Episode 80 with Founder of Partake Brewing Ted Fleming
Over a decade ago he gave up alcohol due to a medical condition. But he missed the beer. He missed the taste of beer and discovering new beers, especially new craft beers. But more than that, he found that he missed the social connection that comes from sharing a drink with a colleague after a hard days work, cracking a beer with the guys after hockey, and joining in to celebrate special occasions with family and friends. So a friend suggested that he try non-alcoholic beer. The problem is most of the non-alcoholic beer he tried tasted awful and there really was almost nothing in terms of variety. Unfortunately the long-standing stigma surrounding non-alcoholic beer has been well deserved. That is until now! He launched Partake Brewing to bring all the things that make craft beer great to non-alcoholic beer drinkers including taste, variety, authenticity, creativity, and passion. Non-alcoholic beer drinkers want to Partake in the craft beer journey with everyone else. Why? Because we’re beer lovers too. Episode 74 with Artist Bobby J From Rockaway
Taken from www.bobbyjfromrockaway.com Jay Electronica said it best to a packed house in Brooklyn after hearing Bobby rap for the first time - “This man right here is a bearer of witness that times are changing. This man has BARS!” Growing up in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY, Bobby was immersed in a plethora of musical inspiration — from his mother’s love of classic rock to his father’s affinity for disco, soul & Motown. It was his brother though who, aside from grunge & metal, introduced him to Hip Hop. “He was my gateway drug,” Bobby says. Bobby began his ascent into the industry at the young age of 13 when he met "The Rhythm” rapper Kwamé, who at the time had begun his reemergence in the industry as a producer. “I honestly don't even think I could rap when I met him,” Bobby admits. “Kwamé saw something early on & just took me under his wing. He coached me on how to make the transition into making records.” Ultimately, Bobby, whose sound & style are an ode to the era that birthed him, hopes his music can help inspire the imagination of new listeners. “I would like to be one of the artists of today that someone who's 11, 12 years old that may be getting into Hip Hop can look up to. That's somebody I aspire to be.” If you would like to follow Bobby and his musical journey head over to his Instagram page and check him out @bobbyjfromrockaway! Episode 72 with Alpha Hippie Angelo Sisco
On October 15th, 2002, Angelo Sisco was involved in a hit and run motorcycle accident that changed his life forever. In an instant, he went from being a 20-year-old entrepreneur to someone fighting to save his leg and his way of life. After 8 surgeries, two months in a hospital bed, 5 months of daily rehab and the encouraging news from his doctors that any kind of athletics is permanently out of the question, Angelo fell into a deep depression. In 2009 he discovered CrossFit and everything changed once again. He had a new focus. He had a new purpose. He lost 100 pounds, which catapulted a 10-year journey that he couldn’t even imagine. During the 2010’s, Angelo opened O’Hare CrossFit and CrossFit Harwood Heights, consulted over 400 CrossFit Affiliates worldwide, co-founded Lifestyle Nutrition and Conquer Athlete, became an international speaker on how to succeed as an Affiliate owner, and coached multiple CrossFit Games competitors. Angelo’s success in coaching and business gave him the confidence to begin what he would consider his most important journey of them all; his self-development, which he began in 2015. After years of deep inner work, reflection, and growth Angelo titled his journey of self-discovery, Alpha Hippie. In true Angelo Sisco fashion, he followed what inspired him and began sharing his message through his podcast Alpha HIppie, and began mentoring other men on their path to self-discovery. In late 2019, Angelo realized he was at a crossroads in his career. A choice had to be made; to either stay in a place of comfort or to step into the identity that was calling him: Alpha Hippie. Angelo chose to step fully into Alpha Hippie. In 2020, the most unprecedented time in our recent history, Angelo removed himself from all business ventures that were CrossFit related, moved his new family to San Clemente, California, and partnered up with Markus Gerszi and Ryan Bucciantini to embark on a renewed and more focused version of Alpha Hippie. Alpha Hippie’s mission is to help overwhelmed men over 30, who are stuck in stress and burnout, reconnect to their mission and rebuild their lifestyle, so they can enjoy their free time again and get back to crushing it at work. Alpha Hippie share’s their mission via their men’s Facebook group “The Way of the Courageous Man”, the Alpha Hippie Podcast, and their world-class program for men entitled Alpha Hippie Mastery. Episode 69 with former OHL'er Elijah Roberts
