Leaders Fuel Episode 22: Matt Green / 5 Things Business Owners Do to Lose Money on Taxes

Matt Green, MBA, EA

President & Founder of Ledger Medial Accounting Services

Greenville, SC

Matt is a native of Greenville, SC, a husband, and a father of three. He was born with an entrepreneurial spirit and spent the first years of his adult life pursuing opportunities mostly in the realm of music.

In 2012 Matt felt that an education in accounting would put him in a position to guide aspiring entrepreneurs and partner with them on their path to success. After starting at Greenville Tech, he would transfer to Liberty University where he obtained a Bachelor’s in Accounting and then an MBA with a concentration in Accounting. Along the way he would also become an IRS Enrolled Agent and a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

After roughly five years with a CPA firm, Matt and the firm parted ways and Ledger Medial Accounting Services was born. Matt started Ledger in August 2020 with two clear missions, to provide cost effective tax options for individuals and provide streamlined accounting, advisory, and tax services to small businesses and help put them in a position for rapid growth and success.

Leaders Fuel Episode 16: Natalia Williams - Called to Beauty

Natalia Williams

I have been in the Beauty Industry since I was 16 years old. I started walking this path not knowing the places that it would take me. Over the years I have had the privilege of working with some of the best hair artists within the industry.

I attended Virginia Farrell Beauty School in Westland, Michigan during my junior and senior year of high school. At the time I decided I wanted to have fun and enjoy myself after high school and I dropped out of beauty school at that time. Many years later I had a defining moment sitting in my cubicle in my corporate job. It was a moment that would act as a catalyst to re-enter the beauty industry.

I then attended the Academy of Hair Technology for the nail technician program while still working fulltime and traveling to Manhattan for my job at that time. I finished the program in 5 months and my husband and I prayed and took the leap of faith and I left my corporate job in sales and I opened my nail salon.

After several years of being a nail technician I decided to further my career and pursue becoming a Cosmetologist. I trained with Paul Mitchell the School and ended up becoming a Professional Development Coach for them as well as a Technical Coach. This opened up numerous opportunities for me to train with the best and prepare me for all that awaited me in this industry.

I am currently still a licensed cosmetologist and a Senior Sales Consultant for Lemongrass Spa Products. I have the privilege of educating individuals and their families about taking care of the largest organ of their bodies. Your skin!! I educate and assist individuals make the ditch and switch to non-toxic skincare and body care! You can connect with me on Facebook in my VIP Group- Healthy Living with Natalia and my Facebook business page-Lemongrass Spa by Natalia.

Leaders Fuel Episode 14 Michelle Russ - Lead with Values / Know Your Numbers

Leaders Fuel Episode 14 Michelle Russ - Lead with Values / Know Your Numbers

Michelle Russ

Michelle was born in San Diego California but raised primarily in Albany, Georgia, and has lived in Greenville, South Carolina for the past 26 years. She is the first daughter in a family of nine children.

Michelle is married and has four children, she enjoys being outdoors, hiking, and western horseback riding. But her passion is helping develop others to reach their full potential. She sees the good and positivity in others, she inspires confidence and encourages those around her to be their best selves. She is a leader that leads by example and hard work.

She created The Roofing Company in late 2018. With S employees and only a couple of months left in the year, she reached sales of $480,000. In 2019 she led The Roofing Company to 2.5 million in sales and in 2020 she closed out the year with S million in sales and 39 employees.

Although she started The Roofing Company in 2018, she has been in the roofing industry for 16 years. She began as a full-time business bookkeeper for a prominent local construction company and also trained horses. While training, she sustained an injury that left her immobile and on her back for some time. This time allowed her to focus on herself, her dreams, and what her passions really were. She realized that the joy she felt from training these majestic creatures, she also felt when helping others see and reach their greatest potential. While healing from her injuries, she went to college and received an accounting degree. When she was fully recovered, she came back to the roofing industry with a passion and a drive that motivated her to be an incredible asset to the company she was employed for. She wore multiple hats, running a company that wasn't hers and making it into a vibrant thriving company, reaching 3 million in sales year after year. Company politics seemed to keep Michelle in a box where she couldn't allow herself, her staff nor the company to fully grow and reach their greatest heights. It was then that she realized that to accomplish her passion she needed to be in a position of leadership. So she started the first-ever, woman-owned, and operated roofing company.

The Roofing Company now has 2 locations, 39 employees, and is still growing strong. She treats her employees with love and respect, empowering them to reach their potential and fulfill their dreams. The Roofing Company working culture has a true family feel, making employees and customers alike feel that they are a part of something great

Leaders Fuel Episode 10: Brenda Baker / An Entrepreneurial of Service

Leaders Fuel Episode 10: Brenda Baker / An Entrepreneurial of Service

Brenda Baker

Brenda’s passion is all about helping people. One of her greatest achievements was working internationally in the field of adoptions for 18 years. She organized the placement for over 1,000 orphan children from Russia, Latvia, Moldova, Estonia, Romania, China, and Guatemala.

During her tenure, Brenda was very instrumental in providing humanitarian aid to the children left behind. Brenda has seven children, five of whom are adopted.

Brenda’s youngest son “Sasha” was diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia at the age of 11; he was on a first-grade educational level. Brenda was told Sasha’s chances to ever catch up would be, if possible, a challenging road ahead.

Having tried pharmaceutical medication in Sasha’s early elementary days Brenda was very reluctant to try medication again, however, at the advice of Sasha’s pediatrician, they tried pharmaceutical medication for two years.

The side effects were horrific. Then one day her son boldly stated, “No more meds,” which ultimately changed his and Brenda’s lives. Researching alternative methods to pharmaceutical medications lead Brenda on a mission to complete her studies in natural health.

Brenda has over a decade of experience in natural health. She is a Board-Certified Drugless Practitioner and Board-Certified Alternative Health Medical Practitioner. Brenda is a traditional naturopath and graduated from Trinity College of Natural Health with a doctorate in Naturopathy. Brenda also holds specialties as an advanced Loomis Digestive Health Specialist, Enzyme Nutritionist, Master Herbalist, Certified Natural Health Professional, Certified Nutritional Consultant, Certified Iridologist, and Certified RECODE specialist (reversing cognitive decline).

Brenda works with each client individually to determine their body’s strengths and weaknesses. Through a diagnostic screening and complete health evaluation, Brenda touches on the stress of the body then implements a nutritional plan to harmonize those stressors.

Brenda is gifted in helping clients see their authentic self and empowers each of them to take control of their health, so they have the quality of life they desire and deserve.
