We're back from our brief Christmas and New Years hiatus with an episode rammed full of all the random bits and pieces we've been sniffing over the holidays. James has a full 4987, we discuss a handful of new samples supplied by Dan (perfume sample, you sicko) and Ben and Fliss celebrate losing their sense of smell and not resigning to jumping off cliffs, climbing up buildings or strapping an orange in their mouths with a pair of old tights.

In true fashionably late style, this week we’re doing our Halloween episode and talking about fragrances of a most dark nature. Buckle in whilst we talk about what makes a fragrance dark or spooky and whether or not horrific perfumes with notes of gore and filth have any value as a perfume at all. This week we're talking about the concepts behind the perfumes. Can a good concept make or break a good perfume, or is it all just a pile of pretentious guff, cooked up by an eccentric during a fever dream? From historical Navy battles to the sterility of the 9-5 workplace, there's seemingly a concept that can appeal to anyone, but is that really a good thing? There's also a remarkable number of perfumes that try to conjure up our filthy bits, what's that all about? Also, why it's important to listen to Pappy Houdini, Ben sings the praises of the new Zoologist and Dan throws down the gauntlet to any potential sponsors who may wish to send us to Esxence 2023 so he can stop watching through the window like a Victorian orphan.

This week is all about Hermes. Is it just thee best house of all time? Yes, no, maybe, but one thing is for certain, JCE put in a jolly good effort during his time as the in house perfumer. Is Christine Nagel up to filling his boots, and would they even look good on her, anyway? Also, Ben eats his words RE: Floraiku, Dan stinks his house out with ultra-Kouros candles and James wows us all with his bargain bin masterpiece.
