What is a Cigar?
What impression do you associate cigars with?
Is it a wise older man reflecting on his past on a porch?
Or father sharing a moment with the sons?
Do you find it odd that a cigar is one of the most presented items in all major life events and celebrations but is also one of the best companions with a whisky during a heartbreak?
Mark Twain, one of the most famous American writers, described his love for cigars in his famous quote “If heaven has no cigars, I shall not go there.”
Other greats, such as Winston Churchill, was never shy about his passion; when once asked why cigar was so special to him, he replied,
“Smoking cigars is like falling in love. First, you are attracted by its shape; you stay for its flavor, and you must always remember never, never to let the flame go out!"
How can a rolled bundle of dried and fermented tobacco leaves made to be smoked become essential to our lifestyles and history?
With this question in mind, I am happy to share that recently, I had the fortune to be invited by Joy and Grace from NYU Stern Executive MBA New Media Marketing to participate in a project featuring Cigar Aficionado as a guest speaker to share some fundamentals about cigar and the fascination of this mysterious world to some.
