As you're entering into this new year, do not allow yourself to pause. We've probably been in that state of pause for most of 2020, not by anything that we could control, but this is not what we want to take into 2021 even though naturally that would be the direction.

So go ahead and put some career goals in place for yourself for this year. Allow resiliency to step in and take control, showing that you do have what it takes to pick up from where we left off in 2020 and move forward in 2021.

2020 has been an unprecedented year and if you're like me, you've had personal challenges, personal losses, personal difficulties, professional challenges, professional losses, unbelievable professional difficulties, but you're still here.

That's why, as I've been reflecting on this year and thinking about what it meant in my life, the word RESILIENCE kept popping up for me. That is my word for 2021.

It's one thing to be the best in the room. It's totally another thing when you're the best in the room, but you have no supporters. And it creates an atmosphere around you that completely counters what you're trying to accomplish. 

So you cannot get to your seat at the table by yourself. This is not something you can do alone.

In spite of workplace bias, circumstances, and situations, if we just get out of our own way, we can have career growth and we can get the seat at the table. 

We aspire to the executive ranks, but we have to understand that leaders are defined by the influence, not by the title. Leaders are defined by how you inspire and motivate people to follow you and allow you to lead them to an end goal. And that's what I'm here to help you achieve. 

Getting the tasks done are one thing. That's the work we do. But the job holistically is made up of other aspects, which is extremely important, to have the right attitude to show up. And if you say you want to be that leader, leaders are not defined by titles alone.
