• Prayer is secret and intimate, in purpose:

5 “Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

• Prayer is precise, confidence infused & transparent:

7 When you pray, don’t babble like the Gentiles, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. 8 Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask him.

• Prayer is the adoration of God:

9 “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.

• Prayer is surrender to the sovereignty & purposes of God:

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

• Prayer is seeking the experience of the power of God:

11 Give us today our daily bread.

• Prayer fosters reconciliation with God:

12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

• Prayer seeks the Holiness of God:

13 And do not bring us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Discovering the spiritual principle or the Spirit of the text.

 - Use “then & now” similarities to determine the spiritual principle.

 - Apply the parts-whole spiral [reflect back & forth between the teaching of the text and the teachings of the whole Bible].

Applying the principle in our lives or “walking the spirit” of the text.  

 - Scripture is meant to be lived out.

 - A text generally has one spiritual principle but many applications.

 - Wrong application of a spiritual principle can be very harmful.

Welcome to Sessions On Life with Learners Of Christ the King (LOCK) United. In this first episode, we wanted to introduce ourselves, and tell you a little bit about why we are starting this podcast. We want to give anyone at any point on their faith journey a place to learn from our experiences and talk about some questions in faith.
