“MY LIFE” Ep #87 Featuring Marcel McDaniel

“MY LIFE” Ep #87 Featuring Marcel McDaniel

“You can’t heal what you don’t reveal” The thing about healing is, it takes reflection, full out transparency and acceptance of the past. Even without full clarity or understanding, accepting that the things we’ve gone through are all a part of a bigger plan and we aren’t in control as much as we think. This weeks guest was the good brother Marcel McDaniel, he shared his story from being a gangster in the height of the crack era to now being a servant to young brothers who are on the same path that he once followed. He shared the value of fatherhood, how his wife had allowed him to be fully human, & why everyone has the capacity for change & growth. We met a year ago around this time as we started working on the film “MY LIFE”. At the time I had an idea of what story I wanted to tell, but during the process of production & editing, we quickly learned that God had a different plan for what story to tell.

In this weeks episode we sat down with an LYP Alum and family member, Producer, Artist & Grammy Award Winner Swoope. From there we get into the reflections of getting older, and learning things that no longer serve us today. “Finish…It’s Possible” Ep 84 Karl Majors

“Finish…It’s Possible” Ep 84 Karl Majors

None of us know how we will react and respond when tragedy happens. I pray that all of us can tap into some of the wisdom and courage that our guest Karl Majors gave me. Karl’s has worked in the world of finance for over 20 years, but this conversation we talked about his childhood growing up in Youngstown around substance, mental and physical abuse, lead him to Akron to pursue a career of nursing where he would ultimately meet his wife of almost 20 years before she tragically passed away from Breast Cancer almost 10 years ago. Karl was transparent, vulnerable & and a true testament to we are all stronger than we even know, but sometimes it takes pain and heartache to see so. We thank Karl for sharing his story. LYP 🌱

“Who bagged who?!” Episode #82 Ciara Dennis Morgan

“Who bagged who?!” Episode #82 Ciara Dennis Morgan

We invited Dr. C back!!!! Last time we spoke with her, she told us her own story, This time we went through the origin of how we originally got together, before marriage & kids, bringing up the question of “who bagged who?!”. We’ve never shared our story on camera so this was so much fun to re live that first date. For those who do not know John & Ciara’s first date wasn’t like most traditional dating nights, there’s involved an 8 hour car ride to NYC where they ultimately established a great foundation for what you see today. But the question remains…. WHO BAGGED WHO?! Listen today for the real answer and please give us your opinion on who you all think did the bagging in the poll and question attached to this episode!

“Black Boy Fly” featuring Anthony Isom/Barnhill Episode #81

“Black Boy Fly” featuring Anthony Isom/Barnhill Episode #81

In this week’s episode of LYP I sat with my friend Anthony Isom-Barnhill who I met years ago when him and I both worked at the Boys & Girls Club at a point where I now know to be divine. Everyone who’s ever had a job knows that if you keep a friend that you met at work AFTER you leave the job then yall REAL friends! lol We bonded & would talk about things most men do, sports, music, complain about our bosses, but our conversations would always evolve into spirituality, politics, even relationships. I even found out him and my mother share the same birthday! Crazy! This episode was all about watching & listening to two men display some of their vulnerable moments in a genuine way. He shared with me how it was for him meeting with his biological father as an adult, how creativity has been a healthy coping mechanism for him. After you listen to this episode ask yourself these few questions…. What is an early childhood memory you have of shame or embarrassment? When was an early childhood moment that had lasting impact? In what ways do you cope with stress? Positively or negatively? Who are my safe spaces to communicate my thoughts & feelings to? I respect my bro for sharing stuff most men would never tell anyone let alone the world. In a world where podcasts continue to make trash content, it’s important to me we give you real moments from real people. All 2024

“Good Schools” Featuring Kelley Williams Bolar Episode #80

“Good Schools” Featuring Kelley Williams Bolar Episode #80

In 2011 Kelley Williams-Bolar was convicted of lying about her residency to get her daughters into a better school district. In 2006 Kelley sent her daughters to school in Copley-Fairlawn School District. But it wasn't her Akron district of residence, so she was asked to remove her children from the district. 18 months after removing her daughters Kelley was sent an indictment from Copley schools. She was ultimately forced to spend 10 days in jail but her father was convicted also and later passed away in jail. This story is heartbreaking as it is another example of how oppressive this system is, this one highlighting the educational system. Kelley continues to advocate and fight for other families til this day. We thank you Kelley.

