Success Comes with Shedding: The Reality of Losing Friends

Are you willing to pay the price for success? In our journey to achieve our dreams, we often face a harsh reality: losing friends. But why does success sometimes come with shedding? Friends are the people who support us, laugh with us, and share in our joys and sorrows.

Yet, as we strive for greatness, our paths may diverge from those we once held dear. Our dreams may become too big for others to comprehend. Some may even feel threatened by our ambition, or envy our achievements. As we ascend the ladder of success, we may find that our circle grows smaller.

But it's not about abandoning friends or cutting ties. It's about understanding that, sometimes, we must let go to move forward.

For success requires us to surround ourselves not with those who hold us back, but with those who challenge us to be better.

True friends will celebrate our victories, standing by our side through thick and thin. They will push us to new heights, even if it means letting go of their role in our lives. Losing friends doesn't mean we've failed. It means we have evolved.

So, if you find yourself weary from shedding friends, remember that it is a testament to your growth, determination, and unwavering pursuit of success.

Embrace the journey, and cherish the friends who remain. Together, you'll forge an unbreakable bond rooted in shared dreams and mutual support. Success may come at a cost, but the friendships that endure are priceless.

S3:E87 I Decided with Nyia Cotton

Niya Cotton's life narrative is interwoven with a legacy of music. Born to a father who graced the ranks of original Richard Smallwood singers and a mother who commanded rhythm as a seasoned drummer, Niya's destiny as a musical communicator was evident from the start. Her journey commenced at the tender age of 2 in her church's youth choir, a stepping stone to her emergence as an artist of exceptional caliber.

Graduating as salutatorian from Washington, D.C.'s Duke Ellington School of the Arts in 2000 and later earning a B.A. in Vocal Performance from Hampton University in 2004, Niya's artistic foundation was solidified. Her path led her to Los Angeles, where she contributed her talents to Warner Brothers' TV Music department, leaving her mark on prominent television shows. Her harmonious tones reverberated beyond screens, gracing tracks for renowned artists like Michael Bublé and Chance the Rapper. Notably, she etched her presence in Kirk Franklin's album "Losing My Religion," a turning point that paved the way for her enduring collaboration with the Fo Yo Soul family. Beyond music, Niya's influence extended through "The Whole Tone LLC," a venture nurturing wholeness through art, education, and entertainment. As a worship leader, creative director, and mentor, she continues to orchestrate a life that marries artistry with profound purpose, all while embracing her role as a dedicated parent alongside her husband Roy in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

S3:E85 Diary of a Pimp’s Wife with Karen Joy

S3:E85 Diary of a Pimp’s Wife with Karen Joy

Welcome back to Life Her Podcast!
I highly recommend the book Diary of a Pimp’s Wife. This book’s author, Karen Joy, is joining us today to tell us what inspired her to share this riveting
real-life memoir. Karen grew up in the Bronx, where hip-hop was born, and has always had a passion for helping musical artists find their way in the
entertainment industry. So, it was no surprise that she would marry a man who seemed to be another self-staring entrepreneur, as well as an up-and-coming rapper. However, things took a different turn, and she soon found herself living the life of a common-law wife to a ruthless pimp.
Trying to make the best of a tumultuous situation, Karen attempted to make things work, building her own separate business in the country club industry and living separated from her spouse while still legally married. Karen even found herself spending time trying to help girls exit the life, feeling compassion for the young women that her husband and others were coercing into the sex industry.
In this episode, we will gain a lot of insight into the risk factors that lead to being exploited in the adult industry. While it’s true that some young women are able to keep their money and be their own boss, Karen explains that the vast majority are actually falling prey to a predatory system that is set up to chew them up and spit them out. She shares her observations about the intentional way that pimps look for vulnerabilities like drug dependence, homelessness, and even just
naivety, and how they capitalize on those circumstances for their own gain.
Of course sex work is a controversial and multi-faceted topic, and Karen has experienced some backlash for pointing out the ways that this common, growing industry often breaks labor laws and destroys lives. Yet, she continues to bravely speak her truth from years of first-hand observation. We also talk about the process of writing and publishing a book. Karen shares that writing this has been a purge of emotions and experiences, and she has found healing through sharing her story with the world. She’s hard at work promoting the book, searching for the right voice actor to create the audio version, and even planning a part two where she will dive even deeper into where some of the young women are now.

