Why asking "why" is the WORST question you could ever ask yourself

Why asking "why" is the WORST question you could ever ask yourself

The Power of Choice: Why asking "why" is the WORST question you could ever ask yourself

In episode 258 of the Full Frontal Living podcast, Lisa emphasizes the power of choice and the detrimental effects of constantly asking "why" in self-reflection.

Lisa begins by sharing her commitment to going back to her spontaneous podcasting roots and the realization that she has been overthinking her messages due to the pressure of video recording and societal expectations of appearance.

She challenges listeners to examine how often they hold themselves back from showing up authentically due to self-imposed paradigms and the need to conform to external standards.

Lisa delves into the negative impact of asking "why" questions, explaining how they keep individuals anchored in the past and obstruct their ability to move forward. She encourages listeners to shift their focus from dwelling on the "why" to making conscious choices about who they want to become.

The episode highlights the tendency for individuals to use "why" questions as a means of self-sabotage, keeping themselves stuck and avoiding taking action. Lisa underscores the importance of questioning the true benefits of constantly asking "why" and the role of self-judgment in this pattern.

Throughout the episode, Lisa shares personal experiences and coaching insights, stressing the significance of moving away from the "why" mindset and embracing a forward-facing approach to personal growth and decision-making.

Listeners are encouraged to release the grip of "why" questions and instead consider alternative inquiries that empower them to take action and create the transformations they desire. Lisa highlights the need for radical honesty and self-awareness in acknowledging the benefits individuals derive from their choices, even in the face of familiar suffering.

Join Lisa on this transformative journey as she explores the power of choice and the liberation that comes from relinquishing the binds of "why" questioning.

How To Thrive As A Parent Of A Neurodivergent Child With Sara Intonato

How To Thrive As A Parent Of A Neurodivergent Child With Sara Intonato

Today, in episode 252 of The Full Frontal Living™ Podcast I'm diving into a touching and deeply transformative conversation with my special guest, Sara Intonato, a consultant, yoga teacher, coach, and beacon of hope for parents with neurodiverse children, who has carved a new path for families seeking empowerment and understanding.

Fueled by her own experiences as a parent of a child with autism, Sara transformed her life and learned to transcend the shame, blame, martyrdom and victim mentality that many families with neurodiverse children succumb to.

Sara shares the journey that led her to create a comforting community for parents who felt alone and misunderstood, while coping with the diagnosis of their child. She talks about what it looks like to take an empowered role as a parent and not put 100% of the focus on your child, but also allowing yourself to thrive.

Sara opens up about her personal struggles and turning points, as well as how she harnessed the principles of yoga for self-healing and clarity amid the chaos. She will also discuss the importance of parents committing to their personal well-being, as much as they do for their children, thus recovering from an often below the surface martyrdom syndrome, which can lead to severe burnout and chronic health issues.

Sara highlights how this syndrome disrupts the sensitive regulatory systems of neurodiverse children, who then struggle to prosper in the face of parental stress. Learn about practical tools and strategies that not only empower parents but create a nurturing environment for the entire family.

Join us also as we delve into Sara's best-selling book, “Emotional Healing for Parents with Children of Autism,” which recounts her family’s journey and serves as a beacon of solace and guidance for parents experiencing similar situations.

Chronic Positivity vs Emotional Resilience. Why All Your Emotions Matter

Chronic Positivity vs Emotional Resilience. Why All Your Emotions Matter

Welcome back to another episode of the Full Frontal Living podcast. Today, Lisa is diving deep into emotional bypassing also known as toxic positivity.

This is a common behavior that many of us engage in without even realizing it. In episode 247, Lisa will be exploring what emotional bypassing is and why it's so important to recognize and address it in our lives.

It's undeniable that the world is going through some incredibly challenging times. As someone who deeply feels the weight of these events, she understands firsthand the struggle of navigating such heavy emotions. In her own journey, she's often found herself trying to escape the pain by getting lost in her thoughts, attempting to rationalize and understand it all. But the truth is, there are some things that we will never fully comprehend, like violence, hatred, and cruelty.