“Grief don’t always look the same” Episode #79 Delone Carter & Tyrus Dickerson

“Grief don’t always look the same” Episode #79 Delone Carter & Tyrus Dickerson

It’s been a min since we dropped anything podcast related. For a variety of different reasons… 1. I only want to share my space with people who genuinely care about the mission we are doing at LYP. Anything other than that don’t serve me. 2. I been focused on some of the other projects, while being a dad. Yo these kids mannnn… lol they make you EARN it 3. I’ve been grieving…. Hard. So I’ve been trying to slow down and allow myself to feel everything that comes with it. So sometimes the internet can be counter productive to that process. I recently sat with Delone Carter & Tyrus Dickerson nd we all shared our different experiences with grief. I recently lost my grandmother a few weeks ago and it’s shifted so many things about life that I once knew. Not to mention the grief of my Mother a few years ago still feels fresh in so many ways. Tyrus lost his mother almost 2 years ago at a pivotal time in his life while playing college football. I couldn’t imagine feeling that type of pain in my early 20s. Delone also lost his grandmother back in June and shares in this episode just how heavy the loss has been, but also shares the other side of it, which is how we can receive so much gratitude even in the darkest times. I appreciate these men for sharing their vulnerabilities on camera. So many of us experience some of the same things but in our own unique ways. If we each are willing to share our stories you’ll never know who you can help….. including yourself.

Episode #65 Deja & Channelle Redman “Work with what you have”

Episode #65 Deja & Channelle Redman “Work with what you have”

On this weeks episode of LYP we traveled to Columbus & sat down with Chanelle & Deja Redman owners of the the amazing restorative care and all around wellness facility Replenish, where they offer a variety of different services from body massages, face treatments & energy treatment to support you to boost vitality, strengthen your immune system and rebalance your bodies currency. I was introduced to replenish from Ciara early on when we first started dating. We’ve done couple massages, private yoga & mediation workshops at replenish. These two sisters talked to me about what they appreciated and remembered most about each other growing up as children and how their mothers dream & Gods divine order, would make Replenish a reality. After my mothers transition I’m always interested in hearing others peoples experience of grief and what they learned from it. Deja and Channelle recently experienced the transition of their grandmother who was the matriarch of their family, leading us to speak about being transformed through grief, and how birth can come through death, literally and metaphorically.

Episode #64 Archie Green “The Cope Dealer”

Episode #64 Archie Green “The Cope Dealer”

This weeks episode of LYP we sat down with Archie Green founder of the organization Peel Dem Layers Back where their mission is to culturally educate, empower and equip Black Men and Boys with essential tools necessary to live a mentally healthy life thru a Hip-Hop lens. Archie gave us his entire story from the impact of racial trauma as a child, battling alcoholism, and managing clinical depression & anxiety. From studying at Moorehouse to moving to New York to chase a music career dream where he’d seen early success, Archie quickly learned like many of us… God has his own plans. After catching a DUI Archie said he heard God speak to him directly and his life would forever be changed as he shortly after became intentional about his own healing & mental health, then forming his organization PDLB I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation because it was a great example of when Black Men share our stories we find out we have much more in common then we realize!! Brothers I pray we ALL take that step towards healing, finding a professional to talk to and being open to all forms of tools to help us manage our traumas. “You can’t heal what you don’t reveal”

Episode #63 Bishop Kenneth Paramore "GOD DID”

Episode #63 Bishop Kenneth Paramore "GOD DID”

This weeks episode on LYP we sat down with the legendary Bishop Kenneth Paramore

Ive been trying to be intentional about tapping in with my elders especially those in spiritual leadership to get some of their wisdom in these conversations. So having Bishop Paramore on was a no brainer!

Bishop Paramore talked to us about his backstory growing up in Youngstown being being a star athlete before a knee injury showed him God had other plans for his future which was to become a Preacher and Community Servant.