S3:E83 Wegovy AKA “The Skinny Shot” with Dr Angelina Postoev

As regular consumers of social media, we open our minds to participate in trending topics and challenges. Hair products, makeup tools, and foreign foods gain popularity and quickly become sparse on store shelves. Recently there has been controversy over the excessive use of Wegovy, an anti-obesity medication for long-term weight management. The shortage of Wegovy caused providers to begin prescribing their weight loss patients with Ozempic, an antidiabetic medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Both of these medications are different dosages of semaglutide which raises the questions, is there enough to go around? Are Wegovy users justified in their necessity of the medication? Is a weight loss shot an ethical use of medication? CEO and Co-founder of IBI Healthcare Institute, Dr. Angelina Postoev has over 10 years of experience to serve Georgia with the best surgical care in the state. She completed her residence at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, one year of critical care at Ohio state, and one year of Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship. With her extensive knowledge of the body, Dr. Angelina understands how critical and beneficial weight loss can be on the overall health of human beings especially those dealing with diabetes. S3:E79 Finding your Purpose through Pain with Valencia Joy

Ladies let’s be honest for a moment. Have you ever been in so much pain that you thought it would kill you, but instead, it gave you another chance in life and helped you find your purpose?

Today, I have the honour of hosting the amazing Valencia Joy. She is the author of ‘I Met A Guy’, and her purpose is to help women. Valencia is one person I know who will always serve you things as they are without sugar-coating. Expect a lot of that in this episode.

In this episode, Valencia takes us through her journey to becoming the woman she is today. She was married for 12 years and divorced for over eight years. Valencia’s husband cheated on her 1,000,001 times, and she only left 1,000,001st times. You must be wondering why did she hang in there for so long? Why didn’t she leave earlier? According to Valencia, she was obeying God.

When she left her marriage, she was hurt and broken. She had to go through a journey of trying to find herself, and in her pain, she found her purpose. Valencia would share her story anonymously, and she realized many women had been through a similar journey. From that point, she made it her mission to help women find themselves and deal with pain.

Valencia urges women always to ensure we have sister-friends who we can share with what we are going through. We need a community to call us out when we are wrong, celebrate our wins, cry with us when necessary and help us up when we’ve been down for too long.

S3:E78 Beauty in the Breakdown with Dee Manuel Cloud

Have you ever felt like you needed to shrink back in order to appease others?   In this episode, I talk with author and coach Dee Manuel Cloud about her recent book, Beauty in the Breakdown. She explains how she learned to stop shrinking back, and how she lives life to the fullest after surviving cancer twice.   Dee shares about her struggles battling breast cancer, and how sometimes physical illness can be caused by years of stress - in her case, by living life to please others instead of herself. We chat about how to find the beauty in the midst of life’s trials, how to have a more genuine relationship with God and others, and what it’s like to face and overcome fears.   One of the fears that Dee has faced in her life has been coming out with regards to her sexuality. She talks about what it felt like to lose friends, grieve having to file for for divorce, and yet be moving into better alignment with her dreams and desires at the same time. Another fear that Dee has faced was writing a book! We hear how mentorship and encouragement from those around her helped her navigate the process and bravely face the feeling of putting her story out into the world.   We also celebrate her achievement of landing on Amazon’s Best Seller List in the Breast Cancer category. I know the hard work she poured into this book will help the people it reaches. As you learn how Dee walked through her difficult seasons, you will be inspired to stop playing it small, and start going after the things you long to see in your life. And we all have a story to tell, so don’t underestimate how many people you could also reach with your own.   Read Dee’s book here: https://www.amazon.com/Beauty-Breakdown-Finding-Peace-Disruptions-ebook/dp/B0BTRLZRRZ?ref_=ast_author_mpb

S3:E75 Stop Explaining Yourself To People with Yvette Lloyd

S3:E75 Stop Explaining Yourself To People with Yvette Lloyd

How often do you find yourself trying to explain your choices to people?

