In this episode I'm talking about the logevity and versatility of blog content. You'll want to start blogging, if you're not already, after you hear this. If you are already blogging I also have some tips for you in how to write about searchable topics, and repurpose your blog into countless pieces of content to reach more people online.

Now, a quick Google search on any topic will like yield results that include blog posts from various websites. You don't have to be a major player either to have your blogs rank in Google. Anyone can have their blogs showing up in Google. What's more is blogs have a long shelf life, a very long shelf life. I have done searches on Google and some of the top results were blogs from over five years ago. Five-year-old blog content still getting traction.

As businesses we often put a lot of effort into creating content to bring awareness to our brand online. And we often put a lot of that effort into social media (as you should!) but the content has a very short shelf life and you do not own the platform. With blogging you own it and you can have people reading it for years to come.

It was recently reported that Google was no longer the number one website. In fact, it was TikTok that took the top spot in 2021 and into 2022. TikTok an app that launched just 5 years ago. Since it took the top spot it was also reported that Millennials and GenZ are now using TikTok and Instagram to search for services in stead of Google.

As of the release of this podcast, Google is back to the top spot, however, this doesn't change the fact that the digital landscape is changing. So, what does this mean for your business?

The digital landscape is always changing and therefore our marketing efforts need to constantly be adjusted to be most effective. A common misconception I often hear is that branding is the same as marketing, marketing is advertising, or marketing is the same as sales, or even as far as “we don’t need branding,” or “we don’t need marketing.” But, actually these are all very distinct areas of business with very different purposes and every business needs them all to work together in order to win customers and sell.

I’ve heard business owners say that they don’t need some of these crucial areas of business and well that’s just not entirely possible.

I heard someone say in passing once that “Oh no we don’t need branding.”  But when you say that, what you’re actually saying is…

You don’t need to know the purpose of your business or how to share that message with your potential clients. You don’t need to know the value that your company brings to it’s clients. And you don’t want to offer a great client experience. Because all of that IS branding. Branding is not just a logo. A logo is simply the visual representation of it. Branding is the foundation of your business and who you are.
