Episode 19 - Dream Believers: Listening to What Lies Beneath

Episode 19 - Dream Believers: Listening to What Lies Beneath

Listen in as Liz and Michael discuss their relationships with dreams, and how these sleeping stories can be a portal for accessing the unconscious self. Perhaps you rarely dream, or you dream but forget about them as soon as you wake. It's important to start where you are. Carl Jung emphasized dream-work as a primary avenue for wholeness and integration, but this work begins with a very practical step - writing your dreams downs. Dreams are a way to connect no only to our personal unconscious, but to the divine. Are you a dream believer? You will be after this episode!

Episode 18 - Healing the Divided Self

Episode 18 - Healing the Divided Self

The etymology of demon is rooted and connected to the word "divide." To live divided results in a variety of psychological and emotional symptoms - psychological splitting, complexes and dissociation, which can wreak havoc in our relationships to ourselves and others. Episode 17 - Befriending the Stranger Within

Episode 17 - Befriending the Stranger Within

Our collective isolation, polarization and loneliness disconnect us from one another and from our internal landscape. Spiritual practices have fallen stale or diminished to a level that cannot contain or sustain our needs. We need a way to relate to that which is strange within - the parts of us exiled, angry and apathetic. Tools such as Internal Family System (IFS) and Active Imagination can support us as we listen and ask questions of our most hidden parts.

Episode 16 - Giving to Dogs What is Sacred

Episode 16 - Giving to Dogs What is Sacred

Carl Jung once wrote, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” Many of us know the passage from Matthew 7:1-6 commanding the reader to "not judge" and "not see the plank in your neighbor's eye." But what we see in others may offer us a glimpse of what we've hidden and shadowed in ourselves. Our work is not to avoid our judgements, but to become aware of them. Join us as we explore an old passage, and investigate and integrate our shadow.

Episode 15 - Eulogizing Church

Episode 15 - Eulogizing Church

Is anyone going to church? What are we to do with a form that has both blessed and cursed us? No doubt, our current forms of church are dying and so there is temptation to toss the whole thing out. But what if we were able to remember the good, feel the pain of the bad and eulogize church? Perhaps our initiation extends even to our most foundational beliefs and assumptions. It may be that we need to mourn an old form of church so that we can fully enter into the possibility of transformation.

Episode 11 - Growing Tomatoes

Episode 11 - Growing Tomatoes

The bigness of racism can feel insurmountable and can paralyze and burn out real action. So we must tend the soil beneath our feet, the garden we’re already standing in. We must remember that antiracist work is the work of God, the gospel, but this is mostly new to the White church. So as we do the work let us be as a tree firmly planted yet feel the discomfort of being out on a limb.