Justifying your choices to people sounds like the best thing to do until you realize how derailing it is. People can quickly talk you out of something you are passionate about because they do not share a common point of view with you. I remember when I decided to start this podcast and did it by myself. People were questioning why I was buying the equipment. They did not appreciate my passion for it.

Take a moment and look back to when you decided to do something you love. Were people happy about it? Were they all clapping for you? Can I guess? It wasn’t easy at all. You had to set boundaries and shed off some people because you weren’t on the same page. It’s funny how we lose people dear to us when we chase our dreams.

Today, I want to share reasons why you should stop explaining yourself to people and live your passion. This topic is easier said and done for many of us, but today we are here to change the narrative. Listen in and learn.

Things You’ll Hear From This Episode:

· The essence of setting boundaries

· How to make choices and stand by them no matter what people say

· The importance of doing the things you love

· How not to get caught up with seeking validation when chasing our passion

Magical Quotes from the Episode:

“Boundaries come with you figuring out who you are.”

“Somebody has to be relatable in your life for you to have certain conversations with them.”

“You could teach someone the skill. You could tell them how to do anything you’re passionate about. But it still won’t be like yours. Because yours is with passion.”

“Even though you’re still trying to figure out your path, and you just don’t know the direction you want to go, at least try.”

“Make choices. Without justifying them to anyone.”

S3:E74 Fibroids Disproportionately Effect African American Women with Dr. John Lipman

S3:E74 Fibroids Disproportionately Effect African American Women with Dr. John Lipman

Welcome back to Life Her Podcast! Today we’re taking a moment to care about our health, and learn from a leading expert in women’s health: Dr. John Lipman.

Dr. Lipman trained at Georgetown, Harvard and Yale, and then became one of the world’s leading experts in the nonsurgical removal of uterine fibroids. He has dedicated his career to spreading the word about a lower-risk solution to fibroids called Uterine Fibroid Embolization. This procedure has helped many women avoid a hysterectomy, which is currently the second most common surgery for women in the U.S.

Fibroids disproportionately effect African American women due to genetic and other factors. Dr. Lipman explains why sometimes-unnecessary surgeries for fibroids still occur so often in the U.S., and how he hopes to see that continue to change as awareness grows about other options. Have you ever gone to the doctor and left feeling discouraged or dismissed? I know many black women have had this experience when trying to get medical help, so hearing Dr. Lipman’s passion for helping women of color was a truly refreshing change. I know you’ll appreciate his care, wisdom and insight around this issue as well.

If you’re experiencing heavy bleeding during your period, bladder issues, pain during sex, or unexplained sciatic pain, I encourage you to ask your gynecologist about the possibility of fibroids. And if you feel like your doctor is dismissive, or pushing a hysterectomy with explaining any other options, then take the time to seek out a second opinion.

S3:E73 Bravely Ventured Into A New Territory with Angelita Parham

S3:E73 Bravely Ventured Into A New Territory with Angelita Parham

In today’s episode of Life Her Podcast, we hear from cosmetic entrepreneur Angelita Parham (a.k.a. Angie Steele). Angelita began her make up line, Steele Divine Cosmetics, during the Covid shut-downs. At a time when many business owners felt frozen from fear and uncertainty, she was able to bravely venture into new territory and birth a whole new business while her hair shop was forced to halt.

Angelita’s grit and tenacity is undeniable, and this episode is going to inspire you to turn your own hardships into opportunities as well. Her faith, generosity, and willingness to collaborate played big roles in spreading the word about her new line, and I get to ask her how her mindset has risen to this place of abundance and openness to others.

We’ll hear how she had to push to get quality ingredients and vet several suppliers scrupulously during a time when the supply chain was delayed and spotty. We can all glean wisdom from her diligence in this; we don’t need to let economic pressures rush us, or our anxieties cause us to miss crucial steps - we can do the work that’s required to create quality content and products.

Angelita then modeled the products herself, generating quality photos from home during the pandemic - and sold out her first batch in one day! There is still so much we can do within our limitations, whether that’s a modest financial overhead, being restricted in our location, or even how much assistance we may or may not have in this season. I loved hearing about all of her creative solutions.

