Your Network is Your (Business) Family | Annual Living Sportsgiving Episode
If you read the title of this podcast, it’s true, your network is your business family! The closer you are with the people that make up your business network the better your network will work for you. Many young professionals learn what networking is but they aren’t taught the correct steps and the nurturing that should be done to effectively build out their community. Rule #1 in building your business family is similar to that of your real family...You have to be there through thick and thin... whether you need something or not. In fact, your network grows most when you AREN’T looking to get something out of a relationship... like a job, a recommendation letter, or an introduction to someone in the industry… When you give your time and an ear to listen to others, or help others, without asking for anything in return, you may not know it, but you are building trust, the core foundation to a strong network. Today’s episode was recorded at our recent networking event in beautiful Yosemite National Park in Central California. We spent hours together outside climbing mountains, sharing laughs, and creating memories. A full weekend with limited access to wifi was okay because we were so engaged with the people we were spending time with. This podcast will walk you through our self-reflection on what we are thankful for during a year when it may be a little easier to forget how fortunate we really are. We always refer to this time of year as Living Sportsgiving, our annual celebration within the Living Sport community commemorating our gratitude for strong connections, similar passions, and friendships made. The Yosemite trip was a perfect celebration. Now let's turn to our conversation with our Living Sport alums, Marcus, Tina, Mike, Jenna, Tre’, Caela, Karen, Sean, and Mentor Chasity...with Connor as the producer. A warm and special shoutout to all Living Sport alumni that continue to make our community one of the truest and strongest networks you can find in the sport industry. Happy Living Sportsgiving everyone!

How a Great Idea Grows into a Business | Michael Silva, QB54 Football Game
Where’s my future entrepreneurs at? This one's for you! We travel to New Jersey to talk with Michael Silva, Co-Founder of QB54 as he shares his story of how his tailgate game went from a family Thanksgiving tradition to something he and his brother turned into a brand new product that is getting a lot of attention. If you're anything like me when I was in college or recently graduated, the idea of entrepreneurship intrigued me a lot but I didn’t have THE IDEA, the one that could make the reality come to fruition and build a successful business. So what I did next was I learned everything I could, I learned sales, media, graphic design and when I saw a really cool idea that inspired me I would catalogue it in my mind. What happened was over the years was I began to piece all of those little learning lessons together and that's how my IDEA with Living Sport came together. In this episode we dive into another startup, a product called QB54, which surprisingly is the only football related tailgate game on the market! Mike provides an insight into getting an idea off the ground and shares the good times and the not so good time of being an entrepreneur. Listen in for some great tips that can help provide you the courage to go after that IDEA you want to pursue. Let’s jump in to our conversion with Mike Silva, Co-Founder of QB54.

If anyone can make magic with no games and no team history it's definitely the front office staff in Rocket City. How to Get a Job in Esports | Pete Powell, Nerd St. Gamers
Today’s episode is all about esports and understanding the landscape of it. We have been hearing from a lot of you in the Living Sport Network that you are interested in a career in this rapidly growing sector of sport but you may not know where to start. Well, we went directly to the source and in this episode we chat with Pete Powell, Chief of Staff at Nerd St. Gamers, a national network of esports facilities and events dedicated to powering competitive opportunities for gamers. Nerd St. Gamers is a company that is just 3 years old and is making tremendous waves in the industry and luckily for you, they will be hiring for many positions around the country in the very near future. Throughout my career I have learned that there is no better time to get involved in an organization than when it is starting out. When businesses are just starting up they are always looking for extra hands that can help out. If you are that guy or that gal that is there from the beginning and adds value to the company, many times that volunteer work or that internship turns into a full-time job when the company begins to hire more people to grow their staff out. esports may not be just starting, but in the past few years it has seen tremendous growth and will be on the uprise for the foreseeable future. Let’s turn it over to Pete and learn about his role at Nerd St. Gamers.