The OG gave me wisdom about marriage, leadership and why spending time with our children while their young is the most important thing a man can do.

As young dudes it’s important for us to have wise counsel to help guide us while becoming powerful leaders ourselves.

I’m genuinely thankful for this man’s words, time and service.

Episode #62 “JUSTICE 4 JAYLAND”

Episode #62 “JUSTICE 4 JAYLAND”

This weeks episode of LYP was dedicated to Jayland Walker, his family and friends & the entire city of Akron. I had the opportunity to sit with some of the faith leaders in our city Pastor Jeff Dennis of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and Pastor Lorenzo Glenn of Macedonia Baptist Church who have been diligently working behind the scenes to bring about appropriate justice for Jaylands tragic murder on June 27th. We also were joined by Dr. John Queener a Counseling Psychologist, the local president of National Black Psychology, and one of the most renowned clinicians in the country. This episode was recorded the day before Jaylands funeral, & I spoke to all of these Black Men about how they were taking care or their own mental health, and of course the next steps in seeing Jaylands family receive the proper justice by holding the Akron Police Department Accountable for their actions on June 27th. Spectrum Ohio did a segment to highlight the strength in collaborating with our local leaders right here in our city. I’m thankful for these men for being elders, men of God, & fearless community leaders who’s actions are often overlooked but never under appreciated. They spoke honest, vulnerable and left no punches in why this tragedy is completely inexcusable. JUSTICE 4 JAYLAND 🕊🙏🏾

Ep #61 w/ Jerreau “KEYS”

Ep #61 w/ Jerreau “KEYS”

In this weeks episode of LYP we traveled to LA & sat down with Ohios own Jerreau In 2020 a month before the world shutdown due to the global pandemic Jerreau dropped “KEYS” one of the best albums in that year & in my opinion one of the better rap albums and bodies of work in the last 5 years KEYS became autobiographical for Jerreau as he Raps about doing music since he was 5, battling with Survivors Remorse after loved ones passed away, and witnessing domestic violence as a child. KEYS went on to become the soundtrack for me personally during times of grief, joy and uncertainty as we all were quarantined during the pandemic. Jerreau proved that artists who show growth, vulnerability and provide thought provoking lyrics will always reign supreme no matter the circumstances of the world. In this convo we broke down some bars from KEYS, how as men we tend to block out some of our most traumatic experiences & more. 🌱 x 🔑

Episode #60 Monique McCrystal “Embrace Abundance”

Episode #60 Monique McCrystal “Embrace Abundance”

This weeks episode of LYP I gotta chance to sit down with Monique McCrystal who is the Co-Founder of The Yoga Carriage in Columbus and served as Ciara and I Doula during her 2nd pregnancy for our baby Sade.

This 2nd go round preparing to be a father again was a much different experience for me personally. I found myself struggling a lot with being present in it all and wasn’t able to enjoy it like I would’ve hoped and that comes with a tremendous amount of guilt.

Coming into it I thought a Doula was strictly for the support to the mother, but what I learned to appreciate about Monique and her work was that she helped create a safe space for me to communicate what I was feeling without being judged or guilty.

Monique talked to us about leaving her career as a Social Worker to to continue fulfilling her purpose, as a doula after coming from a lineage of birth workers.

When my daughter was born I legit cried for 30 min straight and til this day I’m not 100% sure why that was, I just know the feeling I get when I’m with her is one of a kind.

Ep #59 Lorne Williamson “Try it all until you find your Purpose”

On this weeks episode of LYP we sat down with my guy Lorne Williamson founder of The Breakfast Box I’ve literally known this good brother my entire life and have a lot of classic memories with bro, from elementary school to our first couple years of college being OUTSIDE!!! The beauty of it all is seeing the evolution of us both, being husbands, family men, fathers & business owners. Ever since I can remember he’s had hands in something and fearlessly trying different things creatively. That passion and courage ultimately brought him back to his love of cooking that he told me he learned from his grandmother cooking famous breakfast and also his father having a love for cooking. That love and passion turned into The Breakfast Box which started as a stand in his back yard to a food truck and now with the hopes of one day franchising, operates at a central location here in Akron. It’s always fire to see the homies stick to their plan and watch it come to fruition, especially when you’ve seen the commitment and execution up close.