I also love how Angelita utilizes her geographic context in creating new products. Being from Memphis, she invited a lip color called 901 Girl, a deep blue hue that connects her brand to Big Memphis, GloRilla, and all the many things that Memphis-dwellers feel familiar with. Her Boofriend Red liquid lip color is my personal favorite, so make sure you go check out Angelita’s amazing product line and show her some love.

S3:E72 Multi-Million Dollar Sugar Queen with Lina Kennedy

S3:E72 Multi-Million Dollar Sugar Queen with Lina Kennedy

On this episode of the Life Her podcast, I talk with beauty brand builder Lina Kennedy. She’s the CEO of Alexandria Professional, a multi-million dollar body sugaring hair removal and skincare line, and she recently wrote a book called The Sugar Queen.

If you have a background of family dysfunction, abuse, or poverty, this story is going to be especially uplifting to you. Lina’s childhood was challenging in many ways, and our conversation starts with me asking her how she worked past these hinderances and became the generous and successful person she is today.

Lina shares how she got involved in beauty and skincare, and what made her decide to start this business. She describes some of the early opportunities that came her way in the field, and how she maximized them to grow her skincare brand. She also shares some of the elements of her products and company values that set them apart from many other companies.

She describes the process of creating the audio version of her new book, and why it was a good choice to take on the daunting task of narrating it herself.

Then, we talk about the topic of fear versus fearlessness. What does fearlessness look like in everyday life, and why is it so rare in the world? Lina gives examples of times that it paid off to take risks, and of ways that her entrepreneur spirit pushed past limits and expectations.

It’s obvious that Lina puts her heart and soul into everything she does. She shares how her three kids are involved in the business, and how she plans to delegate more in this next year in order to be present in every aspect of her life.

She also shares about her ongoing philanthropic involvement in the fight to end childhood abuse, and gives some wise words about healing and true forgiveness.

Lina is on such a high level with regards to not letting others drag her down, and she has sharp discernment about people’s character. She shares a beautiful redemption story about re-hiring someone who had previously done her company wrong, and how she could tell that person had just been lost, rather than truly evil.

You’ll be inspired this story and by our whole conversation, and I know it’s going to help you see how you can take your life and entrepreneurship to new levels this year as well.

S3:E71 How Do I Do It? with Host Yvette Lloyd

S3:E71 How Do I Do It? with Host Yvette Lloyd

Welcome back to Life Her Podcast. It’s Season 3! This is a solo episode, and I have some things I want to share with you, from the heart.

First, I’m so incredibly excited about my upcoming GRAND OPENING of my podcast content studio here in Akron, Ohio! It’s a few blocks away from LeBron’s new museum, and it officially launches at the end of April! Some of you may know I’ve been in business for 15 years, and I’ve also been through a lot in my personal life. So, I’ve been feeling prompted to be more open about my own experiences and growth process.

Today I share about my work schedule and routine, and how leadership and business ownership often requires me to be alone, and dig deep. A lot of times people only see what we post, but the hidden daily grind that we go through is not always acknowledged. Wherever you’re at in your journey, I want you to know that you can do this. Keep doing what you can, one day at a time, and don’t worry about things like pictures with celebrities or how people are perceiving your social media posts - keep your focus on growing your business and becoming as healthy as you can.

Know who you are, and WHY you do what you do. Make a practice of looking in the mirror, and finding your worth in the right things. It’s also so important to examine your inner circle and get your own house in order. I also open up about my battle with depression after losing my mom and then my late husband.

I’m processing these losses in the midst of lots of hard work, and the opening of my podcast studio is a bittersweet reminder to me; I know that these two close family members that I don’t have with me any more would be so proud. It’s hard to move forward without them, getting this studio space and opening this new venture, but I know I’m putting my energies towards the right things, and it’s all dedicated to them.

Lately I have this new resolve to say what I’ve got to say. I talk a lot about positivity, mindset and dealing with loss - deep things that maybe not everyone is ready to hear. But, I know my people will find me, and I want to share what’s real and transparent.

Thank you for walking with me on this journey. Let’s stay connected, and keep winning together.