This was taken from an article written by William Douglas on www.nhl.com Elijah Roberts has his eyes on the prize. But he also has a Plan B, just in case. Roberts, a 21-year-old undrafted defenseman who was an overage player in the Ontario Hockey League last season, is still chasing his dream of playing in the NHL by taking a longer, less-traveled route. He's committed to play in 2020-21 for Ryerson University in Toronto, where he's enrolled in the sport media program. He's already putting his hockey and budding media skills to use as co-host of Soul On Ice: The Podcast with award-winning filmmaker Kwame Damon Mason and Los Angeles Kings forward prospect Akil Thomas. The podcast recently joined the NHL stable of podcasts. "It's still Plan A to play pro," said Roberts, who scored 108 points (23 goals, 85 assists) in 294 OHL games for Niagara and Kitchener. "My main goal is to come out of Ryerson, get a contract and hopefully still make the NHL." But working in sports media, specifically broadcasting, is Roberts' Plan B. Studying it in college and co-hosting the podcast is giving Roberts a head start in the business, whether it's after a professional playing career or if he doesn't reach the pros. "Getting the chance to do this podcast; to learn from Kwame, who's been in radio for over 30 years, and with certain guests that we have -- (Hockey Night in Canada hosts) Ron MacLean and David Amber -- to learn from some of those guys has taught me a lot," he said. "It's going to give me a big advantage, and I'm learning a lot already." Roberts listens attentively to his on-air guests and soaks up critiques that some of the guests and Mason, director of the 2015 Black hockey history documentary "Soul on Ice: Past, Present & Future," offer when the microphones are off. In this episode here are some of topics we cover: Playing with the Kitchener Rangers Ryerson University and studying sports media What made him interested in sports media? TRIGGER WARNINGS IN THIS EPISODE! Taken from her website www.laurendow.com Over the last ten years, travel became my way of life. I backpacked Europe and South America for almost a year, learning about new cultures and stepping beyond my comfort zone. Episode 63 with Holistic Healer Leah Quirk
Direct from Leah's website: www.soulnaturalhealth.com IG is @soulnaturalhealth  I am a very intuitive, shamanic healer that through darkness has found light. I have always been highly sensitive and never understood it. I spent majority of my life feeling isolated and trying to numb emotions I felt guilty for having. We compromise ourselves so much for others yet where does that leave us? I understand today, I have always been empathic and had special gifts, I just did not understand it then or how to navigate it. I suppressed so much trauma and pain through isolation, addiction, sex and conditioning my happiness to others. My main goal in life was not to feel. I had a sick body, mind and spirit that manifested into many chronic health issues. I exhausted all I could in Western medicine and got tired of feeling at a brick wall. I realized then that the world is so much bigger than what we know. This sparked a whole journey into healing as whole. I was tired of playing the victim and waiting for someone to save me. I realized I am the only person responsible for myself. I decided I wasn’t going to settle anymore and accept the labels doctors had given me. I was willing to do everything in my power to change my life around. Today I acknowledge that our struggles are necessary for growth. I was blessed to be in isolation for so long that it dove me deep into my divine truth. I realized all I needed was my intuition which is the power of God to guide me. I dedicated two years to intensive work clearing and restoring my health. Once I switched over to a clean, natural lifestyle, I started to realize how literally everything is connected and this began my journey into spirituality. This dove me into Ayurveda, Energy Work and understanding the Law of Attraction. Coming from a girl who felt entirely hopeless and constantly cheating death, I am now standing strong utilizing my empathic gifts to help others release the pain body and gain more awareness into self. I want to empower others to be their own self advocates, peel back the layers to their divine truth and move beyond self-limiting belief patterns. If only we could view every challenge as an initiation to get closer to God. Everything we are creating through the law of attraction and is essentially designed to show us where we are creating resistance in our lives. Life does not have to be a struggle unless you believe it to be. The door is wide open all the time, we just can’t see it. It is our minds that tell us it is closed yet if we have the power to create that thought we have the power to change it. I ask you to be kind and patient with yourself. I have to remind myself this at times. It takes courage to face yourself and acknowledge your truth, it's not always pretty. Our body holds onto everything, every emotion, feeling, thought we suppress. This damages our cells and creates disfunction in the body and can be the primary source of most health conditions. This is why reiki is so powerful to help release cellular memory. We must feel everything we did not allow ourselves to feel in the past. This can be a process but we can let it go and be free. It is possible and I am living proof. Healing takes time and there is no end result. We just get better at handling the situations and learn to not attach. It can just be an experience. I promise every experience will teach you more about yourself. You are the one creating them. The shows intro is brought to you by recording artist John Maksym, you can check out all of his music over on Spotify, or Apple iTunes. Episode 61 with Community Leader and Keynote Speaker Roland Vandal
