With three studio albums on his list of accomplishments, neo-soul artist and bestselling author Marcel Anderson brings soul, jazz, and inspirational gospel to make music that puts listeners in another atmosphere. A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Marcel’s musical roots began at an early age. He was raised among a powerhouse of musicians and singers, which is where he discovered one of the many passions God placed in him, which was singing. His singing began to develop after his mother, who knew he could sing, told the church choir director about his musical gift. When he was eight years old, Marcel, who was a shy kid when it came to singing in front of people, was given his first solo, “Give Us This Day” at the first rehearsal he attended. Ever since, he has been singing non-stop and encouraging and inspiring others through his melodious vocals.

For over 10 years, Marisha has worked with children and families, veterans, adolescents, persons experiencing homelessness, and the geriatric population in various settings and environments. Mental Health and Black Culture/with guest Marisha Mathis
Hi Miracles! This week's episode is all about the stigmas and barriers as it relates to the Black community and mental health. We know that mental health affects the Black community in unique ways, often making it challenging for individuals to discuss the issues they are facing and seek the treatment they need. A recent study found that 63% of Black people view a perceived mental health condition as a sign of personal weakness. The cultural stigma around mental health results in people bottling up their emotions and refusing to speak freely, even to friends or family, fearful of how they will be perceived. And we will discuss this and more with my special guest host Marisha Mathis!
Marisha is a purpose-driven creative. She has found comfort and enjoyment in writing since childhood. She began writing poetry in middle school and continued into her adult years. She became a spoken word artist while attending college and began sharing her poetry publicly in 2010. Her first book of poetry and devotionals, Beauty for Ashes, was published in 2016.
An alumnus of North Carolina Central University, her educational background, observation, life experiences, and field experiences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker have been the backdrop for writing. She has worked with various populations including children, families, veterans, and the elderly. Anxiety from a Christian Perspective!
Hi Miracles! This weeks episode is tackling anxiety! Anxiety is a battlefield of the mind, a fierce struggle to fight against the thoughts that overwhelm us. When anxiety arises, it can feel as if we are left defenseless in this battle. But, did you know that the Bible actually speaks on anxiety? And, even shares with us some very descriptive ways in how to handle it? That being said, anxiety can be seen as emotionally and physically driven. But also spiritual. Healing The Inner Child: with A. Ruth Proctor
Hi Miracles, and welcome to another inspiring episode of The Miracles Podcast! This week I am discussing Healing the Inner Child, with the amazing author of "I Survived, You Can Too!", A. Ruth Proctor (click here to purchase her book).
The idea of an inner child has been around for decades. “The general idea is that we all have a childlike aspect within our unconscious mind... that can take over when we are faced with a challenge.” The childlike side is the one that still holds onto all those beliefs and coping mechanisms we may have learned as a kid — the part of us that nodded along as an adult told us “maybe math just isn’t your thing” or the part of us that may have learned to hide emotions like fear or sadness.
Healing your inner child, then, focuses on uncovering and releasing the causes for the childlike aspects of your personality, so you can react to challenges in your adult life as an adult, rather than a child. If you, would like to more about topic, this episode is for you!

Love Bonds
Hi Miracles, and welcome to another inspiring episode of The Miracles Podcast! This week I am discussing Love Bonds.
Love bonds, are very important to the health of a human being. One of the first love bonds, that we are to experience is the one with our parents. But, naturally that may not always be the case. But we can thank God, for always being close to us and showing us what true love is. Because, He is love. I am also reminded of the bond between David and Johnathan. It says in the book of Samuel that they were so close, that their souls were connected. In their relationship we can see qualities of true friendship. First, they sacrificed for one another. In 1 Samuel 18:4, we read that Jonathan gave David his clothes and military garb. The significance of this gift was that Jonathan recognized that David would one day be king of Israel. Rather than being envious or jealous, Jonathan submitted to God’s will and sacrificed his own right to the throne. These are the kind of relationships, that are treasured. And in this episode, I give you tips to help you meet this goals.

Trauma Bonds?
Hi Miracles, and welcome to another inspiring episode of The Miracles Podcast! This week I am discussing Trauma Bonds.
A trauma bond forms through intermittent displays of positive and negative attention. It’s confusing and it results in cognitive dissonance for the person on the receiving end of the dynamic. The victim stays in an attempt to reach that elusive positive point. That reconciliatory fix can be affection, validation, or a temporary sense of security.
The formation of a trauma bond tends to be a gradual process. It’s typically characterized by a period of passionate declarations of love and showering of affections. This is the love bombing stage. The flood of positive attention establishes grounds for the abuser’s manipulation. It tends to be shortly followed by the emergence of toxic behavior such as gaslighting, verbal abuse, or controlling. Because sometimes if we think about it, a lot of us try to take control of things without even realizing it. So often I see people trying to get God to stamp His seal of approval on their plans, trying to push ahead and implement their plans and goals and dreams instead of letting God lead. Yes, dreams and goals and even plans are a good thing, but not when we are trying to force God into bending to our will. A long time ago, people even thought that their emotions came from their hearts, maybe because the heart beats faster when a person is scared or excited.
For many years I would read Proverbs 4:23 but had no clue as to what it meant. I mean really guard my heart? The organ that pumps blood in my body which reaches every fiber of my being…yeah that’s right. The physical interpretation of the heart goes deep.