"I’m Single Not Sorry" with Jennifer Payne

"I’m Single Not Sorry" with Jennifer Payne

Jennifer Payne’s book, “I’m Single Not Sorry,” tells the story of a successful businesswoman in her 40’s, Ava Amore, who decides to look for love.

On today’s episode we get to hear what inspired Jennifer to write this story, and some of the things she’s learned in single life.

Our society can pressure women to create a certain life, but more and more women are going against the default narrative and forging their own path. We’re all different: single, married, widowed, divorced, partnered, or other. There’s no right or wrong life story, and today we talk about the pluses and minuses of the single life.

Many of us can relate to the ups, downs and mishaps of the dating life, and Jennifer’s dating history didn’t always go as plan. When she hit 40, she had some friends and family prying and pressuring as they do, and that’s when this book was born. Throughout the beginning of the writing process, she experienced a betrayal, and decided to use the experience to further fuel her writing.

It’s so inspiring to hear how she’s turned challenges into opportunities, and heartwarming to learn things are going well for her right now. You can hear the wisdom she carries about loving ourselves, living full lives, knowing what to look for in relationships, and moving forward after disappointments.

We also chat about how social media can be a blessing or a curse, and how to know when it’s time to take a break from it.

And, she shares insights about her descriptive writing style, what her current boyfriend thinks about the book, and some of the people in her life who inspired certain pages and characters.

Jennifer’s lively, creative book also includes QR codes to playlists and recipes, so make sure you check it out!

Protecting Your Brand with The Biz Lawyer Rosezena Williams

Protecting Your Brand with The Biz Lawyer Rosezena Williams

On today’s episode, we learn valuable tips about trademark, copyright law and securing our personal brand with The Biz Lawyer, Rosezena Williams.

Rosezena specializes in trademarks for beauty, fashion and entertainment brands. She’s amazing at marketing and very successful at securing the vision of her clients.

You’re going to walk away from this episode feeling more knowledgeable about copyright, and more equipped to win in your business.

Rosezena knew she wanted to be in international business law since age 5 (wow), and during her undergraduate studies, one of her professors was a trademark lawyer and catered the class towards trademark law. She got a letter of recommendation from her and continued on to law school with a focus in intellectual property.

A lot of people haven’t been given the right information about trademark law. Personally I’ve learned so much about the importance of protecting my intellectual property during the legal process that Rosezena led me through, while obtaining my own trademark.

For instance, if you hire a designer that creates your logo, they own the copyright by default. So Rosezena encourages us to enter in to a work-for-hire agreement, so that we can own our own logo outright.

We chat about how trademark law works in the beauty realm, how to research to see if a business name is available, and what constitutes required ingredient disclosure verses trade secrets.

We also talk about the limitations of specific trademarks, how renewals work, and how to know what class of business and region you need to register in.

Now that Rosezena’s brand is so huge online, she even shares how she’s had to protect her own brand from plagiarism and copyright infringement.

Creatives often shy away from administrative work, but taking time to register our intellectual property is a must to protect the rights of our own names, brands and likeness. If you feel overwhelmed but know you need to learn more, I encourage you to connect with Rosezena.

The Colorless Womb with Kimberly Gowdy

The Colorless Womb with Kimberly Gowdy

In her new book, The Colorless Womb, author Kimberly Gowdy tackles the topic of surrogacy and infertility head-on. Kimberly had always yearned for a child, but after multiple miscarriages, coupled with an unhealthy marriage, she accepted that her plan to become a mother was inconceivable. A painful divorce and a job opportunity opened the door for a fresh start in Atlanta, Georgia. The book encapsulates Gowdy’s early struggles to conceive and carry a child to term amidst misfortunes—three miscarriages and being trapped in an abusive marriage with her former spouse who valued his drug addiction more than his wife. Her journey in search of alternative ways to have a family is confronted with racial and societal pressures of parenthood but after seven failed surrogacy attempts with one embryo left, the biggest surprise comes in an unexpected package.

Gowdy’s openness to share her truth is refreshing and brings the reader along for an emotional ride sprinkled with humor, pain, encouragement, faith, and transparency. She proves that help in any form can come in unseen ways and people. “Since this is a true story, it was just a matter of telling my truth. The Colorless Womb shows that even with the racial tensions in our country, love is above racism. The person on the inside matters more than what is on the outside,” Gowdy says.