It’s been a long journey for Roland Vandal, from suicide attempts and drug addiction to mentoring young Manitoba boxers at the Canada Winter Games. The coach of the Team Manitoba squad travels the country giving talks to young people about his recovery from addiction, and makes the case that boxing can rescue teens who might follow his path. He says he dropped out of his sport at 13 years of age and descended into a life of drug addiction. Vandal recalls reaching a personal low in May 15, 2002, the day he went into a violent seizure after drinking a bottle of methadone and woke up barely breathing on a dirty bathroom floor in a cheap hotel. “That was the wake-up call. I haven’t touched a drop of drugs or alcohol since,” he said during a training session at the Games in Halifax. After treatment at a Winnipeg detoxification centre, he returned to the sport at 31 and has since become a coach, motivational speaker, foster parent and guide to “kids at risk.” “I always had the yearning to go back to boxing. It was in my blood,” he said. “It’s changed my life. It gives me focus and direction and a sense of commitment and accountability to the boys.” Vandal’s website, breakingthechain.ca, says he’s given hundreds of motivational talks. “Our ultimate goal is to inspire people to make the right choices,” says the site. Matt Bonne said Vandal’s blunt words help keep him off the streets. The 15-year-old Manitoba boxer said he’s gone from selling drugs to other teenagers to competing for his province at the Games. “I turned my life around and I realized this is the life for me. This is the life I’d rather have,” Bonne said. While the sport may not be genteel, Vandal argues it’s often a bridge from street life to success. Bonne said being asked to try out for the Canada Winter Games helped him avoid a return to using drugs last year. “The Canada Games came along as an opportunity and my coach asked me to be in that…I started training again and here I am,” he said. The young athlete was eliminated in the early rounds of the 56-kilogram weight class but was pleased with his personal improvement in his sport. “Compared to how I was before I just changed around to a brighter side.” Julien Carneiro, a 15-year-old boxer from Winnipeg, also argues that boxing pulls teenagers out of street life. “A lot of the kids on the street get into street life…So boxing is a good way out of that because you get to still fight, which brings out the animal in you,” he said. Vandal chimes in: “Boxing takes the fight out of the kid. It doesn’t put the fight into the kid.” Vandal’s body is covered with tattoos, including images of his son and of his website. It’s a reminder his life of addiction is over, he says. “I got too much to lose these days,” he said. When a moment of doubt enters his mind, he recalls the turning point, lying on that filthy floor wondering if he would live another day. “I remember when I was dying on that bathroom floor. I thought of those coaches and those principals and all of those people who helped me,” he said. “Now I really believe it’s my duty to pay it forward.” You can follow the show over on Instagram @depthsofdarkside or email to inquire about being on the show at depthsofdarkside@gmail.com The intro is provided by good friend John Maksym and you can follow his journey on IG @johnmaksymusic

Episode 43 with mental health advocate and author Darcy Patrick
In this episode we sit down and have a great chat with Canadian author Darcy Patrick!  We dig into his childhood, and what led him to a long battle with depression that started when he was in grade school!  He walks us through him making the call for help and what led him to becoming an author with the help or more so push from his therapist.  He has now written several books over the last 7 years since taking up writing. He teaches courses for many different organizations and has even created some of his own courses as well. He works with the Canadian Military, teaching his creative writing course.  You can purchase anyone of his books from his website www.darcypatrick.com  Taken from his website: After a month of intense therapy my therapist started giving me home work. I would hand it in weekly, we would talk about what I had written and worked on changing my negative thoughts, changing the way I was seeing the world, it was working in ways I never dreamed possible. She told me I was a natural writer and that if I wrote a book I could change 1000’s of people lives who suffer in silence, who are too afraid to reach out and get help. Four years later I released my book “Why I Run” My story of how I won my life back from the darkness of depression. Since the release of my book my life has changed dramatically. I have become a public speaker doing talks all around Southern Ontario for many different mental health originations to raise awareness on depression and mental health. Episode 40 with Nashville Recording Artist Nick Johsnon
