LED #8: The Handoff of project plans
In this episode, we move to the Deliver phase and discuss design briefs and project plans. We’ll cover how to pick your design solution (the project you want to move forward with) and how to frame it for success. LED #6: Picking a focus area
In this episode, we start the Design phase and discuss why focus areas are helpful when approaching your life experience design project. We go over examples of past work projects where focus mattered, chat about our personal focus areas and how they’ve evolved over time, and present an exercise of how to start designing for your own focus areas. LED #5: Create your own mission and vision statement
In this episode, we go deeper in the Define phase, covering vision and mission statements. We go over values and vision statements of some well-known companies, and tie this back why it’s also important to define these in your own life. As with values, having a vision and mission statement will help you gain clarity on how to design for your life. We use values that we came up with in Episode 4 to start framing our own vision and mission statements, and encourage you to do the same. LED #4: What you stand for and why this matters
In this episode, we move into the Define phase, which includes defining your values and principles. This helps you stay true to the design you want for your life, especially in those moments where you’re not sure how to move forward. Values help you guide your choices. We cover the heroes exercise and walk you through how you can begin to articulate your values. LED #3: Reflect and find the gap
In this episode, we talk about identifying the gap between the current and ideal states of our “product”, in this case our lives. When you’re first trying to figure out what to change in your life, you need to consider scope, reflect on what’s working and what isn’t, and how to prioritize what area changes first. We talk about reflecting using the rose, thorn, and bud framework. We also cover Discover phase exercises including empathy mapping, four quadrants, and timeline mapping.