The Colorless Womb is available in paperback and eBook on March 1, 2021, on Amazon.com, www.shop.booklogix.com, Apple iBooks, and www.BarnesandNoble.com

Suffocated with Alexis "Lexxy" Walker

Suffocated with Alexis "Lexxy" Walker

On today’s episode, we talk with actor and rap artist Alexis Walker (aka Sexxy Lexxy).

Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Lexxy Walker was on season 6 of the reality TV show Love & Hip Hop where she performed as part of the duo BBOD.

Lexxy has shifted from reality TV to acting, and even producing her own movie - a story based on her own life called Suffocated - as well as the many other ventures that she has going on in her business life!

Lexxy has always loved and pursued acting, even before she began creating music, but she shares that sometimes anxiety still hits her before a scene. We chat about the approach she applies to learning lines for scenes, the pro’s and con’s of reality TV versus filming for a movie, and whether she’d ever do another reality show.

Her team shot the movie Suffocated right before covid hit, and the pause that this caused made Lexxy wonder if it was going to even come out.

Eventually, a company called Maverick picked it up for distribution, and I’m so glad it was released because it helps women to see a reflection of themselves; if you find yourself rooting for the main character to get free and find healthier relationships, then it may encourage you to root for yourself in your own story.

Lexxy talks about how it feels to watch herself in her own movie, and how she’s grateful to see what she came through.

She gives some loving advice to women who deal with womanizers and endure abuse: what to do if you see red flags, why it sometimes takes time for women to leave, and even how to think about seasons of singleness. She sheds light on how to utilize your community to find the support you need and deserve, even in a hard situation.

Then, Lexxy shares her thoughts on having a public platform, how to build up your personal branding, and how to look at life longer-term. It’s important to remember that what gets posted today effects the future, so she encourages us to reflect on how we’ll feel ten years from now about the content we create now.

Finally, Lexxy talks to younger aspiring artists - and she encourages us all to chase our dreams and be willing to sacrifice. (This includes getting on a budget! which is such a good, practical reminder!)

We also talk about pregnancy, God’s timing, and being a mom to her two amazing twins!

Lexxy just filmed Suffocated the Prequel, which will show her earlier life, and is heading in to the studio soon to create new music.

Robert is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best selling author and a wealth expert that has shared on CNN and Fox News. His passion is teaching others how to be successful and transform their lives through investing and starting businesses.

This mindset shift is huge, but it’s easier said than done, and hearing the details of his journey can help. As he began his business, Robert shares that he never asked the people in his life for money, but he asked for advice often, and shared the confidence he had in his deals, so investors eventually came to him.

Robert talks about monetizing your knowledge, teaching what you know, and even how to discover what that is. Then he shares how he learned to love challenges and believe in himself in the real estate world.

He lets us in on his down-to-earth wisdom about getting things in writing and doing things right, and about when to move on from certain investors.

Unlike some wealthy people, Robert makes sure he is always increasing his generosity and giving back to the community, including creating a non-profit that helps teenagers get off the street and start their own businesses.

We also hear about why some people in our lives get jealous when we grow, and how to surround ourselves with people who truly want the best for us.

Take a closer look at some of the most valuable lessons learned in life and through her years in coaching.

1. Don’t manifest what you want, manifest who you are.

2. Through forgiveness, one can let go.

3. Start pouring into one’s self and investing in healing.

4. Holding onto the past affects health—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

5. Living in the past is the ultimate result of self-sabotaging behaviors.

6. Come to terms with trauma through self-awareness, therapy, counseling, coaching, or retreats.

7. Realign negative thoughts, behaviors and words with positivity.

8. Embark on a successful journey by living in the present, not the past or the future.

9. The past does not define us. Turn trauma and tragedy into triumph.

10. Find daily inner peace with a moment of stillness, peace, silence, meditation, and prayer.

Singleton places a gentle lens on guiding the mind, body and soul to achieve happiness and success

The Truth About Mental Health with Coach Randy

The Truth About Mental Health with Coach Randy

On today’s episode of Life Her Podcast, we hear Truth Coach Randy’s level-up story.

