Episode 45 of the LAW Podcast Series features Pierre Chauvette, managing partner at TCJ in Montreal, Canada.

Pierre practices in the field of real estate. He is involved in various projects concerning expropriation, municipal taxation and property assessment, areas in which he has developed a particular expertise. He advises clients on leases, commercial transactions and landlord/tenant relationships.  

Pierre also works in commercial law, and more specifically international affairs.  He assists Canadian clients doing business abroad as well as European and African companies doing business in Canada. He is also competent to act in international arbitration (ICC).

In his appellate practice, Skyler provides support to the firm’s other trial lawyers, researching complex issues, ensuring the preservation of appealable error, drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefing, and arguing appeals. Given his background as a trial lawyer, he is able to approach appellate matters holistically, and has a deep understanding of appellate needs from inception through verdict at the trial level.   

Before joining the firm, Skyler served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Ken Molberg in the 95th District Court in Dallas and the Honorable Robert Junell in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Prior to entering the practice of law, Skyler worked as a professional actor in Los Angeles and Europe, and he brings the same creative energy to his practice today.

Idigbe is the founder of the Capital Market Solicitors Association (CMSA). He chaired the 2017 Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Legal Profession Regulation Review Committee, which reviewed the regulation of the legal profession in Nigeria. In 2013 he was appointed the National Coordinator for Nigeria, World Bank Global Forum of Law, Justice and Development Project on Treatment of Shareholders' Rights in Insolvency of Companies (2013 to 2014); and in 2012 a Member of the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force set up by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

In addition, he chaired the Technical Drafting Committee for the Bill that became the Investment and Securities Act 2007. He recently chaired the review committee for the same law resulting in the Investment and Securities Bill now before the National Assembly. As a consultant to the Bureau of Public Enterprises, he and now Hon Justice Nnamdi Dimgba drafted the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Bill now Act relating to anti-trust and competition law in Nigeria.

Soo Chuan specialises in corporate and commercial dispute resolution. He has worked with leading Malaysian companies and international clients in both court litigation and arbitration at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration.

Soo Chuan graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of Leicester. He was called to the Bar of England & Wales as a Barrister at Law of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 1995. He was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1996. He also holds a degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nottingham.

Soo Chuan also acts as general counsel for Tay & Partners. He has reviewed compliance and KYC issues for clients and for our firm.

Soo Chuan is the co-author of a publication by CCH Pte Ltd on dispute resolution and debt recovery, including corporate insolvency, receivership and debt restructuring.

Episode 38 of the LAW Podcast Series features Shannon Clark, Shareholder/Partner at Gallagher & Kennedy (G&K) Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Shannon is co-chair of the firm’s Plaintiff’s Personal Injury & Wrongful Death group. He has a lot of experience trying, litigating, and resolving cases involving  motor vehicle crashes, aviation disasters, commercial trucking wrecks, product liability, and professional negligence.

Shannon also has significant experience on the other side of the ‘v.’  He began his career handling a sizeable volume of insurance defense work and representing self-insured entities including major retail stores and mining operations.  Shannon is well-versed on both sides of insurance issues and has served as personal counsel for individuals and corporations helping them secure protection and resolution of claims made against them.

Shannon sees mediation and ADR as a better way of resolving cases and offers his service as a neutral because he derives great satisfaction from helping others resolve cases outside a courtroom. 

In addition to co-chairing G&K’s robust PI team, Shannon also serves on the firm’s Board of Directors, lateral recruiting committee, associate’s committee, and compensation committee.

Outside of the firm, Shannon is actively involved in ICAN: Positive Programs for Youth, a youth development program in Chandler, Arizona. He currently serves on ICAN’s Board of Directors and its Fund Development Committee.

Henry is a lawyer licensed in Vietnam, New York state, and Massachusetts state in the United States. Henry represented hundreds of start-up businesses to file a petition calling for the scrapping of Article 292 under Penal Code 2015 due to it hindering the development of internet and telecommunications-based companies. In 2016 and 2017, the Prime Minister and the National Assembly of Vietnam agreed to remove Article 292.