Episode #57 “Girl Dad” w/ Kenny “JoJo” Smith & Kamille Smith

On this weeks episode of the LYP we sat down with Kenny “JoJo” Smith and his daughter Kamille. Our 2nd father/daughter duo on the pod since Jatone Stephens and Jada

In this episode we spoke about how Jojo stepped out on faith, transitioning from an athlete to an educator and ultimately a creative/entrepreneur becoming an author writing childrens books and public speaking. My son Messiah loves his first book “We Love Our Daddy” a book about a day in the life of his daughters with admiration for him. We also spoke to his oldest daughter Kamille about her love of reading and sports evolved into her becoming an author of her own. “Girls Fall Down Sometimes” is Kamilles 1st book about empowering young girls to always a walk in their power, where she also wrote, helped with the illustration and editing of it.

As a father of a newborn daughter, I can’t tell y’all how much I enjoyed this episode. Although we recorded prior to my baby Sade being born, I was so proud to be sitting across from another Black father and his daughter as he told his story of him becoming an author and how that inspired his daughter to become an author at only 9 years old!

Episode #56 w/ Kameron Alexander “Never Stop Moving”

Episode #56 w/ Kameron Alexander “Never Stop Moving”

This weeks episode of LYP we sat down with Kameron Alexander, one of the owners of Social 8 Lounge, Frozen Daiquiri Bar and the newest addition to downtown Akron, Perfect Pour

We recorded this episode on the anniversary date of him and his team receiving the keys to Social 8, which made it a divine episode.

During this conversation Kam reiterated the importance of moving forward regardless how bad his situations may of seemed, a perspective he received from his late grandfather.

One thing I always liked and respected about Kam is that many of his moves are made in silence and he lets the work speak for himself. I appreciated the value he gave in this conversation from the wisdom be picked up from his grandfather, how he never quit his vision even when people tried to discourage him, knowing the importance of a solid team and lastly, the money and status isn’t what drove him it was his passion and his purpose.

Episode #55 Aregeros Lamont “Visionary is my Occupation”

Episode #55 Aregeros Lamont “Visionary is my Occupation”

On this weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we sat down with the one and only Aregeros Turner aka Aregeros Lamont

I’ve been trying sit down with this young man for some time now, but like any and everything with extreme value it’s all about the right timing. Not only a designer, and a creative but Aregeros considers himself to be an all around visionary.

He spoke to me about being a star athlete in high school, college and ultimately becoming a 1%er as an NFL player. The transition into a full on creative had its tough moments but it was seamless for him

From music, fashion, visual art, and even designing custom furniture Aregeros mind is always working towards evolution and growth.

Episode #54 Herbal Ciddy “Do What You Love Everyday”

Episode #54 Herbal Ciddy “Do What You Love Everyday”

This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we sat down with none other than the young GOAT herself Herbal Ciddy. I first met her back in February at the live podcast and mixer event with The Company Connect. We only spoke for a small amount of time on camera, and in that timeframe she gave a hell of a lot of value, so it was only right we sat down and had a in depth conversation on her story.

Ciddy spoke to us about manifesting her life as it is now, and having foresight even when others couldn’t see her vision. From selling smoothies out of her car, spending over a year to perfect her recipe, Ciddy never quit and never gave up on her dream. She kept hustling, kept faith, and now is Ohio’s #1 Skin Care company and one of the biggest Skin Care brands in the country.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation because it’s the epitome of what LYP represents, stepping out faith, trusting yourself along with Gods calling on you and walking in Purpose.

BIG BOSS CIDDY! 🗣

Episode #53 Jasmyn Williams “Tell Your Story”

This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast I sat down with Jasmyn Williams and had a very dope conversation!

Prior to being an entrepreneur I spent years working in the mental health field with Minority Behavioral Health Group here in Akron, and majority of the work I was a apart of took place in public schools and charter schools.

Jasmyn specializes in building content centered around sharing strategies centered in advocacy, wellness with a goal to amplify the stories of educating in the inner city.

