Dr. Kate Ricciardi: Integrative Nutrition Specialist

Dr. Kate Ricciardi: Integrative Nutrition Specialist

After years of struggling with her own chronic health conditions, Dr. Kate Ricciardi knew something had to change. Through her own health journey and being told "there's nothing we can do" "everything looks normal," "you're just busy, stressed, and tired," she knew there had to be more.  Sick of the cookie cutter, generalized recommendations she had been receiving, Dr. Ricciardi sought to discover the root of her problems.  And that turned gut health from unpredictable and stressful to calm and controlled.  When she felt like she got her confidence and energy back, Dr. Ricciardi created an environment where women feel heard and supported, where women are seen as more than their diagnosis and they can find the root cause of their pain, digestive distress, struggles with weight, hormones, and fatigue through food and her Root Method approach to help women thrive in their bodies and she is the guest on this episode of "What's Up Down There!"

Her passion is helping women to feel confidence and certainty in health because our health impacts all the areas of our lives.

Key Points:

*Inflammation Is the root of a lot of health issues.

*Getting information from the wrong tests could cause things to get unnecessarily eliminated from your diet.

*Remove offending foods from your diet and replace them with foods that are better for you.

*It’s important to find out what is causing your stress in order to relieve it and stop the effects of stress on your body.

*Little stressors you ignore could build up and add unnecessary stress.

*Taking care of yourself is important because you can’t help others if you’re not feeling good.

*How she helps client find the “why” of their health issues.

Amanda Webster: Beat Depression On Your Own Terms!

Amanda Webster: Beat Depression On Your Own Terms!

Have you or anyone you know tried medication and other methods to deal with your mental illness and found that it hasn’t worked, or even made it worse?  Certified Mind-Body wellness coach, Amanda Webster, offers so much incredible insight and inspiration on the "What's Up Down There?" podcast this week as she shares her experience with dealing with and overcoming depression.

“These medical professionals do get kickbacks for writing you these prescriptions. They’re not going to make anything if you change your diet. That’s not helping them. They don’t want you to heal, because if you heal yourself, you’re not going to go to them anymore. ”

The majority of serotonin is produced in your gut, so if you are not your body is not getting the nutrient it needs, you will not produce the serotonin that could help you feel better.  You need to give your body the proper tools to operate at the optimum level.  If you feed yourself garbage, you will probably feel that way.

“If you’re not feeding your body, it’s going to affect your emotions and anger is an emotion.”

Go more in-depth into these topics and so much more in this inspiring and inspiring episode of "What's Up Down There?" as host, Laurie Seely, speaks with Amber Webster.

Key Points:

*Gut health does affect mental health.

*How the death of Linkin Park singer, Chester Bennington, affected Amanda.

*What large farms are really doing with cancerous tumors

*The true meaning of the USDA Certified Organic label.

*How anxiety and adrenal fatigue are related.

*The influence pharmaceutical companies have on doctors and medical schools.

*Masturbation as an act of self-love and mindfulness.

*What you eat has an effect on your emotions.

*You can’t help people who don’t want to help themselves.

*”Fat-free” products used to distract from products full of sugar.

Amanda Webster is a certified Mind-Body Wellness coach who has beat depression on her own terms. After being guinea pigged on medications for years, succumbing to addiction and self-harm and nearly taking her life on the ledge of a Canadian hotel room, she realized that she needed to make some changes in her life if she wanted to give herself the best chance possible at healing. Now, she is being decertified as having a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) by the very professionals that told her it was impossible.  When she was struggling and wanted to get referrals to other specialists to get to the source of what was causing her mental illness, she realized the incentives doctors had for not giving her the referrals she wanted.

Makin' Babies with Kela Smith

Makin' Babies with Kela Smith

On this week's *MOM FRIENDLY* episode, we talk with Kela Smith, professional fitness trainer, wellness educator and author.

We had a great conversation. Here's what we talked about:

How to balance hormones, increase libido, make a baby and improve your sex life naturally, without medical intervention.

Cycle syncing to help with PMS, sex drive, vaginal dryness and detoxification of sex hormones at the end of your cycle.

The Hormone PUZZLE – it’s about more than just estrogen, testosterone and progesterone.

Stress, food choices and emotions as they relate to infertility.

How to be relaxed and actually enjoy sex so that you have a better chance of making a baby.

Stress! Chronic stress tells the body that the world is unsafe. The body then turns off all rest and digest functions, including digestion, desire, and reproduction.

Stress, especially CHRONIC stress causes the majority of IBS that I see. Stress is going to become a theme on this podcast!

On this week's #MOMFRIENDLY episode, I talk with Michelle Barrial of www.healingheartsandminds.com Do you understand just how important stress relief is to gut health???

Michelle and I discuss some beautiful ways (including self hypnosis, tapping, and energy healing) to decrease stress while improving gut bacteria, increasing sex drive, and healing old wounds.

We cover a number of very do-able and practical strategies for stress relief and discuss the very important gut-brain connection. Your brain and your gut communicate through the pituitary gland using hormones! Did you know that??

Episode 3 Suzanne Pool - Get Your Sexy Back!

Episode 3 Suzanne Pool - Get Your Sexy Back!

This week, we talk with the delightful Suzanne Pool, Women's Sexual Empowerment Coach. This might be an episode my mom can skip! lol!

Suzanne gets into:

Her dry, sexless 30's, her fun sex filled 40's, and helping her clients see that their attractiveness doesn’t have anything to do with their size or how they look. It’s all in how you feel about yourself and your level of confidence.

How Suzanne changed her mindset and GOT LAID! Started exercising again, started eating healthy… sleeps better… the virtuous circle

Exploring different types of sexual energy: domination and submission, exploring your own boundaries, the level of trust that develops when you allow someone to tie you up and cause you pain.

Pushing that boundary but also having the ability to say no when it gets to be too much.

The connection between being tied up in the bedroom and going through some pain that can actually feel very good – and relating that to difficult things we may go through in life and knowing that you’re stronger than you’d thought.

What happens when you’re trying to improve your sex life with your partner of many years?

The audio for this one is kinda off. Please forgive it. They’re not all like this! It was an oops that we figured out later, but it’s such a great interview that we sacrificed the sound for an inspiring message.