Randy G. Howell Jr. assists his clients in recognizing and vanquishing the issues in their lives that may be causing self-inflicted suffering, and guides them to live with greater authenticity.

For Randy, coaching others is not just a career, but is his passion and calling as well. He helps people identify and transcend their roadblocks, which often stem from unmet needs in childhood, and set goals to better themselves. He calls his approach the S.I.M.S. approach, which stands for Story, Implementation, Manifestation, and Show and Tell.

We’re blessed to hear Randy’s own account of discovering these tools first hand: he hit a wall in his marriage and had to do the deep work of healing from approval-reliance and striving. When he got to a place of living for himself instead of for people in his past, he was able to be truly present with his wife and kids in a greater way.

Now, he’s sharing his strategies with others, and it’s truly moving to hear his accounts of clients that have been helped through his coaching.

This episode was such an authentic, uplifting, truth-filled conversation, and there are so many gems of wisdom to be found within it. From hearing about the baseball team Randy coached - bringing a team of kids that nobody else wanted on their team because their talents were underdeveloped all the way to a championship-winning season. Randy says he did this by listening to them, learning their strengths and weaknesses, and allowing them to choose which direction they wanted to go.

We dive into the topic of identity, and discuss how a person can grow into knowing who they are at the core.

Thank you for listening to this very special episode, and make sure you follow Truth Coach Randy and show him some appreciation for sharing his story with us.

Lust Now, Cry Later with Tahanee Zarinah

Lust Now, Cry Later with Tahanee Zarinah

Today on Life Her Podcast, we’re talking with Tahanee Zarinah, author of the Novel, “Lust Now, Cry Later.”

Tahanee’s journey as a creative includes hosting her popular YouTube Channel, “Bedroom Busters and Bites,” being a relationship columnist, expressing her heart through poetry, and being a novelist - now published by the prestigious street lit expert, Wahida Clark.

Today we discuss her writing process as she created the novel, why she chose to open the book with a realistic and stark depiction of abuse, and whether or not she thinks “writers block” is even a thing.

We’ll hear her thoughts on divine inspiration, and on the interplay between being a creative and being connected with the Creator, and we’ll talk about what that looks like for her in her own life.

Tahanee began writing after her family experienced a tragic loss. Her story of expressing grief through writing is a beautiful reminder of the healing power of expression through art.

Every episode of Life Her Podcast contains a story of Trial to Testimony, and Tahanee’s un-stoppable spirit is contagious as she shares hers. We know you’ll be inspired by her motivation to create, build, and express, and by her entrepreneurial drive to help others grow. She serves others through fostering creative communities online, by reminding us all that we’re never alone when we walk through loss, and by generating conversations about generational wealth.

Tahanee and Yvette also take a few minutes on this episode to discuss the different styles of relationships - traditional verses teamwork - and the beauty of black love. They drop some wisdom about what it takes to have a good relationship in the modern day.

Make sure you follow Tahanee at the links below, and thank her for sharing her story with us on this episode!

Let Me Nurse You with Meshia Amia

Let Me Nurse You with Meshia Amia

Meisha Amia, takes a unique approach to supporting and uplifting nurses and their quality of life. A travel nurse herself, Meisha teaches her audience of women how to take contracts, doubling, and even tripling their incomes as nurse entrepreneurs.

She details this in her best-selling book, The Bedside Boss - From Scrubs to Six Figures. We might not think of nurses immediately when we think of entrepreneurship, but through her organization, Chicks with Cheques, Meisha has served more than 20,000 nurses and rising entrepreneurs looking to create more self-sufficiency in the field. Nurse entrepreneurs often feel that society expects them to save everyone, except themselves, and it's time for us to encourage nurses to look out for themselves and create comfortable lives.

Meisha's own story behind becoming a nurse is a powerful testimony. She was a regular patient at her local hospital during her child and teenage years, so much so that most of the staff recognized her when she came in and knew her by name. By the age of 17, she had an open heart surgery and was on life support. Meisha became a nurse because she knows all too well what it feels like to be a patient in need, and wanted to help individuals seeking care.