In this conversation we spoke about her story and what lead her to wanting to becoming an educator, her experiences working in charter schools, and her visions and goals for The Urban Educator brand. Jasmyn is a special person with a heart of gold, it’s a must we continue to highlight people like her who show up everyday to serve our Black babies while educating adults on how to serve them best.

I met Kaylon 5-6 years ago when we worked together at the Boys & Girls Club and even then I recognized this young king was ahead of his time and was very wise and talented. He spoke to us about pivoting from a dream as an athlete as a youngster, being inspired by movements such as Roc-A-Fella and others. He also touched on the steps he took to build his confidence that continue to serve him today. This weeks episode of LYP is a milestone by it being our 50th episode, so we did it a little different this go round. I did it solo and I went over 4 main topics that I wanted to share with y’all. 1. Consistency 2. Faith & Vision 3. Why Honesty is important 4. How entrepreneurship and mental wellness are connected Some of the reasons I did this one solo is because… 1. Because it was important to me that I shared with y’all exactly what I’ve learned these last 2 years 2. I wanted to see how it felt lol 3. Im never married to just doing things creatively one way or following a certain method. I’m gone continue to try shit out along the way because that’s what keeps me finding joy in it! THANK YOU TO EVERY DAMN PERSON WHO MADE 50 EPISODES POSSIBLE 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

Episode #49 Lawrence Greene “Tell Your Story”

Episode #49 Lawrence Greene “Tell Your Story”

In this weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we got back to in person conversations, and sat down with Lawrence Greene.

Lawrence is an entrepreneur, real estate investor and podcaster where he hosts other entrepreneurs over a catered lunch from a private chef on Lunch w/ Lawrence

I wanted to sit with Lawrence so he could share his story as inspiration for others, but I also wanted to sit with him because it’s important to show that as fellow podcasters it’s plenty of room for all of us to eat and it’s no need to compete because we can all coexist.

What I really enjoyed about Lawrence is we share a lot of experiences from starting out as 9-5ers before transitioning into entrepreneurs and are grateful for the skills we took with us from working over the years. That’s not always the side of the game you hear.

The name of this game is consistency, hard work, faith and action. Those rules are universal and apply anywhere.

Full episode available tomorrow on our YouTube channel and the audio is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Anchor!

Episode #48 Ahmad The Poet “I’m a God, I’m a Dog”

Episode #48 Ahmad The Poet “I’m a God, I’m a Dog”

This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we met virtually with the brilliant and young titan Ahmad Muhammad better known as Ahmad The Poet

Ahmad is 1/2 of the Breaking The Machine podcast and the founder of the Ancestral IG page. In this conversation we spoke on a lot of things that were refreshing to hear from a young dude! We shared how our experiences of grieving transformed both our lives for the better, the pros and cons of running positive platforms and being impactful while trying not to get caught up in the analytics.

I left this conversation not only impressed, but I was inspired by Ahmads level of passion, insight and commitment to greatness at only 23 years old!!!

Enjoy the conversation

Episode #47 Evan Auguste “I’m With All The Black Men Healing”

Episode #47 Evan Auguste “I’m With All The Black Men Healing”

This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we virtually sat down with Dr. Evan Auguste to discuss one of my favorite topics mental health and specifically mental health for Black & Brown people. Evan is a certified star and a front line warrior that we should all be aware of. After recently finishing his PHD program Evan Auguste became one of the only Black male psychologists in a field where less than 4% of the providers are Black males. Evan gave us a historical breakdown of the origin of the field of psychology + how it was weaponized to harm Black people as a form of oppression. He also gave us game on several Black theorists/psychologists that specifically relate to our experiences and connect us to our true origin. In other words… the field/system of psychology just like every other system has it’s racist and oppressive origins, but there are Black therapists out there who have been specifically trained to work with Black people. I know this for a fact because I go to one… twice a month! He continues to serve in leadership within National ABPsi and will lead nationally and internationally…pay attention. He also told us he used to be a track star and starred alongside Usain Bolt once in a commercial! I was blessed to cross paths with this young king… his heart was genuine and his spirit is committed to fulfilling his purpose. 🌱 x 👨🏾‍⚕️ 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