However, in times like these, it becomes even more crucial to lean into the foundational principles of emotional resiliency that she teaches. It's about finding ways to support our emotional well-being, especially when we're faced with such overwhelming circumstances. And this brings us to the heart of today's discussion: emotional bypassing and toxic positivity.

I was inspired to explore this topic after coming across a thought-provoking post by The Holistic psychologist. She eloquently articulated the concept of emotional bypassing as a coping mechanism, particularly through toxic positivity.

Gratitude is a powerful tool that can help shift our perspective, and there's a difference between using gratitude as a way to avoid or bypass our true emotions and being willing to sit with and experience those uncomfortable feelings.

Why do people resort to emotional bypassing?

It stems from being disassociated from our own emotions, because of the difficulty in sitting with the heavier, darker emotions that make us uncomfortable. And in a culture that glorifies chronic positivity and denies the existence of negative emotions, it's easy to see why bypassing becomes a prevalent coping mechanism.

Throughout this episode, Lisa explores the signs of emotional bypassing and its impact on ourselves and our relationships. She approaches this discussion with curiosity, kindness, and compassion, recognizing that we've all been guilty of emotional bypassing at some point in our lives. It's time to shift the focus from judgment to understanding as we delve deeper into the journey of emotional resilience.

How To Master Fear And Doubt To Take Control Of Your Life

How To Master Fear And Doubt To Take Control Of Your Life

Welcome to episode 245 of the Full Frontal Living podcast!

In today's master class episode, we're going to dive deep into the topic of how to master fear and doubt and take control of your life. We all face fear and doubt, no matter how successful we are or what we've accomplished. But the key is learning how to navigate these emotions in a powerful way. In this episode, we'll explore the role of fear and doubt, and how they can actually be valuable tools for growth. We'll also discuss a step-by-step process to help you move past your fears and doubts and step into your full potential. So get ready to discover the tools and strategies to conquer your fears and doubts and take control of your life. Let's dive in!

[00:00:36] Taking responsibility for fear and doubt is crucial. Regardless of how successful you may be, these emotions will always arise. Learning how to effectively deal with them is essential for personal growth. Moving past fear requires a strategy. In this episode, Lisa will provide the tool she uses personally to navigate through fear and doubt.

[00:03:54] Fear is meant to keep you safe, but can't differentiate between real and imagined threats. Determine if fear is genuine by distinguishing between real dangers and imagined scenarios in your mind. Fear and doubt aim to protect you.

[00:06:21] Naming and understanding fear; questioning worst-case scenario.

[00:09:21] The best thing is to see how crazy our fear is, and not give emotions too much meaning. Diffuse fear, doubt, and laugh at ourselves because life is meant to be fun. Most fears are just made up.

[00:14:37] The process helps to take action, laugh at oneself, and live fully.

[00:15:33] Partner with emotions, listen, distill. Create your desired life. Apply to work with Lisa at lisacarpenter.ca/collective

What You Want Is Ready For You To Say Yes Today

What You Want Is Ready For You To Say Yes Today

In this inspiring episode #236 of the Full Frontal Living™ podcast, Lisa shares her perspective on a common but limiting pattern of thinking – the "when-then" mindset.

Many of us are guilty of postponing our desires and aspirations, waiting for the "perfect moment" or conditions to be met before we give ourselves permission to enjoy what we want.

Lisa draws from personal experiences, revealing how she fell into this trap and how it kept her from realizing her desires, from taking time off to making long-awaited purchases.

Lisa dives into the topic of self-acknowledgment, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and honoring one's own achievements. She also discusses the fallacy of waiting for the "perfect" condition to seek help or support, and how immediate action can accelerate your progress towards your goals.

What is one 'when-then' belief you're ready to let go of? How will you say 'YES' to yourself and bring what you desire into your life today?

If Your Life Was Over Tomorrow, Would You Feel Proud Of How You Lived?

If Your Life Was Over Tomorrow, Would You Feel Proud Of How You Lived?

In episode 234 Lisa is sharing her reflections about what it looks like to live a life you're proud of and how much energy it costs to stay stuck in fear, worry, doubt and feeling unfulfilled.