In episode 40 I had the pleasure of sitting down with talented recording artist who resides in Nashville, Tennessee.  (Below taken from www.musicbynickjohnson.com) Brooklyn born, Berklee trained multi-instrumentalist Nick Johnson has followed his musical passion from his hometown of New York, to Boston, Los Angeles and now – Nashville, Tennessee – all in pursuit of synthesizing that perfect formula for success. After honing his chops with regional touring bands – and getting a firsthand taste of the true Nashville scene with a long tenure on the fabled and competitive Broadway circuit in Music City – Johnson was ready to launch his solo career proper from the heartland of America. Johnson – known nationally for his solid six-string skills – is no stranger to making a big splash recently scoring two of his own songs on the big screen via major Hollywood releases (“She’s So Lonely”/Bill Murray Experience, “Playmate”/Party Bus To Hell). Now, the in-demand guitarist is writing a new script with a debut record that will soon see him take on a leading role as compelling artist with a story of his own to tell. Episode 36 with Rudy "El Patronn" Treminio
Rudy Treminio is an entrepreneur who has defied all odds to get to the place where he is today. Many people would have accepted the circumstances Rudy was given as an immigrant with no education, being a young father, incarcerated with nothing in his favor, but that was far from the case. It was Rudy’s never faltering dedication to the goals he set for himself and passion for the industry he is in that led to his success. It takes a certain type of entrepreneurial individual to be able to see gaps or untouched industries, learn everything they can about it, and put fear aside to take the leap of faith into the industry. Three years ago Rudy put everything on the line, left the comforts of a W-2 and a 9-5 job, learned everything he needed to know to be successful, and started his own business in the automotive industry. Since Rudy Treminio didn’t receive the proper education as a child and immigrant, he felt from a very young age that he had to work harder than the rest and defy all odds against him. Rudy Treminio didn’t want just to be known as the “Car guy” so he dabbled into each part of the industry and used all of our modern-world technology to become resourceful and knowledgeable. He knew that by learning every inch of the field it would make him unique and stand out from the rest. Rudy differentiates himself from the competition due to his personal branding. He branded his name in the industry as “El Patronn” so that customers recognize his Brand identity and know who he is. Brand identity is the visible elements of a brand; design, color, or logo, that distinguish the brand in the customers mind. “El Patronn” as he is known in the industry put himself out there like no other person in the automotive industry has done. His goal by doing this was to stand out in a crowd and be the hardest working person in any room. Episode 31 with King of the Crows Wild The Coyote
In this weeks episode, I sit down and chat with recording artist out of Hollywood, California, one half of the "Swamp Gang" Wild The Coyote!  Funny little story about this guest, I actually met him while I was at a Yelawolf concert in London, Ontario back in 2019! Him and BADD Wolf opened up for him while on his Canadian leg of the tour!  Wild the Coyote used to be apart of a hard rock band, before embarking on a solo career! He is such a humbled and down to earth dude, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone! We talk about his love for music starting at such a young age, growing up in wine country in California! His real love for music really started when Green Days Dookie album came out back in the early 90s! He really wanted to be like Billy Joe Armstrong!  He is now a very successful solo artist with many great songs in his library! My most favourite to date is Old Man!  Credit submithub.com for the below words Wild the Coyote is a folk-rock musician who blurs the lines of genres and reimagines traditional forms of performance and storytelling. From the small country town of Templeton on California's central coast, his influences range from country legend Johnny Cash, Puddles Pity Party, & Yelawolf. In Summer 2017 he debuted new single and video for “The Boondocks,” from upcoming EP “The Phantom and the Black Crow,” which will showcase his newest blend of sounds including country, trip hop, and blues. Wild the Coyote's live show is a captivating experience full of Wild West inspired antics and gloom. In 2016, he sold out venues such as the world-renowned Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, and held multiple residencies, most recently at Hollywood's famous Hotel Cafe. Catalyzed by his 2016 release of "The Man on Top of the Hill" and "The Hollow Woods" featured on his Pandora station and YouTube channel, Wild the Coyote has garnered a loyal following in LA and beyond, as well as a significant online fan base.