Episode #46 Chanda Woodall “Honor the light in You”

Episode #46 Chanda Woodall “Honor the light in You”

On this weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we spoke with Chanda Woodall the owner of In Time Studio Chanda found the practice of yoga after an injury as an athlete in college. She soon after enlisted in the military during a transition in her life, where she then fell deeper into becoming a full fledged Yogi, becoming an instructor teaching yoga and sound healing. We spoke about mental health, her experience as a Black Woman Yoga Instructor, content creation and just exactly what sound healing & meditation is. I enjoyed this conversation, as we agreed to disagree on some things but agreed that holding space for the conversation was the most important factor. Chanda gave a lot of information on the health benefits of yoga and meditation. Mind, Body & Spirit! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 #LYP #liveyourpurpose

Episode #45 Luis Escuerdo “Tequila Bae”

Episode #45 Luis Escuerdo “Tequila Bae”

On This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast we sat down with Luis the founder and CEO of El Patron Tequila Restaurant.

As you can tell by our faces we were very much under the influence of some good tequila this episode. Luis gave me the most intense history lesson and breakdown of tequila I’ve ever gotten and the first rule when discussing tequila is you gotta actually indulge in the spirit!

Back in September we held our first ever Pop up event at his restaurant on their rooftop, and in his own words “LYP had the biggest El Patron event of the summer”. One of the reasons I was really interested in having the event at El Patron was because from a far I seen how intentional Luis and his staff were about collaborating with young black and brown creatives in the area. It was dope to hear Luis’s backstory during this conversation, from his family migrating to the states from Mexico City when he was 5 to leaving a path of becoming an engineer to full time entrepreneurship.

Episode #44 Aaron & Nadiyah Carey “Meet The Connect”

Episode #44 Aaron & Nadiyah Carey “Meet The Connect”

On this episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast myself and the LYP team traveled down to Atlanta and sat down and met with the Connect themselves. Aaron and his wife Nadiyah are the owners of The Company Connect where they teach Entrepreneurs how to start, fund, and grow their business to 6 figures by leveraging their personal and business credit. In this conversation we spoke about their origin and how they met and came together at the perfect time while attending Ohio State. Over the years the duo has been through many trial and error experiences of entrepreneurship, but never giving up on their vision. One of the biggest takeaways I learned about them during this conversation that I came to really appreciate is how much faith these two have, through taking action and living with their results no matter what. Episode #42 w/ Joshmere “Baari” Muhammad “Creatives & Visionaries”

Episode #42 w/ Joshmere “Baari” Muhammad “Creatives & Visionaries”

On this weeks episode of LYP we spoke with BAARI own… Joshmere Muhammad

It’s damn near impossible to go outside in our city of Akron without seeing BAARI pieces of art everywhere. I specifically call them pieces of art because it’s much more than a clothing brand, in fact it’s not a clothing brand at all it’s a designer brand and their clothes can be seen all over the world but in Akron Baari has become synonymous with our city.

I enjoyed being able to build with this young brother and get some insight into his story and where it all started.

One of the things that always stood out to me about BAARI was the powerful messaging included in the art. Joshmere talked to us about his conversion into Islam as a young man, and once he heard The Honorable Louis Farrakhan speak for the first time he said “whatever you do, make sure you do it for your people” the idea of Baari begun.

One of the biggest things I appreciate about Josh was how much he values his wife and children and how much their support has helped in building him as a man and a creator.

By far one of my favorite episodes, we talked about music, fatherhood, marriage, and good business. We are better together than we are a part.

Episode #41 Kay Vick “Find your Balance”

Episode #41 Kay Vick “Find your Balance”

On this weeks episode we kept the same energy from last week and had another podcaster on!

Kay Vick is the founder of Kay Vick Relations where she works with artists and other creatives on their digital marketing and overall content creation. Back in late August I had the pleasure of being a guest on Kay’s Tappin In Thursdays podcast, on the same day that was supposed to be our first ever LYP Pop Up. I ended up cancelling and rescheduling due to the rain. While that was a hard decision to make in the moment to make, one of the reasons I felt confident in the decision was because I had such a good time vibing with Kay on her show and I felt that moment was supposed to happen.

