the contributor to the household and also what she identifies as. What about you? How do you define yourself as being a necessity in your own life?

In this episode of The Latika Vines Show, Megan Bozzuto shares what necessity means to her and how she is able to choose herself first. She shares personal stories that equipped her to be the necessity of her life, while also sharing the obstacles she had to overcome. To choose yourself first, Megan explained three ways to do so:

  1. Determine that you come first
  2. Identify what you need
  3. Determine how you want to feel

Megan shared that being the necessity in her own life is an ongoing journey, but something she realized when she felt like a "piece of her was missing." It was then that she had to choose herself first although guilt and the opinions of others challenged her. Listen to her amazing story of navigating through it all.

Work & Life Balance Tip: To be the necessity in your life, you have to be honest with who you are (your identity) and what you need.