If you were to die tomorrow, would you be proud of how you lived? Would you look at your life and feel happy about the choices you made and how you spent your precious time on this earth?

Sometimes we experience pain and discomfort as a slow burn over months and years, and sometimes life changes so quickly that it takes your breath away.

Both provide unique opportunities to re-evaluate your life and take inventory of what's important to you, what you want, and what you might need to let go and leave behind.

When life changes, there is no going back... and moving forward often comes with a tremendous amount of discomfort and grief.

(Episode 230: How to manage your energy when you're navigating grief is a complimentary episode to today)

Staying stuck in frustration, fear, overwhelm, exhaustion, resentment, anger and uncertainty will cost you MORE energy than if you embrace the power of surrender. Surrender and letting go isn't easy for most of the men and women Lisa works with AND it is possible.

It's the key to living a more peaceful life that you can feel proud of at the end of the day.

If you feel like you're not living into your potential and struggle with letting go, this episode is for you.

The Power of Structure, Training, and Personal Responsibility for Health with Jose Perez

The Power of Structure, Training, and Personal Responsibility for Health with Jose Perez

In this episode, Lisa speaks with Jose Perez, a personal trainer, and online fitness coach who shares his inspiring journey from property management to the fitness industry. After realizing that his previous career didn't bring him happiness, Jose made the courageous decision to leave his job and prioritize his health. He fell into fitness, starting with a focus on his own well-being, and eventually transitioned into becoming a personal trainer. Jose highlights the importance of making decisive life choices and following the breadcrumbs that lead to personal growth and fulfillment.

Virtual training became a game-changer for Jose and his clients, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. By leveraging technology and conducting sessions via platforms like Zoom, he was able to provide efficient and effective training while saving clients precious time. The convenience of virtual training allows busy professionals, such as CEOs and entrepreneurs, to prioritize their health without sacrificing their demanding schedules. Jose emphasizes the vital role that health plays in the overall success and urges listeners to understand that taking care of oneself is essential for achieving personal and professional goals.

Jose emphasizes the importance of structure, discipline, and training in achieving success, both in fitness and in life.

They also address the common misconceptions and complications surrounding fitness and nutrition. Jose emphasizes that effective training doesn't have to be complicated and time-consuming, debunking the belief that one needs hours in the gym to achieve results. They discuss the possibility of completing a comprehensive workout within just 25 to 30 minutes with smart programming.

The conversation then shifts to the challenges people face in prioritizing their health and the lack of personal responsibility seen in society. Lisa questions why individuals are resistant to taking charge of their own well-being, especially when it comes to their physical health. They both stress the importance of making time for oneself and the need to overcome the mentality of putting everything and everyone else before personal health.

Additionally, they address the complex relationship many people have with food and how it often becomes an emotional crutch or a source of struggle. They advocate for changing the mindset around food, viewing it as fuel for the body rather than a source of emotional comfort. They provide practical strategies for simplifying nutrition.

In conclusion, Lisa and Jose discuss the societal pressure and expectations placed on women as they age, highlighting the need to challenge these norms and strive for vibrant health and vitality throughout life. They emphasize that investing in one's health now will pay off in the long run, enabling individuals to maintain their physical abilities and enjoy life to the fullest as they age.

Are you BUSY? Most of the women Lisa works with are juggling many balls and spinning way too many plates however it doesn't need to be this way. If you want to have more time and energy in today's episode 228 Lisa is sharing a tool she uses with many of her clients to determine what specifically is keeping them so busy.

You may not yet even realize how many busy things you're in the habit of doing which means you're operating on autopilot and not being intentional with your time or energy. You always have the power to choose how you're spending your time however, first, it takes an awareness of where and how you're spending time and energy so that you can make adjustments. Many of you stay stuck in circumstances and allow life to run you instead of it being the other way around because you're not looking at what you can change. Living from "it is what it is" will keep you on the hamster wheel of life and not feeling empowered.

To change your life you must first take an honest look at what you're so busy with and today's episode will empower you to get honest and take responsibility for your time and energy.