Kay talked a lot about the value of balance, and how she was raised by both her parents and balance was something they were very intentional about. Like many of us, Kay was inspired during the quarantine and the pandemic to lean into more creative aspirations which lead her to creating Kay Vick Relations

No amount of money, success, fame, or wealth can outweighs the value of good solid relationships. Shoutout to my Sagittarius sister Kay as she has become a staple in the hearts of LYP as being our last model in our shoot. Thank you for sharing your story.

Episode #40 Justin Carter “Embrace the Pivot”

Episode #40 Justin Carter “Embrace the Pivot”

This weeks episode features only our 2nd ever repeat guest Justin Carter.
First time we had him on was in the middle of quarantine last year and we spoke for almost 3 hours!!! It was only right we ran it back in person and caught up with him. He’s become a podcaster since our last episode. I’ll always show love to people in the podcast space who take it serious and stay consistent because 1. This shit is hard work and anyone who dedicates themselves to it has my upmost respect and 2. It’s plenty of space in this game for us all to eat and when one of us wins, then we all win. We spoke about his new podcast The Pivot Mindset Podcast as well as his coaching business, and we also talked about his battle with COVID-19 this year and how the experience changed his life. One of the reasons I highly respect Justin is his honesty. Not too many people are going to share like he did in our episode. Justin is what I like to call one of those “special” people because he has a way of breaking down powerful and valuable information in the most simplistic way. LYP

Episode #39 Asia “The Hairdoc” Williamson “Pressure Busts Pipes & Makes Diamonds”

Episode #39 Asia “The Hairdoc” Williamson “Pressure Busts Pipes & Makes Diamonds”

This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast I sat down with Asia to some…. but the one and only THE HAIRDOC to most!!!! By far one of the most fun and enjoyable episodes I’ve had! My engineer Darrell even said he never laughed so much while recording.
I initially met Asia during the bootcamp workouts at Grit Fit I quickly realized she was serious about, and knew the value of her brand when I seen her license plate said “HAIRDOC” lol
I never knew it coming up but the first entrepreneurs I was exposed to that were close to me were beauticians and hair stylists, such as my sisters and other women in my family, so my respect for them goes a long way.

I gained more of an understanding and respect for Asia after our sit down because she opened up and shared a lot of vulnerable information about her story and her healing journey that I don’t take for granted because she didn’t have to. I’m honored when people feel comfortable enough to share their true selves because truthfully that’s what LYP is all about.

I look forward to y’all hearing this one because I know many of us can relate to her story. On top of that… Asia wanted me to make sure I told y’all this was gone be our most viewed episode. Y’all go run this up! LYP 🌱

Episode #38 Darrell Davis & Gabriel Black "Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork"

Episode #38 Darrell Davis & Gabriel Black "Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork"

This weeks episode of the Live Your Purpose Podcast is special to me. This one is dedicated strictly to the people who help and constantly help me and help bring this vision to life.

Simply Put… let me introduce you to the team. Darrell Davis is our engineer who handles every aspect of the audio experience we’ve done. He’s been with me literally since DAY 1!!!! From our first episode when we recorded everything off a damn broken iPhone and not the best mics lol. He’s been committed and in the trenches with us helping us grow and sharing his gift. I like to call him “The Prodigy”. Young boy really is a boy genius and he shared his story on how he gained all types of skillsets from watching his father as a creative, and his time at the STEM middle and high school here in Akron where he became an inventor, building his own studio, computers from scratch and other random stuff that I gotta tell him all the time “bro that’s not regular!!!”

We also sat down with Gabriel Black our video editor who’s helped bring every aspect of LYP to life visually. When we first met he told me his love and passion was definitely editing videos and he wanted to help bring the vision of LYP to life so our audience could appreciate the great conversations we have with guests. He spoke to us about how his father introduced the value of creating and building his own early which has helped him carve out his own lane in anyway you can think possible behind the camera.

A smart man figures out how to do things himself, but a wise man empowers those around him to share their own gifts for the greater good.

Giving my guys their flowers on this one!!! They deserve it!!!
