Live from The Winston

By Durban is Yours

A podcast in which Neil Green and Bob Perfect spend a ridiculous amount of time discussing things very few people care about- VERY passionately!

It's frantic, incoherent and wildly inappropriate. We think you will like it...

Constitutional Law and Botany feat. Maggie Brown

Constitutional Law and Botany feat. Maggie Brown

Live from The Winston brings in our official Legal Counsel Maggie Brown to discuss a minor constitutional law change you may have heard about.

We discuss the exact legalities of everything around the unimportant announcement and other legal stuff including how to prepare for a jail visit if you end up going.

There is some other chit chat but really we came here to discuss one topic and one topic only this week!

Enjoy!

Disclaimer: None of the legal advice we give out here constitutes actual legal advice. Although the one about the tinfish can is very handy

Appreciating artists after they are gone in the wake of Mac Miller's passing
The Cosmo Cover situation
Boity spitting that hot fiyaaaah
Legendary Women MC's from South Africa
Shoplifting Tecchniques
and more...

Sugar Hotdogs & Airzees

Sugar Hotdogs & Airzees

So look here. Robby Collins joined the podcast. It was either the best idea or the worst idea depending on your personal tastes.

This is not safe for work. Do not listen if you are offendable. We cannot stress this enough. If you are the type of person who gets offended by anything at all. Please skip this podcast.

Everybody else come on in and listen to us discuss:

Adam Catz aka Mr Slegs Blankes
Types of Nudity
Intellectual Property
The Monkey Serial Killer

This is a wild WILD episode.

Domestic Violence Cluedo

There's a lot we can get sued about. Come enjoy it now before the lawsuit kicks in and we have to take it down...

Eisenstein's Criterion & Hypothetical Churches feat Mojak Lehoko

Eisenstein's Criterion & Hypothetical Churches feat Mojak Lehoko

Mojak Lehoko jets in from Joburg to join our disjointed discussion. Leah Jasmine gives us a first-hand account of the 1st of August March against Gender Based Violence. Carvin Goldstone is around so that's always best case scenario. Bob finally admits to being Coloured. We also discuss:

The Role of the ANC in Feminism
Privilege and Power Dynamics
Accents
When you know a Job interview is not going your way
Who's allowed to do good deeds with their money
Viral Video Comedians

Didgeridoos and Didgeridon'ts

Didgeridoos and Didgeridon'ts

Whew... We did this one Live from the stage at the Heat City Comedy Festival in front of like 50 people. It was especially great.

What made it even greater was having Leah Jazz come through as our guest, voice of reason, moderator, educator and so many other things. Also our main man Carvin Goldstone was on stage and we discussed:

Deon Govender's now infamous Facebook post
Trevor Noah 2013 tastelessness
Leon Schuster
Eddie Murphy
Whether we should censor ourselves
Women in Comedy

And so much more... It's wilder and more shouty than normal. Which is saying a lot... We know we say this every week - but this is the best one so far. For realsies this time.

Alfie's Choice, Daryl's Globes

Alfie's Choice, Daryl's Globes

So there was a thing that happened with the Comics Choice Awards this week. We discuss that... at LENGTH. Childishly in some places because we ARE comedians and we never miss a chance to poke fun. Surprisingly on balance, we feel like we were pretty grown up about the whole thing.

We were DEFINITELY and entirely childish about laughing about the OTHER beef that made headlines this week.

Andrew Hughes also joined us but tried as hard as possible to say nothing about these first two topics, but then started throwing out wild adlibs regarding Nasty C's Strings and Bling and the Heat City Comedy Festival.

We're expecting high traffic this week :)

Mickey's Wardrobe

Mickey's Wardrobe

It's a cracking episode! Rapper Jet Wentworth joins us and we don't know if he thought it was just going to be a nice visit to discuss and promote his new single. It wasn't... In fact, he hardly discussed the single at all. Instead, we argued loudly and over each other about:

Scorpion
The role of promoters
Jet's past beef
and a lot more...

If there was ever going to be an episode where you learn something useful - Bob's take on the difference between a true promoter and an event co-ordinator is sobering and uncomfortable and so accurate.

Don't worry the rest of the hour is the shrieking half formed arguments you are used to.

Exposing Season

Exposing Season

We promise we recorded this Podcast last Wednesday. Before the latest round of Russel Peters accusations. Then that happened... The idea of us being prescient should terrify you all considering the shit we talk about.

Accurate psychic predictions aside - we discuss Lupe Fiasco for SO LONG - skip to 30:30 if you want to miss all that, but if you do, you will also miss out on the fact that Curt Wilson arrived with an actual human date (kind of), the story of Bob meeting Rick Astley, and a whole bunch of other stuff. But mostly Lupe.

Then we discuss if Nasty C's Bad Hair is actually a good album at all.
Stealing of Jokes and other Intellectual Property.
Our Top 5 (3) Durban Albums.
The Importance of TRO.
and more...

Where's My Cat?

Where's My Cat?

Carvin Goldstone joins us and we thought just his presence would make us sound smarter and more sensible in general. Also, that he would curb our instincts to say controversial shit. That didn't happen at all... In this episode we discuss: AKA's new album for 18mins without discussing the music at all. Who's really responsible for animal sacrifices. Whether we have to be sad that XXXTentacion Died. The Mail & Guardian. Capitalising on Wokeness and MUCH MORE! It's loud and screechy and full of swearing and its good.

Aux Cable Thugs

Aux Cable Thugs

This weeks episode we ramble aimlessly about:

Big Sean, Nasty C, and some problematic lyrics
A very weird video game and E3 in general
Ubers and creepy people that work in retail

There's some other stuff. It's a great episode. By this particular podcasts standards - not by podcast standards in general.

Apologies if Bob sounds extra understandable in this one - he's going through a lucid phase due to curtailing a particular habit of his.

"Are You A Zulu?"

"Are You A Zulu?"

Ok so look here. This started off fine and ended with a self aware racist heckler causing it to implode in on itself. I'm not even saying that thats bad. It was just messy and it was fucken art in itself so we refuse to edit it or cut it out.

Before that happened we managed to discuss:
Drake and Pusha T (we recorded Wednesday so it wasn't done to death then - even if it is kind of now)
Why Drug Dealers Love Dragonball Z
How Internet Cafes Worked
Pokemon Go
Acting in Sci Fi Films
and Bob managed to squirm away from having to answer what does it mean to support local for REAL.

Attack of the Spice Worms

Attack of the Spice Worms

Welcome to the FIRST EPISODE of Live from the Winston.

A podcast in which Neil Green and Bob Perfect spend a ridiculous amount of time discussing things very few people care about- VERY passionately!

Come inside and listen to us discuss:
Frank Herbert vs L Ron Hubbard
Library Monitors vs Drummies
Drake vs Everybody, Why Cassper actually won the "Battle" with AKA
Shane Eagle, Vee Logs, Wrestling (a LOT of Wrestling, way more than we planned) and other stuff.

It's frantic, incoherent and wildly inappropriate. We think you will like it...
